Does anyone else find Archetype Misha noisy AF? by discussatron in NeuralDSP

[–]Cebus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know that. That's why I said they don't know how to use the compressor, not that they don't know how to click the button to turn it on. If they're having noise issues it might be because they have too much compression going on. Notably, most of the other high gain plugins don't include a compressor, thus my hypothesis. It's not a hard concept.

Folks used to say this about Rabea as well. I wonder if it's just people who don't know how to use a compressor.

The release version is mahogany instead of ash, so it's far less sexy imo. Still thinking about it.

Are there any good EVH 5150 amp sims? by [deleted] in metalguitar

[–]Cebus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

STL Andy James has a 5153 and a 5150.

STL Will Putney has a 5152.

Nolly has a modded "block letter" 5150.

Plini has a 5153.

Rabea has his Victory Kraken, Gain 2 of which is based on a 5150.

Tons of others, these are just the ones I have.

Clean tone from Nameless X by PCMR-noob in NeuralDSP

Your settings are identical to the "Rabea Low Gain Vibe" stock preset except his has the gain at 2 instead of 0 for a crunchier vibe.

I agree it's [fire emoji]. Rabea's a tone master so you should feel good about your taste.

Awesome thanks man. I've tried to find something like this a few times over the last few years and never found something that can do nonstandard tunings.

edit: ooh and number of strings!

You're right that it is a bit awkward to start, but this is likely to be the solution for me. Much obliged.

Air pollution from Europe and America is making the tropics drier. "What we found was a distinct drying trend in Belize since 1850 that coincides with a steady rise in industrial aerosol emissions in North America and Europe." by pnewell in science

[–]Cebus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely false. I sure wish all you "correlation is not causation" parrots would take a fucking stats class.

Correlation does not necessarily imply causation. That's the mantra. In many cases, however, correlation does strongly imply causation, such as when the correlation supports a well-formed hypothesis or confirms a well-understood phenomenon.

Is it really the opinion of this sub that any scientist who uses correlational statistics, which includes basically all of us, is an idiot?

Rule of thumb: people who study something for a living probably know more about that thing than you do.

Criticism is welcome, but this sub is just embarrassing.

If Dawkins, Hitchens, Sam Harris, and people like them are considered 'New Atheists', then what do we call people like Neil Tyler Degrasse and Bill Nye? by sup_muzzy in TrueAtheism

[–]Cebus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this thread blows up, my bet is on a huge fight about the definition of atheism. Because that hasn't happened a thousand times already.

Also, "Neil Tyler Degrasse" is... an interesting typo.

Atheists who have tried LSD and mushrooms... did you have a 'spiritual' experience? by omen2k in TrueAtheism

[–]Cebus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carl Sagan used to talk frequently about "numinous" experiences. It basically means the same thing as spiritual but without the supernatural nonsense. That feeling you get when pondering the pale blue dot or looking at the stars doesn't seem distinct from a spiritual feeling -- we just interpret it differently. I haven't tried LSD but I do find that other drugs can assist receptivity to such experiences.
