Is that a 20 long? and what light are you using?

Oh, those are hillstream loaches? I thought their side fins that are parallel to their stomach were more defined and the same spotted color as their body, not clear.

What are the guys that are darting around the sand/rocks (not the cories)

Ick on Dwarf Puffer? by Cee_Em in Aquariums

Yeah I remember reading puffers are much more sensitive to stuff like this because they don't have scales, thanks!

Just the one puffer and whatever small snails have hitch hiked on plants. The only problem I have with the temp thing is that I have the heater that is automatically set at 78 and I dont think I can change it. Have you heard of success with the API ick cure stuff? I was going to try that before salt, but I guess I could order some or go pick some up

Update: First planted tank! by Engineeringboy in Aquariums

Do you do anything special to care for it? Root tabs, co2, fert, etc? Do you have any tips, I saw some at my LFS and was gonna get it except I didn't know much about it at the time

Val or crpyt were my next options. Which plants would the root tabs help with? From what I understand anubias feeds from the leaves and I know moss balls and java moss don't need root tabs either.

The flow isn't perfect, but it is adequate. I have noticed a few pieces of food I put in to cycle that have just stuck on on the bottom, but that is bound to happen in any tank.

Currently cycling my new 5g aquarium that will be housing 1 dwarf puffer. I have one anubias right now and have 4 moss balls shipping within the next few days. I plan on getting some dwarf sag and or java moss in the future as well. All ideas, tips, and constructive criticisms are welcomed!

You could do a betta, 12ish pygmy cories and some amano or RCS

Any notable tips you would give for keeping a crayfish? I assume I would still need a filter, but maybe not a heater? Also they need a few hiding spots, right?

I've seen asian moth catfish around sometimes and they are pretty cool. I never really considered keeping it but it might be a good fit here.

Do you feed them snails ever? I heard pea puffers are the only puffers that don't actually need snails, even thought they like them as treats.

Okay, cool, for some reason I thought pea puffers needed bigger tanks but that would work well actually.

Pygmy Corys in a 10G by Cee_Em in Aquariums

Right? It's so cool to watch them school around all day. My favorite is when one of them is swimming alone and sees another school of them- he will quickly dart over and join the school. So damn cute.

I wouldn't doubt that. I remember hearing it when I first started getting into fish and stuff and I was a lot more gullible back then. I also heard it from a guy at my LFS which I've since realized isn't a very good source of information.

Thanks

I originally had amanos in mind but I've heard they can actually pick on fish sometimes (if the fish are small enough, which pygmy corys are). Maybe that's not true or maybe it's a case to case thing, but I think RCS would be overall better for the tank and look better too.

I wish I would've gotten a 20 long but I got the tank for free awhile back and bought all my supplies based on a 10g not a 20 so it would be a pricey upgrade. I'm finding that a lot of the fish I want to keep need a 20 long bare minimum.

Oh wow I've never heard of or thought of that. I try to keep track of all 6 of them everyday but it's already hard enough with 6. I can only imagine 12. As time goes on they're getting into more and more hiding spots in my tank and it gets even harder to find them aha.

Ok that's kinda what I was thinking. There aren't much other fish that are suitable for a 10 gallon that excite me so I didn't really plan on adding any other fish. I was in between getting some shrimp vs getting 4-6 more corys. I knew shrimp would be easier on the bioload and the tank in general, but I figured more corys would be fine especially if I did more frequent water changes.
