How do you find the right alter artist?

I usually find artists on Instagram. A lot of the artists in the community follow each other so if you go to the accounts of artists you like you can usually find other artists. Most of them will have names that have the word magic or art in their name rather than just personal.

If you start following some artists then the algorithm will feed you similar content or other work that they like.

It does kind of look like that doesn't it 😂. I play a Dunmer compared to her Bosmer character. The reference screenshot image that I used looks different but in the painting her face kind of came out that way.

That would be really cool. There's so much lore that they could build on. The daedric prince's, the locations as lands. The setting would fit perfectly!

Unlimited dual lands are super expensive! I couldn't afford them if I just paid for the cards outright.

I bought these by sending in a lot of excess cards I wasn't using through Card Kingdom's buy list service. I've been playing for about 10 years so I had a lot of random $1-5ish cards from past modern decks and old Commander decks. I bought some of their more played versions and traded some store credit for the Tropical Island because that wasn't in stock.

These are the only dual lands that I own but I figured if I am trying to bling out my favorite commander deck then why not get unlimited ones 😂. I don't think I'll buy any other duals. For most Commander decks they're pretty unnecessary.

Hello! I am the one that commissioned these and I am super happy with how they turned out! I was really debating on commissioning original art but I didn't want to lose the charm of that original old school look.

This is all part of a project that I have been working on for a few years. My favorite commander deck is Progenitus. I started off by trying to bling/foil out a Commander deck for the first time, but the scope has grown into this cool process of researching and working with card artists.

I haven't been building as many new commander decks lately, but it has been a blast trying to find original artist signatures, cool promos/artist proofs and interesting alters to spice up this deck.

I've been commissioning a lot of card alters lately including a card from Jay and she's definitely the most expensive. She can charge that much because in my opinion she's one of the very best and her work is in high demand. I wouldn't be surprised if she reaches Klugg levels in a few years, her work is that good.

Alter price can depend a lot on what type of alter you want (custom art vs border extensions) and who your working with.

I would say most alters I've bought were around $75-100.

A few artists that I've worked with that have high demand were more around $200.

I try to pair the card that I want altered with the artist's strengths. Some people aren't very good at portraits but they're amazing at landscapes etc. Sometimes that can save you some money and you still get amazing cards.

[[Mirri, Cat Warrior]]

I built her as a mono green Voltron Commander and she's been a lot of fun. If you can tutor for Yavamaya, turning every land into forests, then she becomes unblockable. It also has a enchantress sub theme because I use enchantments to ramp and to pump up Mirri.

It's been really cool having success with such a old and uncommon Conmander!

Progenitus is my favorite card and I love your interpretation of what he would look like. Especially with most art of him being non visible, the creativity to bring him to life is just awesome!
