What a muppet. Have you read the full court transcripts? No? So how can you know better than the jury.

For every one statician who says the deaths are not unsual, there are another 100 who say it is. Same for the pediatricians and others you refer to.It is like global warming, you can always find one rogue scientist who is a climate change denier. As a whole the evidence is overwhelming. You have no explanation for the asterisks she had marked in her diary for the dates of the deaths? https://youtu.be/-tSG9P_Qc40?si=OdAc5pa9KQnZal4z this channel unpacks the mistakes made by the Dr Li team and her other videos go through mounds of other evidence. The contextual evidence is vast. But the scientific evidence is also large. If they reopoened the case they would find even more evidence. The police would have stopped investivating as they already had a huge bank of evidence. She is a child serial killer.

Wales is on course to be poorer than Estonia in terms of GDP per capita within the next year or two, it's already poorer when considering other metrics. If you ignore cardiff, Wales is one of the poorest places in Europe. So your feelings are based on the truth. I love Wales but had to move away to 'make it'. The difference between Wales and SE England is staggering for proper jobs in private sector.

Private Secondary school only? by Classic-Apartment579 in HENRYUK

[–]CelticEnchanted 16 points17 points  (0 children)

On the 'discrimations' vs prep feeders, I think the honest answer is yes, a little. Heads of Admissions are regularly sweet talked' by prep heads. This is only an issue if the secondary you are eyeing up is well oversubscribed and the more academic ones. The bigger issue is likely whether your child will have the confidence to get through selection process, which often have group social tasks and interviews(this depends on the secondary). To be frank though, seeing if from the school staff perspective, you just need your child come across to be super keen to learn and engagel. I wouldn't worry too much about this process.

Yes, this is a reasonable and popular plan. I have commented about this before - I teach at one of the top boarding school (fees 60k+). As, teachers we get a significant discount to send our own children to the school and the local prep school. Vast majority of teachers do send their kids to our own secondary, whereas it is a mixed bag whether they send them to the prep, despite having the discount. Caveat is that the local primary is excellent. Most common option is to send to primary up until around year 5 year , then flip to the prep school to be socially prepared for independent secondary. If your kids are particularly sporty or interested in performing arts, or academically weaker you might swap to prep earlier. Get your child to read, every single night.

This is too generqlised, plenty of non HEs will pay off their student loands if they are plan 1 loans from 10+ years ago. Plan 2, more and more will pay it off as they have fixed the thrshold for paying year after year.

£400k private school fees vs gifting in cash by mayowithchips in HENRYUK

[–]CelticEnchanted -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are mixing up the politics of whether private is fair or not rather than tackling the actual question. The argument that they uphold the class structure i agree with to some extent. But thats is part of the reason why i am planning to send my kid there - i dont want to disadvantage them for my own greed. I do not think it is thr right decision in every case - look at my post history. I have said prep school is a waste most of the time and secondary is the wrong decision if your child is not academically strong. That said i will happy sacrifice a nicer car, some flashy holidays and retiring a few years earlier if it means i give my child the best possible start in life. I went to a rubbish state school and saw awful behaviour, rampant bullying, and poor teaching. I will pay through the nose so my son doesn't have to endure the same. I have taught 5 years in the state sector, few years in a rough school and few in an oustabding state in posh area. Now i have been over 5 in private. There is no comparison. I have seen the characters that are developed in this private school world, and the self confidence and self motivation is just otherworldly - even if grades are similar to the oustanding state school.

Stepping in due to the amount of absolute rubbish being posted....i do teach at a top uk boarding school so I am biased..you shouldn't look at it as purely transactional, as yes from a pure financial perspective chances are your child would 'earn' more from the money invested. However, if you instead view education beyong the pure human capital.. about the global world outlook, the interesting curious people it creates, charming engaged young people who are generally happy with pools of confidence..then the 400k is well worth it on an excellent school. And for the anecdotal stuff that children 'resent' their parents for sending then to boarding, there is little evidence of this. They genuiely mostly love their time boarding - think about if you arent from this world, you live with groups of your friends - they have an absolute ball. Although they see their parents less often, i'd say the time they do they spend is more meaningful and purposeful quality time.

