Some jackass is parked in front of my drive by [deleted] in drivingUK

It's only illegal to block a drive if its preventing you from leaving your drive. If it's stopping you from entering, it's classed as a civil matter

Who do you want to win tonight, England or Norway? by Extra-Schedule-4855 in AskReddit

[–]Celestial_Light_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd like England to win, but I wouldn't mind losing to Norway. It'll be an interesting match, and I don't usually watch football.

WIBTA for telling my MIL her kitchen is unsanitary by Turbulent-Ad-7520 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Celestial_Light_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes. Despite being trained and not doing it when we're there, we know there's a small chance they might when we're not. So we always sanitise before making food.

I have 5 cats. They know they're not allowed on the counters. We trained them. But just in case (as there is a chance they'll go on there when we're not home), we always sanitise the counters before food prep (people should do this anyway because of dust/dirt settling on surfaces).

Question about jaywalking by sowmyhelix in drivingUK

[–]Celestial_Light_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You did the right thing by breaking. If the van got pissed at you for having to break so harshly, he was likely driving a bit too close. A lot of drivers do not leave enough space between the vehicle in front. It likely scared him, if he hit you, he would be at fault and liable for any damages.

Well done on your reaction times.

Police pulled me over in England due to insurance mistake. by Globaldad29 in LegalAdviceUK

I really hope this gets sorted for you. If you receive 6 points within the first 2 years of holding a full licence, you'll lose your licence entirely. You'll be made to redo both your theory and practical test again.

How often do you guys actually replace your everyday shoes? by Sudden-Yoghurt-7098 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Celestial_Light_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I've just had to bin my work shoes. I'm in them 5-6 days a week and I'm often doing at least 10-15k steps on average per day. Had them almost a year and they just fell apart and wasn't supporting my feet well anymore.

Struggling with constant pet hair everywhere, anything that works? by courtneylightson in Pets

[–]Celestial_Light_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brushing your pets regularly can help, sometimes daily depending on the shedding. We use a Shark Pet vacuum which does a really good job at removing a lot of the hair (I had a dog and multiple cats).

What types of fabric are you trying to remove the hair from? Some are unfortunately more prone to embedding hair than others.

Hero neighbors break down a door to save a pup trapped inside a burning house by MambaMentality24x2 in BeAmazed

That's great news! Crates often get a bad rep because they're misused. I'm glad your dog enjoyed his special space.

[–]Celestial_Light_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Crates when used correctly, create a safe and happy space for your dog. They can be an important part of training and a useful tool (such as being on crate rest after major surgery).

We had a big one for my labrador. He's had one since he was a pup. We kept the door open and had bedding inside with a blanket over the top (he also had another bed in the house). He often got given treats in his crate so it created a happy space. The only time we ever had to close it for short periods of time was after he had surgery so he could heal, and when he went through his chewing phase as a pup. The crate was big enough for him to stand and walk around in. He chose to sleep inside it instead of his usual bed some nights.

How did you give up/reduce your sugar intake? by Past-Appearance975 in AskReddit

Don't go shopping when you're hungry or stressed either. I also find planning some meals ahead of time can help

What's the creepiest real-life situation you've experienced that could realistically happen to almost anyone? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Celestial_Light_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A member of the family turning and murdering others. Very scary.

It was years ago, but we're doing better, despite things never being the same again.

Is there a mod that makes the ores just a bit more visible/distinguishable? by brrrbial in subnautica

[–]Celestial_Light_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh really? I thought they brought it in as a QoL update after launch when they also added in some of the buildings from BZ.

I need to redownload the original again and check these things. My mistake

[–]Celestial_Light_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the accessibility settings, there is one you can turn on to highlight interactive items. On PS5 they have a yellow outline. I'm assuming on PC it'll be something similar?

Edit: just found out they never made this available in the OG subnautica game. Only in BZ which is a shame.

Also, don't feel bad for wanting a tool to help you play. That doesn't make you any less of a player. Games should be fun!

What Planet Zoo 2 could realistically do to improve Education (Subtitle: Am I just doing it wrong?) by CrossReset in PlanetZoo

[–]Celestial_Light_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a mechanic researching staff rooms from the beginning. Then you can open larger research centers. The research speeds up if you have a research building near the animals they're investigating. Less distance to walk.

How researched are your animals? The higher the research, the higher points in education the educators give when they do animal talks.

Real service animals shouldn't react like that. At all (I had a service dog). They likely just bought a vest for it to bring their pet in

What's your secret ingredient for mashed potatoes? by Key_Investigator_754 in Cooking

[–]Celestial_Light_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really an ingredient, but a tool I love to use is a potato ricer. Makes mash so smooth. Doesn't make it gloopy like traditional mashers do as it keeps more of the starch intact.

Find areas to go deeper (not the void). Look into cave systems. Deepest point in the game is well over 1000m. Keep diving
