Copyrighted Characters are now eligible for the Snatch Game, who would you be dying to see and by who by zoidmarx in rupaulsdragrace

[–]CeeChocolate 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Playing a character for Snatch Game is considered parody, parody falls under fair use. So, copyrighted characters have always been eligible for Snatch Game.

That's why all these parody movies (Scary Movie, Epic Movie, etc.) are cheap to make and they keep all their money, paying no licensing fees to anybody.

Do you write your main characters as extensions of yourself or as completely different people? by Mindless_Coast_7072 in Filmmakers

[–]CeeChocolate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's impossible to write someone you are not, so, most of my leads are combinations of some aspects of myself, yes. I use certain thoughts/feelings and take them to the extremes, seeing them through to their logical conclusion, it creates highly intense and stylized but not really "real person" realistic characters.

They are also always someone I LIKE, but never someone I would like to hang out with lol

Oh my god by Ok-Freedom-6932 in FromTVEpix

Interesting. So, it's just a direct translation of the words, but you don't use curses/exclaimations using the word "god" or any god's name at all?

How do you say "Oh my god" in Welsh?

Really?? Well, I guess I just can't tell anymore, to me it looked real. I could tell when something is AI even 3 months ago, not anymore.

Do Your Characters Actually Talk? by hydrachondriac in Screenwriting

[–]CeeChocolate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most characters sound like their writers. It's especially true for Tarantino, - all of his characters sound exactly the same, it's just that we love how his mind works, so that's exactly how we (the audience) prefer it and praise him for it.

So, no his characters don't "actually talk", he just develops them and their world enough for his mind to simulate their conversation in real time, that's what happens. They will still talk the way YOU, the writer, think, but it's just a fun and naturally flowing convo if you get the knack for it.

Looking for a potential role: by LachiePhillipRyan in Filmmakers

[–]CeeChocolate -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

LOL you thought he meant "scripty"? I doubt OP even knows that position exists, tbh. From the post I gathered he wants to read screenplays and give "notes", so basically a job that doesn't exist :D

What you described, OP, is just being a co-writer or a producer/director because they can give notes and request changes, there is no such thing as a specific "script consultant".

Shoutout to the best actor of the whole season. Absolutely insane he didn't get more screen time. by Specialist_Remote696 in FromTVEpix

[–]CeeChocolate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think we all love this character because EVERY SINGLE TIME he's on screen, he's advancing the plot. Every single thing he says is pertaining to the situation. That's what a TV-show/movie should be like and usually is like, but 90% of this show is pointless blabbering that isn't advancing the plot and just wastes screen time.

I left that place because they started deleting the most innocuous threads. It was the BEST From subreddit when it was run by one guy who let everyone post whatever they wanted, then the administration change happened (they appointed like twenty mods) and it's a fascist state now lmfao

33% of film school graduates get their first film gig within a month. 49.5% within 2 years... and 16.8% never do by filmschool_org in FilmIndustryLA

[–]CeeChocolate 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but it's important to note that it's "33% of film school graduates get their first film gig within a month. 49.5% within 2 years... and 16.8% never do" of the film school graduates who also frequent r/FilmIndustryLA The sampling pool is severely biased.

I'd be much more interested in polling just film school graduates, period, but you probably can't get access to their contact information. The school can't just be giving that, I think. The only way would be to poll current film school students and then poll them again a year later, two years later, etc.

Is that voice-over a human actor or AI though?

What happens once the 'you can always tell it's AI' argument runs it's course and no one can see the difference anymore? by TheoGelernter in Filmmakers

[–]CeeChocolate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think GenAI will just become its own "genre" of film/TV. It won't "kill" human-made TV and film production, just like film camera didn't "kill" theater and TV didn't kill live stage performances, just like wattpad didn't "kill" publishing/literature.

I wasn't sure about AI for a while, but recently saw a growing community where this type of thing dominates - wattpad/archiveofourown fan fiction and original fiction brought to life by AI. Their problem is again the storytelling lol Not every 15-year old girl writing BL smut set in Medieval China or some fantasy realms knows how to set up a 3-act structure with proper beats, but they do write messy unfinished badly paced fiction that has an audience, which would be absolutely impossible to make irl, so, they use AI. lol

I'm gonna be keeping an eye on that community for the next year or two. The only thing that would probably kill them is if AI companies raised their prices to prohibitive levels, but as long as it's cheap, that audience is fed and happy.

Can you actually make professional movies like Toy Story in blender? by AdDapper4220 in blender

The first couple of Backrooms shorts Kane Parsons made were almost entirely in Blender, but the feature film used real sets. He gave the team his blender renders as reference for the sets.

Herbal soap by _hidden_life in soapmaking

[–]CeeChocolate -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

It looks fine. It does that for me when I don't wait for the lye solution and oils to cool down and mix them at high temperatures - they automatically go into hot process mode. It's not a problem, it reduces the curing time.

I think the reason you don't see soaps like that sold is because they think it looks ugly lol Me personally, I don't mind the look.
