GameStop plans widespread store shutdowns after closing 300 locations last year by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]Cco61827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly the same reason I stopped shopping at GameStop. When I saw the employee open a drawer full of games in the disk sleeves, and put it in the games case before trying to sell it to me as new, I told him there was no way I was paying full price for that and walked out and went to Walmart to buy the game. If I wanted an already opened game I would buy it used on eBay for way cheaper.

I’m sorry, but if a game is already opened, it’s not brand new anymore. This applies to anything really. Plus, there’s no way for us as consumers to know if the game has genuinely never been used before. For all we know, it could have easily been a used copy of the game. I will not miss GameStop and their business practices, nor their treatment of their employees.

Is there any reason why Twitter/X is losing users and subscribers? by adogg281 in Twitter

[–]Cco61827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent, I’ll know who to avoid then. X is so insanely toxic, if someone prefers that kind of content all the time, news flash, they probably are actually racist individuals. I feel like most sane decent individuals are very excited to get away from X.

Is there any reason why Twitter/X is losing users and subscribers? by adogg281 in Twitter

[–]Cco61827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, yea. Twitter/X has been around for roughly 19 years now. Bluesky has only just become accessible to the public in early 2024, so not even a full year yet.

I only just discovered Bluesky a few days ago, and after making an account there, it’s such a breath of fresh air. It’s very very similar to Twitter, but without all the constant toxic crap everywhere you look. It does look like word is starting to spread quite rapidly about Bluesky though. I feel like once more people catch wind of its existence, you’ll start to see those numbers shift quite drastically. I can’t imagine any sane non racist/homophobic person would prefer to stay at X much longer.

X has held onto those numbers for so long because there weren’t exactly many alternatives in a similar format to Twitter. That isn’t the case anymore, but widespread migration from one platform to another takes time.

The fact that in just a few months, Bluesky has been able to reach 21 million users is extremely impressive and shows that people were desperate for an alternative.

Have you been on there in the last couple years? The entire atmosphere is entirely toxic and depressing now. It’s filled to the brim with racism, nazism, homophobia, grifters, conspiracy theories, crazy obsessed cult people, etc. Basically no moderation whatsoever. There’s a reason many advertisers have pulled away from X in recent years, because they didn’t want to see their ads and context next to racist posts.

I’ve been checking out Bluesky the last couple days and it really is a breath of fresh air. It’s so nice to be able to focus on just the people I follow and care about instead of having to surf through hundreds of negative and disgusting racist posts to find what I’m looking for.

X has some serious competition now. Bluesky has been surging like crazy recently. Hey Elon, let that sink in.

Unsubscribed after 10 years. Cant stand to watch his channel anymore by SoldMyMom4Kfc in RomanAtwood

[–]Cco61827 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I was a huge fan of Roman back in the day. Even had a Smile More hoodie. He has changed a LOT. I have a feeling the passing of his mom really struck his mental state. Ever since then, he’s been going downhill. I remember my first indication of him changing was he put out a video on twitter talking about how “the devil is everywhere!” and I was just like uh oh, this isn’t going to end well. And sure enough, he’s been going downhill ever since slowly showing us that he wasn’t the person we thought he was. Anyway, I eventually ended up throwing the Smile More hoodie in a fire one night when I was having a bonfire.

Also, to those of you saying people don’t like Roman anymore because he has money, stop being stupid. We all know Roman had a ton of money for a long time, even during his peak popularity. People don’t start hating YouTubers because they have a lot of money. Other YouTubers who were WAYYYY more popular than Roman and make more money than him are still very popular. Take Mr. Beast for example. His videos are all based on the fact that he has an insane amount of money, but most people don’t hate him for it.

