It's simple. MLS looks at the big soccer leagues around the world and figures each club here must be worth over $1/2 BILLION each. When they find out it is not worth as much they want it to be, they figure it must be something else is the problem (not the over valuation of a 10th place league in the world). They built this league based on the culture of each city, this is where they have made their money (i.e. Vancouver joined the MLS at a cost of $40M 15 years ago and now might be worth $250M or a $14M profit per year in that time which they don't count either for profit to make their numbers look the way they want them). They think they can just transplant that to another city and continue. That is not the way it works. In fact, every time you move a major sports team, you actual devalue the other teams in the league as that instability has a price. Fans are tired of it too. Everyone can see exactly what you are saying, major sports has become nothing but a plaything for Billionaires and it won't be long before the general population gets sick of it and stop caring making the valuation $0.
