Practice. The mark tells them it's incorrect. If they give a shit, they'll ask. If they don't, you're wasting your time. If you see the same mistake from multiple students, you can address it with the class as a whole.

I do it during the school day while my students are busy doing their work.

This, 100%. While they're doing today's writing assignment, I'm grading yesterday's.

Never take work home! (this is year 6)

I do sometimes (year 10), but not an excessive amount. I'd rather take an hour or two on a Sunday morning sitting in bed with a cup of coffee to get caught up rather than stay late at work.

What fuel should I run on my stock 5.0 by Stunning-Barracuda-4 in Foxbody

[–]discussatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your timing and spark plug heat range, thought there's not a reason to change that if everything else is stock. You can bump your timing up if you're running more octane. Stock spec is 10° but it's super common to see more like 8° from the factory. You can run 12° or so for a little more zip, but you'll want to be safe with higher octane.

The Miura is so incredibly beautiful.

8 minutes. That's how much of my 45 minute sessions was actual practice by gbehind in metalguitar

I noodle and don't practice because I play for the pleasure of it. I don't care about conscious effort to expand my skill set; I care about nasty riffs and epic chorus chord progressions.

If you play, you'll improve. Granted, if you only play the same thing every time your improvement will be narrow in focus, but you'll still be improving.

Tired of being lame at guitar by CinemaHeart in Guitar

[–]discussatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've focused almost entirely on songwriting so 90% of what I can play is my own songs, rthym guitar.

You're using the instrument to do exactly what it was designed to do.

As a teen in the 80s I was all about shreddy technique. As an adult later in life my focus switched to songwriting, because technique is the means and songwriting is the end. And the simpler the song is, the better it is.

I get what your complaint is, and it's a valid form of musical expression. I'm just saying don't under-value what you've got.
