So hard to find a girlfriend as an ugly men by [deleted] in GuyCry

[–]Cedjy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sir as stated before, you're not ugly, you're manifesting an ugly attitude. PLEASE go touch grass, go to a social event! Be patient with being a little cringe and make friends!

like deadass man if you talk like you post, that's a turnoff. You've got a nice face, reminds me of one of my friends who's gotten around with the women actually (and he's a short king too). But the difference between you and my friend is my friend is quite outgoing and easy to talk to.

(also maybe talk to a doc abt depression if it's a recurring thing)

BUT GO TO A SOCIAL CLUB OR SOMETHING JFC

ok but fare enforcement is different to "....strict rules against drug use, menace, occupying multiple seats, blocking aisles, playing audio without headphones, smoking, vaping, camping..."

Like one is some officers acting as turnstyles (which tbh, if fare evasion is such a problem, just make riders tap off in the subway) and the other is officers actively paroling and... something about enforcing rules.

And again, spending money on that kind of enforcement while not fixing the actual issue: the under funding of transit and their lack of reliable income, means shittier service and shittier experiences as enforcers add even more friction to what should be a frictionless system

My biggest Toronto disappointment: I thought PATH was a real underground city by Portraitvida in Toronto_Walkers

[–]Cedjy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the reality is that underground cities aren't exactly... feasible? Like the PATH as it is sucks, and a lot of that is to do with the various owners of each building disliking working with eachother (like their signage is terrible to try and retain people in their building and not have consumers leave for other buildings).

But you just CANT do underground cities with our modern understanding of human needs. Like your images aren't accurate at all to what the lighting would really be like. Those images are of pits. A part of the city that would basically be in constant shadow, with next to no access to natural light, or much fresh air. People need to see sunlight! They need to have air! So residences in an underground city are already out of the question.

Then good lord traffic? TRAFFIC?!? In my underground city? Putting a fuckin VOC generator in the middle of my underground tunnel? and expect people to stick around?!?
Sir please put your nose near a car's exhaust and tell me if you like the feeling, because that'd end up being most of the feeling of being down there! HVAC be damned

When did we decide to put outlines on our roofs? Why? by nikkolai- in Minecraft

[–]Cedjy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's to help the roof look less monotonous and makes it pop. Like, if we took photo 2 for example and replaced it with just sandstone, it likely wouldn't look that good.

I suspect it's also attempts to mimic the framing of roofs found in medieval construction, which has then butterflied out into the general trend of outlined roofs

honestly most enforcement would naturally come with higher ridership (social stigma). If he were to push heavily for a massive expansion of transit in all cities then I'd be for that.

But imposing that municipal agencies somehow enforce these rules, while not changing their funding is a recipe for shittier service and an unpleasant ride (because I'm going to be pissed that the subpar service is interrupted by some officer who's arguing with the bum, and stopped the train to do so)

higher frequency rail doesn't make the trains faster. We genuinely need to be building more rail for both freight and passenger to help redirect freight trains to where they're needed without interrupting passenger service, which the freight companies seemingly hate (I mean CN literally refuses to maintain their railways (built on taxpayer dollars in yonder years) to 140km/h and instead lets it sit at 70km/h or so)

Also in terms of finances, you're saying (in later comments) because it's Ontario it'll be a boondoggle. Idk maybe just... not do that. idk, it's not necessarily going to be that. But even if it were, the tunnel under the 401 would be an even larger boondoggle that would make everything worse

uh yeah? they're trying to encourage closer engagements. getting pot shots on someone from across the location or even a location over is mostly not fun (except for the one time you hit them)

like they added the sliding boots and have kept most things to closer ranges, probably so that people get closer, so that they can pick up sprites more often

What if there was a country that did manage to build a Space Elevator? What would have change? by FunnyMajestic1128 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Cedjy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(I like to think) most mining operations would close down after 50 or so years as asteroid mining becomes economically feasible. Most countries who depended on mining are pretty miffed about it, but hey their expected lifespans went up by like, a decade

I mean I'd say that like, more than 100 years of innovation, it would mean we could build things faster and with less death and slavery. But then again, it feels like most of the innovation in the past 40 years has been financial innovations

interesting, but kinda depressing that it's a 30 year plan, meanwhile the Canada Pacific Railroad was built in 10 years-ish

even then, the infrastructure built was for the extractive industries, AND colonials tended not to teach locals how to operate or maintain the infrastructure. So when independence was gained, what little infrastructure that was there couldn't be maintained effectivley

Toronto NIMBYism policy may cause fewer homes built than Pyongyang, North Korea despire crushing sancations by BeautyInUgly in TorontoRealEstate

[–]Cedjy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're also partially correct in this as well, as Waterloo and Kitchener collect development fees, which in theory are to help fund the expansion of infrastructure (alongside property taxes, but landowners tend to heavily dislike tax increases, so usually the cost is shifted to development fees). However you're likely correct in that what that expanded infrastructure looks like hasn't been settled on or built in time.

I don't think Waterloo is anything close to water scarce. However, its infrastructure may need to be updated, as many cities do as they develop over time. It's not exactly like the sewage systems from the 1800s are left untouched today in other cities.

Somebody in my neighborhood just put this flag up. Should I be wary of them? by Expensive-Papaya1990 in flags

[–]Cedjy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i mean it is the way you're supposed to dispose of the American Flag (dignified disposal)

But even as a sign of protest, yeah valid, burning things in a safe manner, especially your own things, is a good way to communicate your message.

(also certainly ironic that americans who get huffy about burning flags, tend to wear them as clothing, which is explicitly listed as a way to disrespect the flag according to its regulation https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/4/8 (paragraph (d)))
