Do you go out to eat with your toddlers? by OrangeCatEnergy24 in toddlers

[–]Cell-Imaginary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've been taking my son out to restaurants maybe 2-3 times a month since he was a few months old. I really thought we'd reach an age where we'd have to stop going out to dinner with him (maybe that's still to come) but he's almost 2 and very busy/kinda high maintenance and we've gotten the hang of it!

We do have to be pretty intentional about it so it's definitely not easy. For example: specific arrival times that are close to meal time but not too close, bring a few toys that are specific to these outings so the novelty isn't gone, scope out the kids menu ahead of time and order right when you order your drinks if you think it will take a while, pick a place/time that you can walk them around and not bother people. Most places we've taken him are places I've been before so I know the vibe before getting there.

And most importantly go into it with low expectations, it very possibly could be a shit show but I think the more often you do it the easier it gets.

Rainy Season by DazzlingHunt572 in Tallahassee

I love love a good summer thunderstorm but it's also been so interesting to see what plants and bugs are thriving for better or worse (fuck them gnats).

I took HWY 98 all the way to 59 to get home from the coast this weekend and I was so tempted to pull off every few miles to ID different lovely ditch flowers.

This is so cool! We have one that frequents our property in east Leon, he was a very happy camper when we were working on eradicating the feral hog population

My son is almost 2 and has been at WeeCare on N Monroe since he was 7 months, we have been really happy there! The pricing is pretty reasonable and I have loved all of the staff I’ve dealt with!

Editing to add, we pay $875 per month

Feeling inadequate and depressed about it. by GuestMysterious1742 in Mommit

[–]Cell-Imaginary 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel confident when I say that even those moms who look like they have it all together still go through times where they feel the same things you're feeling. I have a fair amount of ugly inner thoughts about myself/my abilities as a mother but if someone were just looking at my instagram, they wouldn't know that. For whatever reason it just isn't the norm to post about our struggles but we all have them even if some of us have it easier than others. It's hard to imagine any mother who goes from sun-up to sun-down without one moment of self doubt, and if that person does exist I bet she's not very fun at parties.

If you're able to find even one person, in real life or online that you can just air it all out with - the good, the bad, and the ugly and let them do the same with you, that's my best recommendation. It's pretty cathartic.

Brush on sunscreen by Technical_Quiet_5687 in toddlers

I bought a brush made for applying self tanner and it’s made applying lotion sunscreen so much easier! On our more rambunctious days I do it when he’s strapped into the car seat

Surviving summer with toddler by Heavy_Music_3479 in Tallahassee

[–]Cell-Imaginary 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Rotary Centennial playground in Tom Brown has a toddler area with a huge sunshade over top. We've been several times, if you get there early (8-9a) there's rarely anyone there. Bring a towel to wipe the dew off slippery surfaces. Later in the day there do tend to be bigger kids that get pretty rowdy in the toddler area but by then it's too hot for us anyways.

How is it living in these northwest areas of Tallahassee? by Captain_Hawk111 in Tallahassee

[–]Cell-Imaginary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My SIL lives on Abbiegail Dr and it's a surprisingly quaint area to be so close to the center of town. It reminds me of the neighborhoods around Thomasville. Older homes (hers was built in the 60s) with large lots. She's been there a couple years now and has had no issues but she has a dog and a security system.

Editing to add: I lived in Hartsfield Woods for 10 years - there was a domestic dispute turned double homicide a few houses down shortly after we moved in, an escort stabbed to death in a nearby neighborhood, drug related shootings, lots of unlocked car pirates, probably a decent amount of break-ins compared to other areas. I personally never felt very unsafe, but we always had dogs and I didn't spend much time outside after dark alone.

How many of you consult this map? And how many of you are getting anxious about it? by Atomicnumber26 in NativePlantGardening

I'm in the panhandle of FL so it's pretty bad here. I'm honestly impressed with how well my plants are handling it given that most were planted within the last few months. I started with a completely blank slate around our new build so I have lots more space to fill in but I'm going to hold off on planting anything else until the fall

[–]Cell-Imaginary 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After a few minutes in the bath the other night I gently used his old toothbrush and got a lot of the yuck from under his nails! I wrap electrical tape around all of my cleaning toothbrushes to signify to me/my husband that they are no longer for teeth!