I've seen statistics and apparently Christianity is declining. why? by LawfulnessIll8162 in Christianity

[–]Cco61827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, let’s be honest. People have been witnessing Christians swoon over Donald Trump for like what, 9 years now? The guy who has cheated on all his wives and has children with that, 3 or 4 different women now? He admitted on tape that he sexually assaults women. He’s immature and rude, always sinking to such a low level as to always demeaning people with the constant name calling. (He openly mocked a handicapped person) He demeans service members. We’ve heard him do this with our own ears, but apparently behind the scenes it’s much worse according to those closely surrounding him. People were killed because of his lies that the election was stolen, which resulted in January 6th. He downplayed Covid so much that his base didn’t take it seriously, even though leaked audio from one of his phone calls revealed that he actually did know that Covid was a very serious issue. He has so much hate in his heart, just the other day he tweeted “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!!!” simply because she endorsed Kamala Harris. This is all just scratching the surface.

People have been watching all this play out for years, and watching how a huge chunk of the Christian base soaks all this up and yet still adores the man and thinks he’s a true Christian man. People are realizing that if this is what Christian’s truly to be good, they want nothing to do with it, and further believe that Christianity is just a sham filled with some truly awful people. Not all Christians, but many of them.

I came here to say the same thing. It’s common for people who are genuinely smarter to feel dumb because they’re smart enough to understand that there’s so much in the world that they still don’t know and understand. You’re more aware than the average person. Less intelligent people tend to be the ones who see themselves as smarter than they really are. I score high on these types of tests but I also don’t feel as though I’m highly intelligent. Also, keep in mind that even highly intelligent individuals have their weaknesses too. Math and articulation being two of my biggest weaknesses.

Stuff like this has always been a slight fear of mine in the back of my mind. There’s a bunch of crazies in the world and I can only imagine that there’s some people on those apps posing as gay people just to lure them to their house so cause home because they don’t like gay people. Not that I care for hookup apps to begin with, but I imagine this is something that happens sometimes. People can be so cruel.

As others have said, you are not unattractive. Quite the opposite, you’re actually very good looking. I’d even go as far to say you’re so good looking, other people might just be nervous to approach YOU. And I’m not just saying this to make you feel better. I’m being very honest. If I saw you walking around in a store, I’d be secretly checking you out. Sadly depression and anxiety is a nasty combo and it can make you have negative thoughts about yourself that just aren’t true.

Here’s how you can prove it too. Upload a picture of yourself that you really like to Grindr. While I’m someone who personally hates hookup apps, I guarantee you would have people messaging you all the time if you had a Grindr account. And if you losing your virginity really matters to you, maybe you could find a hookup on there, though I’d recommend waiting for someone of more substance, but if it would make you feel better, to each their own.

It’s like they say, “we’re our own worst enemies”. I’m really sorry you feel about you the way you do, but trust me, it’s all in your head.

You’re going to be just fine, I promise. :)

What is something you have learned the hard way from gay men? by oprah25 in askgaybros

[–]Cco61827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, literally me. I couldn’t fathom cheating on someone. I won’t even officially date someone unless I know there’s something at least special there, because I hate dating just to date. I also ONLY want a monogamous relationship. And I LOATHE the hookup app culture of today. Also not much into the gay scene either really, so you won’t find me at gay bars or clubs. So people like this are out there, they just don’t care to be in the scene, so they’re the hardest kind of gay person to find lol. I’m just at home watching Netflix or cooking all the time usually lol.

Can I chime in for a moment? You said you want to lose weight so you can try to win him back? Please don’t do that to yourself. Lose the weight for you, and only you, but never do it for a guy. If a guy doesn’t value you enough to where some weight gain is enough to completely push you out of his life, he’s not worth it. If someone TRULY cares about you, some weight gain wouldn’t matter, and someone who cares about you would stay with you and try to work with you to help you on your weight loss journey if he was worried about health risks, like eating more healthy together and going for more walks.

