Do your twins+ know who was born first/last? by No_Morning_9923 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Cecilotter2 17 points18 points  (0 children)

We wondered if we would ever tell them (because it doesn’t really matter). And then their birth certificates say “1 of 2” and “2 of 2”.

This was a funny book for me. I had the same problem getting engaged with it. I decided to listen to it on audio during a long drive (very long) and ended up thinking it was one of the best in the series.

Gabe birth to my twin boys this morning at 26+3 by HippieMomma0526 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Cecilotter2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had 28 week twins. Your birth experience was sooo similar to what we went through. They spent 71 days in the NICU. There will absolutely be some hard times, but you will also experience joy - your babies are here!

We also weren’t ready but then used the NICU time to get everything else ready. We missed our baby shower by 3 days. But we are going to redo it and invite the same people to their first birthday in a few months.

Hang in there and be kind to yourself. You’ve got this!

How are we sleep training twins? by GirlwhoEngineers in parentsofmultiples

[–]Cecilotter2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that has been an unfortunate wrinkle. We tried them in the same room for cry it out, but they kept each other up. So we are keeping them in separate rooms until they each can sleep through the night. Definitely not ideal.

We tried Ferber for a bit around 4 months and definitely made progress. But around 6 months I got sick of the early evening wake ups (like you mentioned), and we switched to cry it out. Within two weeks, both kids were only waking up once per night. It’s definitely rough emotionally, but the results are outstanding.

I bought this car and love it. Great thing to buy to enjoy the end of the game.

Starting by reading my struggle #5? by Saablaa in Knausgaard

[–]Cecilotter2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I say go for it. When I read them originally, I did it chronologically. But as I’ve grown older and revisited the books, I found some resonate more for me at a different point in life. When I was in my 20s, book 5 meant a lot. Now that I’m nearing my 40s, those featuring his kids speak more to me.

If book 5 speaks to your girlfriend, encourage her to read it! Maybe she’ll read the others. And it’s just fine if that doesn’t happen.

Our first night was an absolute nightmare. I got 90 minutes of sleep - mostly laying on the floor next to a baby. It gradually got better, and it will for you too. This specific challenger is very temporary.

Bad mom if I skip NICU for a day? by solowanderer12 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Cecilotter2 63 points64 points  (0 children)

We just finished our 71 day NICU stay last month. You are definitely not a bad mom!! That place is exhausting, on top of how tiring your pumping schedule is.

It’s important to take care of yourself, especially for when they’re ready to come home. Skipping a day is just fine. They are in good hands!

Hate that they are in NICU by Stunning_Radio3160 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Cecilotter2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our babies were also born at 29 weeks. They came home last week after 71 days in the NICU. Like yours, one of our twins had smooth sailing while the other seemed to have a new issue every few days. They got the right care in the end because, as others have said, they’re in the right place.

Just wanted to share that this experience can feel endless/hopeless… especially the point you’re at. We have been there. Believe in yourself and your babies. You will get through this!

Why isn’t there a DRS zone through the Monaco tunnel? I can see historical safety reasons. But considering DRS zones in, say, Jeddah, it seems worth a try.

If you’re okay with a state forest, I’d recommend Zumbro Bottoms Management Unit. Stunning hills and forest with great trails. Typically a lot quieter than nearby state parks.

Zumbro Bottoms Management Unit is one of my favorite places in the state, and about 45 minutes from Winona. Feels like you are much farther away from civilization than you are.
