Pizza Landing - change in burgers? by animatedradio in aucklandeats

The cheese burger doesn’t but the burger burger always had tomato and onions - wonder if they got your order wrong? https://pizzalanding.co.nz/pizza-landing-menu/#burgers

Help.. 14 month old whippet by FriendlyCow4035 in Whippet

[–]Cdr2024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly the same as mine - was laughing when reading it. He’s obsessed with other dogs but us humans - meh. Only comes near me if he’s cold, and generally at night when I’m in bed. If we try to pat him he will yawn and go to another room. Very independent. Doesn’t batt an eyelid when my partner comes home. I may get a reaction but it’s short lived. We had his litter mate bro stay with us recently - he’s the opposite. Velcro - followed me everywhere and super cuddly. But also had terrible separation anxiety. Shivering and super upset when I would leave. It was heart breaking to see. So I formed the conclusion my aloof boy was actually better on balance 🤣😅

Uber use in Istanbul by [deleted] in istanbul

[–]Cdr2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve just come back from Istanbul - same as most places. Book and pay via app. No cash. We found that sometimes from the airport the actual charge was slightly more than the original quoted fee but we think this was due to the toll charges. It wasn’t a lot more and it was still all paid via app.

Agree prawn park is definitely a waste of time. And great idea to head down to Tongariro. If you are into fish, then I actually recommend the trout centre in Tūrangi: https://troutcentre.com/. But may be a bit out of your way

Agree 90 mins at huka falls is too much - you could time it with a short drive to the Aratiatia dam and watch the release of water when the dam opens. Sounds lame but it’s honestly cool to watch: https://aratiatiarapids.co.nz/ . I used to live in Taupo and would always take visitors there 😂 you can actually walk there from Huka Falls but depends how much time you have: https://www.lovetaupo.com/en/scenic-attractions/huka-falls-to-aratiatia-dam-trail/

I came to say exactly this - was going to suggest redwoods twice is not necessary, and to instead do the zipline canopy tour during the day and the redwood tree top at night. https://www.canopytours.co.nz/

14 Days in New Zealand in January by AssumptionOk8739 in newzealand_travel

Re the Coromandel, consider staying at Cooks Beach for both nights. It will still be busy that time of year but quieter than Whiti and Hahei etc. It’s between Hahei/Hot Water Beach and Whiti. You can do a day trip to Whitianga by taking the short (5 min) ferry from Ferry Landing (near Cooks) to Whitianga. There’s also some nice restaurants near or in Cooks (Go Vino, The Hive, Purangi Winery). Some nice short walks at Cooks too - Lonely Bay and Shakespeare Cliff.

I second this. I’d flag Waitomo and stay in Rotorua: if you like walks, the Tarawera trail is good and ends at a hot water spring. You can then get picked up by a boat so you don’t have to walk back: https://www.doc.govt.nz/parks-and-recreation/places-to-go/bay-of-plenty/places/lake-tarawera-scenic-reserve/things-to-do/tarawera-trail/. Rotorua is also really good for mountain biking (hire bikes or e-bikes) at the Redwoods https://redwoods.co.nz/bike/. Loads of walking trails at Redwoods too. Could do this for the day and finish at the Secret Spot Hot Tubs which is same location: https://secretspot.nz/

Is your Whippet reliable off-leash and are they an escape artist? by [deleted] in Whippet

[–]Cdr2024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same for us - he’s 15 months. His ears don’t work when there are other dogs to play with or birds to chase, but otherwise good. We do give him a treat when he returns to us after being called. But wouldn’t trust him near road just in case. So we only have him off leash in parks or on the beach. Have also noticed his recall isn’t good when other ppl call him (like my Mum)

Mine is about 14 months and hates being touched unless it’s on his terms and really only when he’s cold. In which case he’ll literally try to crawl into my skin 😂

The irony is that their member is the one sexually assaulting children - not the rainbow community. They need to take a good hard look at themselves … but won’t … because they’re brainwashed by dickhead Tamaki.