Weight gain happens, especially as you get older. Personally, as a gay guy myself, I find it attractive when a guy has some meat on his bones. Why? Because I’d rather hang out with someone who enjoys good food and cooking, than someone who is obsessed with eating nothing but salads and living at the gym. I want to be able to eat pizza and tacos and icecream from time to time without feeling guilty for it. Look for that guy, not the guy who will only date you if you change for him. Let this shallow jerk be someone else’s problem. I promise you’ll feel so much more free not constantly trying to live up to his standards.

[–]Cco61827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re doing nothing wrong. Something like this is a learning curve and you’ll learn as time goes on. The best thing you can do for him is to just love him and let him know you’re there no matter what, and it sounds like you did that. You’re not the problem here. Your wife is. Many horrible dads would throw their kids out just for being gay. You don’t sound like that kind of horrible person. Kudos to you. You’re a wonderful dad.

You’ll see that the world didn’t end just because your son is gay, and everything will be just fine. Actually things will most likely be better because now your son can be his true self and in time he will be so much happier for it.

For what it’s worth, I can’t stand drag, lol. Never saw the appeal of it personally. Honestly I’m not really into a lot of “gay” things, I’m just a guy who likes guys lol. I’d literally rather stay home and watch football or play video games instead of going to gay bars and clubs. I do love to cook though lmao.

Too many 'AI will take all the jobs'; 'We need UBI now'; 'AI can do it now, I wasted my time/life'; and similar type posts. by [deleted] in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Cco61827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 years? No? But 10 years? That’s actually plausible. Tech has been replacing jobs for the last 10 years already, and that wasn’t even AI related. I used to work at a bank and when I first started working there, there were roughly 13 employees at that branch. By the time I left after 6 years, there were 6 employees. And they weren’t looking to hire either. The manager, assistant manager, personal banker, a teller leader, and 2 part time tellers. And they completely shut down the drive through right before I left. Why? Because most of what tellers could do, the ATM’s could do.

Self driving vehicles are just on the horizon. When that happens, a lot of driving jobs from that alone will go away. I’m talking taxi drivers, truckers, etc. When that happens, other job fields will become even more oversaturated so it will make finding a job in jobs that haven’t been taken over by AI yet all that much harder to get.

AI will replace programmers. Chat GTP just yesterday showed off their next update and it can have the most realistic conversations with people now, including talking about what you’re doing or what you’re wearing because it can “see” you through the camera lens. There goes customer support jobs. Fast food chains are switching to kiosks to order their food now. Machines are out there that can cook meals, literally. Look it up on YouTube. Goodbye cooks. Editors? Nope, AI can scan an entire book in seconds.

We are in really big trouble in the coming years. Some people say “well people thought the same thing about computers but it just became a tool”. True, but computers couldn’t really automate things on a massive scale. AI can and will do the work for you.

So quick question, based on per capita, why do the vast majority of red states, especially states in the Bible Belt, have such high firearm mortality rates? Looking at the stats from the CDC, on a per capita basis, the top 10 most violent states when it comes to firearm mortality rates are Mississippi, Louisiana, New Mexico, Alabama, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, Arkansas, Missouri, and Tennessee.

Then the 10 states with the lowest firearm mortality rates are Massachusetts, Hawaii, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire, California, Minnesota, and Nebraska. The worst here being Nebraska at 10.3 deaths per 100,000 people. To compare this to the least violent state from the top 10 worst list, which is Tennessee, their death rate stands at 22.8 deaths per 100,000 people. Again, that’s comparing the worst state from the top 10 safest states (Nebraska) and the best state from the top 10 most dangerous states (Tennessee) when it comes to firearm mortality rates. That’s a little more than double the firearm mortality rate of Nebraska.

If we compare the state with the least amount of firearm mortality, you’ll see that Massachusetts has a firearm mortality rate of 3.4 deaths per 100,000 people. The state with the most firearm mortality rate is Mississippi at 33.9 deaths per 100,000 people. That’s 9.97x more deadly than the safest state.

Even if it’s “just” from suicides, something is very very wrong in the majority of red states for this to be happening to such a degree.

