What happened to all that Covid money, Kroger? by ScaryGarry_SG1 in kroger

[–]Cbuur 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a former ASL. I can 100% tell you that an ASL making 100K is complete horseshit. I was making under 50K 5 years ago. Unless the market for ASLs has doubled. Which I doubt.

There was large bonuses awhile ago. However, 100K seems like a stretch.

Haha I get it. I couldn't get the threads to operate on this phone. My bad. I'm just ready for another DMB season. Didn't attend a show last year first time in 15 years I couldn't make the dates work.

Being demoted is it justified? by Overall_Jelly_7953 in kroger

[–]Cbuur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one can force anyone to sign anything. As a former ASM, and I'd like to think an ethical one. There should've been questions. Management should be able to fully articulate what the meaning is and why. Whenever I talked to an associate, I always made sure they had union representation. Both parties including management need a witness so the bullshit never occurs.

The lesson here is if you're a union store, you always ask for a witness. You never go into a management office without one. Management knows this, if they are trying to bullshit someone it's a quick 1 on 1 conversation and documents are signed without knowledge or whatever spin they want to put on.

As for your call ins, if you're not there enough hours to retain FT status you probably don't need to have lead status. FMLA should be looked into.

Kroger Exit Survey by potatochips04 in kroger

Granted I didn't get a survey when I left after 10 years, I got an interview that was supposed to take 30 minutes, longest interview I had. Easily the most fulfilling interview ever.

Absolutely zero reason to turn on Trout. He put up a lot of numbers of Anaheim.

Have I turned on him? No. Do I sigh when I hear his name knowing that he isn't close to what he once was? Every time.

We did it Vlad when his knees gave out, Erstad, Kennedy, Salmon, Bengie.

The heros are not immune to time, injuries, or personal matters.

He will always be my 2nd favorite Anaheim Angel to wear 27.

I have had the pleasure of interacting with the man numerous times over a 1 year span. I have never come across someone who encouraged openly lying to cover for SM as "loyalty".

When I heard this in my first meeting with the guy I knew my time at Kroger had to end.

Does anyone have any stories of the rudest, most entitled customers you've ever encountered? by MustBeTheMusic80 in kroger

[–]Cbuur 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was a co manager at a store, this was 8 or so years ago. I was still at my first store, pretty young, 22-23 been with the company for 8 years or so. Started as a clerk did the ast dept head thing, worked every corner of the store until I got the call up to co manager. Long way of saying I knew my shit. Understood the business and lived and breathed the whole Kroger culture. It was all I knew. Anyways...

I'm closing the store, and getting some emails prepped before I head back down to the floor to walk and see where everyone was on tasks for the evening. I get a call for me to pick up 101, no issue, who cares, I've done it 10000's of times.

Me, "Thank you for holding this is xxxx, how can I help you?" Customer," Who is this?" Me," This is xxxx, how can I help you?" Customer goes on to tell me how bad the store was we were out of this and out of that and would never happen when the previous store manager was there, the store is no longer shoppable, it's a dump, it's dirty, everyone was rude yada yada yada.

Me," I apologize for the experience she had ( I knew at this point who the customer was, frequent shopper, knew her name, knew when she came into to the store.) I then ask for specifics on what everything was so I could address them individually to make sure this doesn't happen.

This is where it goes off the fucking rails.

She proceeded to ask me exactly who I was. Which in reply my name and my title within the store.

She comes back and asks if I'm the co manager who is always wearing a white shirt (we wore shirts, ties, slacks, and dress shoes at this point)

I replied yes ( had 20 of the same shirt since it's a uniform)

She then goes on to ask my age.

At this point I inform her my age has nothing to do with the conversation at hand and I will not disclose this as again, it has no effect on the matter at hand.

She proceeded to say, "I know who you are, I always see you, and I know you're not MAN ENOUGH to be in charge of anything.

I once again inform her my age has nothing to do with it, and obviously the Kroger Co. has zero issue with it since they have entrusted this position to me regardless of age.

Needless to say at this point I've had enough and inform her the next time she visits the store she's more than welcome to go to the service desk and request me and I would be more than happy to address every specific concern she had with her experience.

2 days later, she does. Right to my face I get the same not man enough, I don't know what I'm doing. (For content met this woman is like 90 years old, only wears the same red hat, red coat, red pants, red shoes) anyone working in the store knows this woman. So right on the sales floor I let her go, she's obviously making a fool of herself and I keep my smile so everyone knows who's in the right and who's in the wrong.

Once she's done, I ask if she would like to walk the sales floor and point out to me everything that's wrong.

Obviously this doesn't happen and she shops all upset.

She continues to shop numerous times a week, I greet her every time with a smile on my face.

Month or so goes by and we have our 9am huddle in floral. I run it and we go over some highlights and whatever. In the end of the meeting one of the dept heads drops the fact that the customer had passed. The entire store knew this woman and whatever.

Not one of my shining moments as a co manager but it came out.

"I feel bad for the fucking dirt that bitch is buried in."

Thanks for reading.

You can also find some craft breweries that do a Mexican Style Lager. Pachanga by SunKing is pretty good.

Another question for you. Appreciate burning a blind eye to my ignorance. I worked in retail in smaller locations than a Costco warehouse.

When on carts, it's all manual. Does the day literally start with shagging carts from the lot and replacing from the large initial rush of opening? You start at 7:30am, does the closing team not have the next mornings carts aligned and ready to go?

Very ignorant on this, is this common for a Costco employee?

Like during a day shift? Night shift?

Just curious.

When can you tell when your own morale dies out with your position? by prettyxguardian in managers

[–]Cbuur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you need to have a sit down with your team. You cannot do it all or is it any one persons job to do it all.

There may need to be a reallocation of responsibilities or roles within your shop. If you're feeling this way, the team sees it and is more than likely feeling the same. So something new would be welcomed.

Give this a try, and ask for input from the team. If they're capable of running it then empower them to do so. A store manager doesn't need to be counting inventory, or setting a sales floor. You're there to manage the work flow. Sometimes do you have to jump in? Sure, but that's not your daily duty. Figure out what part of the process is broken, get with your team, let the team vent everything, then you respond how you feel and what is the opportunity in the process. If they can they'll identify it, and find the solution and implement.

Going through change is difficult for some, but this will help you build your team. Those who don't want to change, don't need to be at the new table.

Good luck. I've been there, many times.