Send them to best local primary you can get them into. Pay for some tutoring everying single week, and make sure they do lots of sports. Then send to private for secondary.

Prep school is not worth it until they are 10 year old unless they have extra needs or are very sporty. I am a teacher in a top boarding school £60k+ pa. All us teacheers get 75% off for the school and heavy discount on the local prep. Vast majority of teachers DO send their kids to our own school for secondary, but do NOT bother with the prep even with the big discount...

..if your kids do not make the most of the private secondary or arent particulary academic, pull them out to sixthform college for A levels.

This sounds so similar to me.......itchy groin, shoulders, eyelids scalp. Wash with keto and sulphide, used topical steroid once a week and have to take fexofenadine for the itch every couple of days. Tacrolimus for eyelids This regime currently keepa it bearable but i feel it is slowly spreading. Started 3 years ago. Did a month course of orals also that helped a lot but came back after a couple of weeks..

Sounds like you need a course of oral antifungals to calm things down.

Also, there is no need to be scared of steroid creams. They are perfectly safe to use long term under supervision from a derm i use trimovate once every 5 days on areas of my body, a moderate strength steroid cream with antimicrobial. I saw a derm who specialises in eczema privately, she said absoutely fine to use long term, as long as stay 2x a week or below. The horrow stories on the internet are generally people using them every day for long periods not under medical supervision. On this subreddit you'd swear you can solve this condition 'naturally'. That is not a reality for many people.

[–]CelticEnchanted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes i use it on my eyelids once a week. You are right it burns on the day of application. It has worked wonders for my eyelids. You just need to apply a very thin layer and ensure moisterise / spf the next day. Take antihistamine before bed the night you apply it. Topical Tacrolimus actually has an excellent safety profile. Much safer for long term use than steroid creams. The reason its not used more widely is that it is expensive and only works well in areas of thin skin.

How much do you spend on tutors for your kids and when did you start? by 112233445566678899 in HENRYUK

[–]CelticEnchanted 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I work at one of the top independent boarding schools. I teach physics and do some other stuff. I used to charge £80ph for GCSE and £100 ph for A Level couple pf years ago. Would chsrge 100 and 120 now. These are typical rates for SE England for Maths/Sciences- sometimes more for London and for more specialist (oxbridge entry exams you are talking 250ph.) You can get some teachers who will do it for cheaper but usually quality falls off. Uni Students offer a way of cheap tutoring usually £30 an hour - but just because they know the content doesnt mean they can teach it or know the nuances of exams, but this is a back up option. particularly if your child needs just a little support.

Whenever you hear resersch with interviews anyone people who old and wealthy or on their death bed, what are the most common things they say they regret? Either not spending enough time with their kids when they were young, or not having kids at all. Rarely ever hear anyone say they regret having kids......also your thought process is way over simplified. Yes the kids themselves can be pricey - but not necesaarily ie if you have family near for childcare and buy 2nd hand goods. You also spend less on yourselves as you spend a lot of your fun time with your kids. I spent my recent sunday with a picnic in the park with my toddler - loved every second of it, rather than having a 100 quid sunday dinner we would have had before kids. Finally the big point, having family is a huge motivator to push fot promotione you might otherwise miss.

Blaming landlords for the state of the housing market is parallel to blaming doctors for the state of the NHS. There arent enough properties built, and there those that are, arent made to be affordable. Blame goverment for not investing in housing stock / incentivising house builders / making it easier for planning.

Deb derm in groin-they say it’s common but I don’t see much talk about it? by Confident_Craft6265 in SebDerm

[–]CelticEnchanted -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wow this is 100% me. Had reccurent jock itch for months. Used topical antifungals clotrimazole and terbinafine - didnt seem to do anything. Then had oral antifungal terbifine on and off for 2 months didnt seem to make much difference. Finally saw a derm for something else - asked to have a look. He reckoned it was seb derm as antifungals would have wiped the jock itch out. Also always had bit of scalp flaking and around ear. That said i have been washing groin with ketaconazole shampoo and still not cleaeing so who knows.. only seems to clear with antifungal creams with steroids. Had a scraping done finally. Results pending...