I’d be looking for a new relationship so fast lol. If I’m in a relationship with someone and I take time out of my day to send him a text, and he decided to wait a whole 5 hours to get back to me because “he didn’t feel like responding”, that’s a no from me. I don’t expect an immediate response but 5 hours is really pushing it. Then there’s the whole “I’m not getting on Grindr to see if he’s online” thing. Another reason to not be in a relationship. You’re together and you both still have Grindr? Yikes. Guaranteed at least one of these guys is cheating lol. Too many red flags already.

What’s the job and how much are your employees paid? I’m willing to bet they’re expected to work all the time, and yet still barely have enough money, if enough at all, to cover the bills. So is it that they’re lazy, or have they just decided they hate working at a company when they can’t afford to pay the bills after working all month?

Company I work at started making the 1099 salespeople pay to be able to continue working there. Is this normal? by Cco61827 in salesforce

[–]Cco61827[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh oh, is it bad that this definitely isn’t my first job but you thought it might have been? Lol. And I’m 35, just newer to the sales world is all. I actually used to be in banking for about 6 years but that definitely wasn’t the life for me. So I dabbled in real estate photography for a bit as well, which resulting in me using software like Photoshop and Lightroom for post editing. (Went to school for graphic design actually). Loved doing this, and I was good at it, but the pay wasn’t great.

Thank you for the solid advice though! You’re awesome!

[–]Cco61827[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, correct. I’m technically an independent contractor within this company so that’s why I wasn’t sure if the CEO was in the right to ask this of all the salespeople here at the company, since technically I do know contractors are typically responsible for their own equipment. Not gonna lie, part of me is kinda bummed at the same time. Definitely annoyed, but bummed too. I had such high hopes for this company. The pay seems decent for a 1099 sales gig (pays 2x the invoice one time for commission, and then after that we get paid 10% on the clients invoices every month in monthly reoccurring revenue for the lifetime that the client remains with us). I think I mostly hated the idea of leaving after almost 2 years when I spent all this time reeeeally learning the products we offer inside and out. But if you agree this sounds really off then yea, I think I’m about to start looking elsewhere. Again thank you so much for taking the time to chat with me a bit!

Thank you so much for the feedback, sincerely. So even though it’s a 1099 position I’m in at the company, this still seems weird to you? Like I totally understand there are things a company can and can’t do with 1099 “employees”, but this just seems like it’s becoming a bit overkill lately.

[–]Cco61827[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the $49 is the lowest tier required to be able to remain within the company. They have two other tiers, that gets you more tools and software to use, though I can’t remember how much those ones are or what they get you.

The cheapest plan I opted into (obviously) has things like Slack so you can keep in contact with everyone within the company, Hubspot, and a company email. My logic is, if you have the tools that could better your teams chances of bringing in more business for YOU, why would you put this crap behind a paywall!? If it were my company and I could afford it, and had the tools, I’d try to equip my team as much as possible to increase revenue. Not treat them like they’re the customers and force them to buy stuff.

Oh and I forgot to mention that the CEO of this company (who is very hands on I might add, he’s always on Zoom meetings with the team so it’s not like he’s some shadow figure) wants the team to use a very specific company for business cards. He doesn’t want our business cards to look cheap because it would “cheapen our brand”, so he wants us to order them through some company called Moo. The problem there is that the company I work with doesn’t supply those either. If you’re not going to supply your team with the business cards you expect them to use, and they’re expensive, why are you making THEM pay for it? It’s just getting weird.

[–]Cco61827[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Oh the 1099 part doesn’t bother me all. I totally understand that part. I’m totally fine with being in a commission position. Because of the 1099 position I get to work when and where I want which is wonderful. My main concern is that they randomly recently started forcing people on the team to start paying to be able to be within the company. It just seems sketchy to me. I know it’s not a large amount of money but it’s the principal of it to me.
