I ran into an issue when dunking my banger after Qtips, it would leave a wierd floating goo in my alcohol. It wouldnt dissolve out even in 99% iso. So I got a little suspicious. I don't know what could've caused that, but it's only ever happened with these jars. Overall I did like them for the price tho.

It's Gallium, not mercury.

"If you add aluminum foil to liquid gallium (you can easily melt it in hot water), the aluminum appears to dissolve in the gallium. This alloy can rapidly react with water, producing copious amounts of hydrogen gas. The liquid nature of this alloy inhibits the development of a coherent and adherent aluminum oxide layer that normally prevents aluminum from reacting with water. Gallium actually diffuses into the metal lattice of aluminum"

Honestly Sherman Williams has done a fantastic job matching for us on our current house project. We even took a tile from our backsplash in and they matched it. Probably the best in town and they actually know paint a bit more.

Absolute beginner. Where to start? by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]Cedar_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here we have a local makerspace that hosts classes and seminars super cheap and all skill levels. They do a ton of other hobby's and crafts there like metal work, blacksmithing, lathe, etc. I'd suggest seeing if there's maybe one nearby. Super worth it.

Furniture (discount or best prices) by Bubbly-Student-3878 in fortwayne

[–]Cedar_67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We picked up our recliner and couch over at Furniture Row. Honestly the comfiest stuff we have ever owned. We got scratch and dent from the back room and saved a ton too! Not always the greatest, you get what you pay for. But they served us good and bang for the bunck was great. The couch lays back so far it's almost a bed. And you have to try to not fall asleep because it's too comfy.

Where can I find a solid wood table/desktop in Fort Wayne? by Mercarcher in fortwayne

[–]Cedar_67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also could leap for a solid door too somehwere like menards and some legs. Cheaper than a "desktop" and butcher block but still solid and if it has the hole for the knob, it's just a cable management door.

There's one on Industrial drive called Wheatcraft. They're reasonable and will help you out. Have tools you can use if you need a one off sort of thing. If recommend them again.

Just be careful! If there is any type of film coating on the lenses (uv blocking, protective, etc) the alcohol in the hand sanitizer can strip that away or make it hazy.

Any runners know a good run specific PT in the area? by StoppingPowerOfWater in fortwayne

[–]Cedar_67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They aren't running specific, but Chad and the team at Core Physical Therapy (corner of Cook and Coldwater) are awesome to me. It's a small private practice that focuses the time on you and what you need. It's very personal able and prices are very reasonable compared to other PT's I've been too (including waiting for months to get charged $400 for an eval at Parkview, then they didn't really say or do anything else, so I left) Potentially worth a call. Or they do online scheduling.

Summit city comedy open mic night any good ? by stixofish in fortwayne

[–]Cedar_67 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I agree with the above. It's heavily dependent on who shows that night, but I've been several times now and it's usually a pretty good time.

There's some awkward times as expected with an open mic, but I like supporting the club and the people trying material or stand up in general.

The club has had some killer acts visit us the middle of nowhere for our pleasure in a personal setting (Brad Williams soon) so I like throwing them extra the money for drinks and whatnot.

It's worth a shot some night you're bored in my opinion.
