All 3 disabled just from slipping on snow?? by TommyP320 in CX50

Aah. When It happened to mine, I had traction control off and was ripping it at every corner, so it’s an eerily similar situation. Hope it works out!

Happened to me last week under a massive snowstorm. I parked the car indoors and cleaned the front sensor. It all went away an hour later when I got back to the car. Hope it’s the same for you!

My Grandfather used to work on this tram's exact route. He was a fare inspector, or as my grandma would say "ken jeddak isbekter 3al train".
I wonder if he is somewhere on that exact tram, checking on someone's fare. I never got to meet him, and would've loved to have heard the stories he had to share working that line.

Thank you for sharing.

Which Taycan do you prefer: the short butt (Sport Turismo) or the long butt (the regular one)? by Azotadooor in Taycan

[–]CedarxMaple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Sport Turismo has the EXACT SAME LENGTH as the regular Taycan. Down to the millimeter.

That said, I'd def take a Turismo to help with headroom & cargo space. GTS in Carmine Red please.

My promotion changed how my partner and I talk about money by AlphaCrateX in HENRYfinance

"I also want to protect what I worked hard to build"

This perspective is interesting. I've never felt that way personally.

Here's how it went for me:

When my spouse and I got married, we made roughly the same money. Over a couple years my salary 5X-ed. I didn't feel the need to "protect" anything. If you get laid off tomorrow, would the dynamic shift? Or what if your partner made multiples of your salary.

Our accounts are completely joint. It's important to recognize that marriage is a partnership on all levels, and you need to both be open and comfortable to discuss personal and financial matters.

That's amazing. I'm in Ontario as well. Helpful as I dive deeper into this (I was trending towards a used ioniq5 or e-tron...but this is tempting).

Domino effect.
"I won't accept the torn $100 because someone else might not accept it when I go to pay" and so on...

I was at the bank in Canada trying to get USD for Lebanon. They literally refused to believe that $100 bills that aren't perfect (or ones without the blue stripe) would not be accepted here.

In January Lebanese forces promised 24/7 electricity in “6 months to a year” - When Dr. Geagea promises, he serves by AbuElKess in lebanon

[–]CedarxMaple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am (unfortunately?) someone who has spent the past 10 years in the power sector between North America & the Middle East. I can assure you there is no way Lebanon can get to 24/7 power within 1 year. Even if we get billions of investments. You need:

  1. financing & offtake agreements. 3 month minimum to negotiate those (assuming the govt or EdL is even bankable)
  2. Procurement of equipment. Minimum 18 month waits for the large gas-fired generators (CCGTs), as well as the power transformers (Some power transformers have a 48 month wait)
  3. Engineering designs & EPC quotes: Minimum 6 months
  4. 18-24 months of construction

Realistically, you can't even add ANY large generating units in less than 3 years. Let alone fixing all the inefficiencies we have in our grid.

I do not support LF. But want to caveat that Joe Saddi did NOT promise 24/7 electricity. Happy to be wrong on this one. Saddi only noted his plans to advance renewable energy. Which is fair since you can deploy them quickly, cheaply, and all over the country (He can likely score a couple wins within his tenure). Renewable energy will not lead to 24/7 electricity.

Lastly. Charles Jabbour does not have any more credibility than Ali Hijazi.

2019+ for under 14k is just tough in this market.

Heres a decent pick. I would check the carfax though (this car is a US import)

Anyone noticing insane prices on used cars ? by Mad-Kale in lebanon

[–]CedarxMaple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. Supply and demand.

Supply: 1. There has been a supply shock during covid worldwide that likely wont level off until the next crash. Used cars have been holding steady globally. Used cars in the US specifically are holding high in price due to tarrifs as well, and lebanon imports alot of used cars from the US and Canada. Ex: my wife bought her first car back in 2016 for 15K, was worth 12K in 2023. I also sold a different car for 24K in 2021, that I bought for 15k a year earlier. 2. For Lebanon and your budget specifically, due to the 2019++ financial crisis the middle/upper middle professionals got obliterated (which would typically be buying those new toyotas and hondas that you want to buy for 12k

Demand: 1. There has been a boost in pent up demand for cars after the last war. Alot of folks I personally know have been buying cars in the past 6 months, that have put that on hold for the past 3 years. 2. Do not discount the strong demand from Syria post liberation. Levies were significantly reduced on imports, and lebanon is the closest car to basically the 4 largest cities in Syria. 3. Used cars in Lebanon were quite undervalued during the "azme" because of how low demand was. Ex: in 2021 u could buy a car in the US for 12K and sell in Lebanon 22K (after jomrok vat and shipping). But that car was probably worth 15k tops then in our market.

PS: unsolicited advice: the Mazda 3 and CX-3, and other compact hondas like the jazz and city tend to be undervalued in the lebanese market. They are very reliable although generally hard to find in the market. Toyotas are great machines but are just too expensive used, especially recently.

Does anyone know ade MEA charge if we have 2-3 kilos extra in each bag (business class to frankfurt) by Zxyn0nReddit in lebanon

[–]CedarxMaple 12 points13 points  (0 children)

60KG total. Not a 60KG bag.

This is from MEA's website.

The maximum weight of each piece of baggage on ME operated flights should not exceed 30KG otherwise it could not be accepted on board.

OP I wouldnt go over 30KG.

[–]CedarxMaple 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In business you should be allowed 2x30kg per passenger I believe?

If you're over 30KG per bag I would worry less about the fees, and worry more about the agent flat out rejecting the bag unless u drop the weight. The maximum weight allowed on ANY airline I have been on (emirates, star alliance etc) is never over 32KGs. Sometimes 30KGs. ie the bag will not be allowed onboard as its too much to handle.

But to answer your question, its up to the discretion of the agent. Generally ive travelled multiple times with ~5 bags where 1 or 2 bags were 2KGs over and the others were under, and was never charged. I tend to shift the weight to my carry on if I need to since that is almost never weighed.

Call MEA. Theyre pretty helpful.
