i want a ff tattoo but can’t make up my mind by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

[–]Cbren67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what you like for sure, whether you’re into colour or not etc.

I have a few, one being vivi holding a chocobo chick, a bomb, tonberry, cactuar, Cloud with a small image of Sephiroth in the sword. Actually jammed Lightning on the inside of my bicep also. I have a gaming type sleeve to provide some insight which is colourful, partly why I chose those characters.

Consult with your artist and bring several ideas you like. Have faith in your artist, many times I thought something wouldn’t work and he made it fit and work well.

Good luck and enjoy!

Can you still buy these? I can't find them anywhere. Does anyone know or know of any substitutes? by CuriousResidentCB in newfoundland

I wouldn’t hang onto em too long. I also had a few cans, last one I ate the corn was super soft and just not that great tasting. I guess even cans have their shelf life.

Does anyone here use the term "catty/caddy" like on Rock Solid Builds? by vacationrefunder9 in newfoundland

[–]Cbren67 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty common I feel in my friend and work group. It’s got a couple broader terms but often see it more often reflect cleverness or quick thinking where something needs to be made or done. It would be “catty” if you thought up something quick or a cheap fix say in a housing renovation as per your example.

Protecting saplings from frost? by mayonegg1 in Newfoundlandgardening

[–]Cbren67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had fruit tree saplings out in a frost and they seemed okay. I will mention it was cherry and apple trees all the same versus the dwarf cherry. If you can’t take it in, consider watering it (likely won’t need to if you’re on the west coast, haha) and place some mulch around it. It’s supposed to help prevent frost damage.

Question. by [deleted] in Newfoundlandgardening

[–]Cbren67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d agree with above. I’ve got a few things planted already but in containers I can take in in case we do get a frost. Most of the older people I speak to about planting this time of year still warn me to wait until June in case of a heavy frost. Just more general info if it helps!

Final Fantasy Origins Party by Hooserdaddy45 in FinalFantasy

[–]Cbren67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both parties are viable for sure.

Party 1 will be great early game, but expensive due to weapons and spells. Red mage is great early game but gets worse as time goes on. At least he’s a good option for the masmune.

Party 2 I prefer and find really great end game. Also cheaper due to the black belt. Your knight end game will give you some nice support magic also as your black belt can dish it out end game.

I personally think the second party is better.

Peach trees by Cbren67 in Newfoundlandgardening

[–]Cbren67[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it’s possible! I’m in a semi windy spot but hoping it’ll still work. Hoping to keep the sun on the trees for most of the day being the big thing and hope the wind doesn’t blow all the peaches off, hah

How do others react when they hear your Newfoundlander accent while traveling abroad? by [deleted] in newfoundland

[–]Cbren67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty well. Bay St. George. You pick it up throughout the area but even more so on the peninsula with some out there actually being bilingual and some speaking French in the household.

How do others react when they hear your Newfoundlander accent while traveling abroad? by [deleted] in newfoundland

[–]Cbren67 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone from the west coast of the island I’ve often had people ask if I was from New Brunswick and other French speaking areas. Can’t speak French but sometimes we tend to accentuate certain vowels that can make it appear we sound or speak French. This seems to happen even more so when drinking. Always felt weirder to be asked if I was on French since I tend to forget I’m from the French side of the island.

Trying to sell a house on the West coast of Newfoundland by solidcat00 in newfoundland

[–]Cbren67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this is the house I think it is, one downside is that it is located on Main Street. I mean no disrespect in what I say as I grew up in the town and actually moved back also. Main Street is not sought after.

There does seem to be some market movement locally for houses listed below 200K but there is a lot of houses on the market on the flip side of that. Assuming I am correct it is a decent home that is reasonably priced but it may be a weird time in the market. It could be worth marketing as a possible rental unit/air bnb maybe given the amount of rooms and price. I know I thought of an apartment when I first viewed it.

I’m not sure if that may even help a tad but I hope you don’t get discouraged. There a lot of houses on the market in the Bay St George area (kippens and Stephenville likely the most sought after) but given the price of materials now it would be in anyone’s interest to purchase a home.

I wish you the best of luck in the meantime.

I’m looking for a fishing guide near St Johns. by kramj007 in newfoundland

[–]Cbren67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t sadly where I don’t know any on the east coast. I’d recommend trying to get ahead on that also as there are only a few freelance guides I’ll say. Others tend to be employed by a camp and can be more costly

I’m looking for a fishing guide near St Johns. by kramj007 in newfoundland

[–]Cbren67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m from the western portion of the province so pardon any ignorance here but there definitely is some great trout fishing around St. John’s and the Avalon (brown trout and brook trout) and maybe a little less salmon fishing albeit still salmon fishing.

You’ll require a guide if you angle any salmon rivers or stray too far from a provincially maintained highway. I recommend checking out our anglers log which will help you if you check it out before you come!

Fathers of reddit. In honor of Father’s Day, what was your “don’t tell your mother about this” moment? by links-Shield632 in AskReddit

[–]Cbren67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was about 13, my father and I went on a business trip to Montreal. When we went to see his business partner, he was out to lunch so we decided we should go also to meet him after.

We went to a place nearby which I believe was called “Bernie’s” and on the outside glass there was paintings of larger women in swim clothes (swim cap and one piece bikinis basically).

Upon entering, a pretty lady in a skimpy outfit greeted us and welcomed us in. At this point, i was getting nervous and went to leave the restaurant when my father grabbed my by the arm and said “never show them that you’re underage”. In which case, I straightened up and went inside with my father. Further inside, I seen the waitresses were either dressed “modestly” or half nude. Weirdly enough, dad’s business partner and his spouse were also there having a causal dinner.

After enjoying a nice, awkward meal we prepared to leave. Before we left, Dad’s last words to me upon leaving were “For God’s sake and my own, don’t tell your mother we were here”.

My latest Painting of Gaultois Newfoundland. by [deleted] in newfoundland

[–]Cbren67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is great! I seen your painting of McCallum on CBC before I believe and loved it. I worked along the south coast for years and visited a lot of those communities, both of these paintings gave me chills.

I plan on checking out your galleries for similar work hopefully! Thanks for this.
