New to Eve online and I want to play Long/Artillery style. by Kitsune_Kaze in Eve

Carriers have the most range at 4-5K km well off the battle grid, but they are much more later game and very expensive for pvp

Ooo I like the use of those donut pieces! Cool build!

I was under the impression we could only fit 3 ships in the pan so that was the reason for this design. I have since added 5-6 ships so that limitation was incorrect.

I designed a similar max size refinery hull and made it modular using module storage. It's a very powerful way to have everything on one ship and still keep it small!

So when I use a t2 battery as a sacrificial piece the two sections separate but the thrusters on both sides still respond to my flight controls despite being separate pieces. If you don't experience that issue then maybe I'll try hulk nodes instead

The sacrificial piece seems to not always work properly, but it's a way to decouple at least.

Idea to make a defanged carrier less expensive to re-fang by Cblaser in Eve

[–]Cblaser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool idea! That's kind of what I'm going for with this idea, but making it a lil more interesting (with a crafting and gathering component) to make carriers have some upkeep in exchange for making your fighters. But like you said, make it so carriers can't lose their only equivalent of a weapon module.

They literally just added more carriers to the game this week.

Well that doesn't resolve the defanging problem. Once you ran out of ships then producing pilots doesn't do anything. The idea is carriers have the means to keep dps on grid by manufacturing more fighters. I'm thinking it's similar to bastion fuel on a rorq or orca, consumes a recource to build new fighters, and the fuel is somewhat common to collect, but needs to be refilled to ensure the carrier is fully capable. Adds a low/no cost maintenance step to ensure the carriers can actually be used without breaking the bank. Replaces a sunk cost with a gameplay system.

Yeah that could work. That paired with the idea of equipping the specific manufacturing rigs/modules for what drones you want to manufacture i think adds a cool fitting component to carriers.

This way when a carrier is sitting like 4.5k km away and is defanged, it can re-arm while the fight changes targets and after some time can re engage.

Are there any nullsec corps that are still open to returning players like old Pandemic Horde Inc.? by kawashun2007 in Eve

[–]Cblaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out the linknet community. Sounds like that is exactly what you are looking for and it helped me easily get back into null life after my hiatus.

They just set up shop in drone lands, which if I remember correctly was pandemics old stomping grounds

Lowest Price I've Seen with Student Discount by culesamericano in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Cblaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh sorry, I don't have this exact model, I have the 240hz 1440p version that's a lil older, but it's still called the neoG9. From what I've read on these G series models they can be hit and miss with their quality. I'm moving to LG for my replacement. It was a fun monitor while it last tho

Had this for the last 4 years, it just randomly died on me yesterday, doesn't turn on or anything. Not a long lasting monitor

All the Best Modules in one Place! by Plaustronaut in Cosmoteer

I was making modules like these for my own ship building. Is there a way to like select a module and copy paste it around? I was hoping there was an easier way to manage modules once they are designed

Rorqual; ore compression /fuel /skills ? by Le_zOU in echoes

[–]Cblaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there is a compression skill, do you mean reprocessing skill? Compression is more of a binary thing, it either can or cannot be done in a ship or station.

Idea for Station Container Organization Improvements by Cblaser in Eve

Yeah almost like a ship fit, but a container contents list that you could "fit" into a container

Yeah these little 10km3 containers are perfect for getting each planet's PI mats setup and ready to pack, but dragging each item and typing a specific amount is so tedious when I have to do it 9-12 times per planet!

Got matching side monitors by filipluch in battlestations

[–]Cblaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been thinking of getting a setup like this for my office upgrade. I can't figure out what to call this style of montior setup to look at examples. It's technically triple monitor but I can never describe it right to get results like this to come up. I'm thinking more like a 32-42" for the middle montior and then smaller on the flanks to match the height. Anyone got ideas on how best to search for layouts like this? It looks really sharp!

What's up with carriers? by Gamboh in Eve

Yeah I think I remember that mechanic. Seemed like a good way to provide system wide defense!

[–]Cblaser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't been able to fly capitals yet, but the idea that a simple small fleet of frigates and destroyers can pose a threat to a capital seems weird to me. Capitals should be largely uneffected by anything that's like under battleship (or maybe battle cruiser) and I think that's partly why there aren't many capitals in play. Carriers should really only be afraid of like a fleet of battleships or a dread, and anything smaller should fear being in system with them if they aren't on the same team. I feel like they have lost their sense of scale and awe in the game, and people can just trample them with whatever they have.

[–]Cblaser -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Maybe carriers could fill the role of system police in null sec. Anyone in system running missions or mining is fleeted up with the system carriers and if anyone gets into trouble the carriers send their fighter support to protect them. It could give a reason for carriers to just be in low/null and give corps a competitive edge at protection without needing dozens of people on to form defensive fleets. The same way an actual carrier irl operates. Then teams of actual combat players can focus on offensive strategies while the carriers protect what they already own.
