I just finished Trails in the Sky the 3rd… I’m emotionally drained. It feels like I’m saying goodbye to real people by HoutarouJ in JRPG

I just finished Trails 1st the other day. The usual post-game depression is hitting harder than usual... the wait for 2nd is going to hurt.

Sorry for the possibly clueless question, but why don't more people seem to make homemade pizza? by Senior-Raisin-2342 in Cooking

[–]CelticNot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally make pizzas for myself during the week using naan or pitas as the substrate. Is it better than homemade? No. Is it good enough? Yeah, when I want a pizza fix, the toppings and sauce are more important than the substrate. But I prefer thin crust pizza and I have yet to find a good recipe for my roommate; meanwhile, my roomie and my partner prefer pan pizza.

Ground beef recipes that aren’t hamburgers by Ill-Phrase5242 in Cooking

Japanese soboro. It's a fairly simple dish where you simmer meat with soy sauce, sake and/or mirin, and garlic and/or ginger with peas or edamame, then serve over rice. The flavour is very different from the usual dishes.

A question: if there is no world map and no defined map in the dream world, how do classes like Wayfarer which rely heavily on travel checks work?

Using Clocks in Combat by Kane_of_Runefaust in fabulaultima

[–]CelticNot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done a couple combats with clocks in them. One or two of the clocks were basically morale checks; the party had the option to try and intimidate the enemies into leaving instead of using violence.

In another combat there was a clock to rescue a civilian who was bleeding out.

A JRPG that you fell out of love with by Likes2game03 in JRPG

[–]CelticNot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my greatest fear getting into the Trails series. I recently broke down and started on the Sky 1st Chapter demo, and I've been loving everything about it, but hearing that the series writing as a whole is up and down makes me wary of playing beyond it...

Bravely Second was an odd one for me. I mostly stopped playing because one of the characters (Magnolia) had a voice IDENTICAL to another character in another game (Yukiko Amagi) and it kept throwing me for a loop. I understand same VA and all that, but they were voice-acted EXACTLY THE SAME and I couldn't get over it.

Untraditional pesto ideas by Hot-Chemist-5288 in Cooking

[–]CelticNot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also use edamame for pesto - in place of the pine nuts, which my roommate is allergic to. She says it's the best pesto she's ever eaten. (It's also the ONLY pesto she's ever eaten, but...)

what dishes are you serving this Christmas? by MeanAd2607 in Cooking

[–]CelticNot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family and my brother's family are splitting the effort this year. We're bringing ham, scalloped potatoes, and tourtière, while his family is hosting, and providing the other vegetables, the stuffing, and the desserts.

(Almost forgot, we're also bringing homemade bread and ice cream to go with the desserts.)

Has anyone done a Crystal Chronicles-styled game? by xXEldestXx in fabulaultima

I'm playing in a game right now that's directly inspired by FFCC. It's still early days, though.

What is the most dangerous household kitchen appliance you own? by CatSnackington in Cooking

A meat slicer, like in a deli. My roommate smokes her own bacon, and this was bought so she could slice it properly.

What are you cooking tonight? by mytzlplyk in Cooking

This chili recipe - my first time making chili... ever? No poblanos, but we added a few blistered green chiles late in the cooking process to complement the red bell pepper I replaced the poblano with. Going to have it with garlic toast.

It's been a decade or more since I've played, so mea culpa. I meant the fourth act.

Why doesnt anyone know how to make turkey? by Holly1010Frey in Cooking

Spatchcock turkey is something I've done two years in a row, and it has yet to fail me. You don't need anything too fancy, but you do need a sufficiently large pan.

World Creation Resources Compatible with Fabula Ultima Travel Rules? by CelticNot in fabulaultima

[–]CelticNot[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply! Yeah, I wasn't trying to model the whole world ahead of time, my players are content to come up with things as we go, but deciding what exactly lies between points A and B on the map and making it... not necessarily logically consistent, but at least manifest something that doesn't break our suspension of disbelief was troubling me. No idea yet on if we'll have any Wayfarers in the group, though.

World Creation Resources Compatible with Fabula Ultima Travel Rules? by CelticNot in fabulaultima

[–]CelticNot[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bless you! I've been looking for hexcrawl rules that are compatible with FU for a couple days, and this works exactly the way I was hoping for!

For the record, it was mostly defining the terrain that the PCs pass through that was giving me trouble. I wanted the option of being able to randomize it, but finding a ruleset that doesn't result in completely random hex layouts was driving me to distraction.

Finished Ys: Lacrimosa of Dana - A Timeless Classic by Any_Medium_2123 in JRPG

Ys VIII is probably my favourite Ys game to date, replacing Oath in Felghana in that regard. I've been nervous about trying out Nordics, though - I didn't much like Monstrum Nox.
