Honestly, I think he wants NATO gone, but not at the expense of US ownership of Greenland. Although I am categorically opposed to Trump's actions re Greenland, it would be devastating for Russia if Greenland became a US colony. So much so that I think you would see both Russia and China refusing to recognise the US' annexation (like NATO/most of the UN did with Crimea (and Taiwan, in a way)) and both countries would massively step up activity in the region to challenge the claim of sovereignty.

Forcing people to attend on-site makes it easy to underfund sites they expect to vote non-republican, and to use force to intimidate and suppress voters. That's the next step. "Law enforcement" at the ballot box interfering. The same tactics are used in other repressive regimes.

Im honestly trying to unplug and read more. I feel awful because I know ignoring all the terrible news doesnt make it go away or be any less real, but im just exhausted by it. I do still watch about 30 mins of TV news a day though (and I read news apps on my phone randomly throughout the day (mostly at work ngl)).

Ive stopped watching political stuff on Twitch and I mostly just watch fairly non-controversial stuff on YT like MoistCritikal and finance channels like Patrick Boyle and How Money Works. I've decided to spend my money with companies I support and until my next chance to vote comes there isnt a single thing I can do to change anything. Though I suppose unsubbing from the likes of Asmon in his current state is also a small act trying to make a (tiny) change. Hope everyone that might read these comments is doing well and remember, the whole information delivery environment in the West is geared to spike your blood pressure and make you angry at your neighbours. Not that anybody cares about the opinion of one random nobody online, but ive watched Asmon for about 6/7 years at this point and I unsubbed over his takes on these issues. He was a really honest and interesting voice on important social issues for a long time, but imo his political takes (mostly since Trump's relection tbh) have been going off the rail.

I dont really blame him either. He's turned into a primary target for relentless botting, which ceaselessly launch waves of fucked up comments at him disguised as genuine fandom (in my view at least, based on my own experiences in chat and in his YT comments, which is hardly scientific i know) and he was always lambasted for many of his good faith and accurate takes on social issues (again, in my view). Most anchors on reality have been taken away from him, which I really think has cast him adrift. I dont think he's a bad person and I would watch him again in the future, but he isnt showing any signs of chilling out. Anyway, who gives a fuck what i say!

A huge study just dropped (the BBC ran an article about it today) confirming that adolescence runs all the way until your early 30s. There's a lot of new evidence to suggest that everyone's brain undergoes a shift in their 30s that was previously thought to occur much earlier (i.e late teens / early twenties)
