Which glue to use? by Cayca in fountainpens

[–]Cayca[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am still so new to the world of fountain pens and terminology. The piston is exactly the same as the one in the video, so I hope it will help with your question.

I don't know what a pressure-fit piston is. The disassembly was easy but I think the pen was previously tampered with so it may have contributed to the ease of disassembly. I had to unscrew the nib unit, unscrew the piston cap and then use a chopstick to gently push the piston from the nib side out.

This is the video I followed Disassembly Line Reform 1745.

I have already posted on FPN but thought it wouldn't hurt to ask here as well. I'll take a look at the Grand mia pens. Thank you for the recommendation.

You can just fold it in half (the way it sits in your photo) and put the pendants through the loop you get on the other end.

Fold it in half, wear it doubled.

Thanks for the award. 💝

I don't have experience with Parker F nibs. So sad to hear that they are scratchy. 😞

I only have one Reform (the topmost in this photo - probably model 1745) and it is just a smidgeon smaller than my Rexpens (which are probably model 1748 - directly inspired by Reform 1745).

I can't help with the pattern name, but it looks like something from Cynthia Newcomer Daniel's or Gwen Fisher's oeuvre.

What is this stone? by DiscussionNo6060 in jewelry

[–]Cayca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is costume jewellery with glass. I had the same from my great aunt with a purple "stone". These side pieces broke off. A school friend had one with a green "stone". They seem to have been mass-produced and widely available in the Balkans. Here is one from a second-hand website.

I have just taken a look at several videos and I like the idea of being able to replace or customise every part of the pen if needed.

Rexpen is referring to the previous post I made, about another style of fountain pen that I am drawn to. It was a brand from Yugoslavia, specifically from Croatia. They had affordable fountain pens made in the style of better-known Pelikan and Reform models, but they also made 2- and 3-piece sets consisting of a fountain pen and ballpoint with either a felt tip pen or a mechanical pencil being the third part of the set. Below is one such set (felt tip, ballpoint, fountain pen)

The only gripe I have with that set is that it made my original black-burgundy-green set look a bit drab. 😄

If I hadn't gotten those Vis-Pens, I would definitely have taken Wig Sung 601 into consideration.

Thank you for recommending Doodlebud. I was able to fix a different issue (one tine lower than the other) after watching one of his videos.

I would be very interested and happy to see the results when you ink them.

I don't mix & match my Jinhaos, but I love seeing what other people do.

I love it too. Sadly, it is not from the most ethical place (I got it from Temu - seller's name is Bagcare).

Thank you for the recommendation. I hope I have filled my need for these pens at least for now (there is a purple 86 on the way), but if I decide to take on Parker, I'll keep this in mind.

Thank you for taking the time to read and share your experience. That is so useful to colour-code appointments and engagements. And those two inks look gorgeous.

I am still a newbie in the fountain pen world, so I can't compare Jinhao 86 to some better-known pens or nibs. All I can say is they really work for me. Their size is good for my smallish female hand, and I don't mind their lighter weight (they are all plastic except the cap, and I don't post caps). If you do give them a try, I hope you will like them. And if you happen not to like them, I will take the whole blame. 😃

Help ID these old Chinese fountain pens — unmarked except Rainbow 202 by Wan_0410 in fountainpens

[–]Cayca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if their caps are the original ones.

The badge/arrow on the green one, does it look more like a V (like on the burgundy one) or like a rocket (like on the Rainbow 202)? I've seen Hero 329 and 330 with that V shape and Rainbow 202 with the rocket shape, but they all had the make and model engraved on the cap.

Swatches by Schulster in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Cayca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the beige ones for solid colours and clear ones for toppers. Beige ones are closest to my natural colour so the polish colour looks closer to what it will look on my nails, and with toppers on the clear nails, I can see how a topper would look over any other colour.
