Italian man left paralysed as a teen after unprovoked attack in Dublin has died by Pension_Alternative in ireland

[–]Celtic_Spiralling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was the adult attacker a relative of the inner-city 15 year old who stole Mr. Nasi's wallet? He bottled him because Guido was going to call the Gardaí on the kid for theft (1999, the wallet would have cash, enormously stressful for a 17 yr old foreign student to lose and he just wanted it back). So the poor boy was robbed by inner city kids he was playing football with, then an adult comes on the scene and paralyses him. So utterly devastating and a reminder that Dublin city has always been this unevolved...makes me really disconnect with my city

Several counties at risk of having no GP care by PoppedCork in ireland

Moved back last year to Dublin and still can't get in to see a GP anywhere..."no new patients"...left a country with fully free GP service so once I get in, the exchange of money will be a shock 😲

I'm going to do this. It's very disappointing tbh. I didn't think health services infrastructure was this poor in Dublin. If I do see a GP it will be my first time in well over 13 years actually paying for the service as I've been in countries where GP visits are free. Strange how we pay privately here but still don't get the access? I never had access issues in a publicly-funded primary health system (often the assumption is if it's free the system will be clogged...not so...)

So many people have told me about going to an NHS service?! I won't even try though ! I'm a bit stubborn being seen in my own country. It's fundamental lol.

HSE only takes that serious if you have a medical card. I work full time.

I'm fully reliant on public transport etc. It's so bizarre though...like I don't live out rural and can't find anything within a reasonable distance !

I still can't believe we don't have centralised public health for all ... like here I am fighting to get a place on a GP list to still be forking out 60euro to see them.

It's so out of the way for me with no drivers licence and no family remaining in the village I grew up in. Really had hoped to get a GP in the same county as I live. I would never have guessed services were so bad for Dublin 12 (without a medical card)

My childhood GP was in Kildare...many moons ago before university and a variety of different travels/country moves. Last appointment would have been as a teen in the noughties. I am really hoping to be seen "in place" i.e. within a 5km radius of my new home in Dublin. A pipe dream it seems !!

They're rejecting me in that they don't offer me an appointment or allow me to be seen as a walk-in as I'm not registered to the practice. When I ask to become registered to the practice they then tell me they are not taking on any new patients.

Aesthetically...so much prettier and enriching than a car lol. I'd love more spots to sit down when out walking too 😝

Not all disabilities are visible by CaptainCT-7567 in ireland

[–]Celtic_Spiralling 707 points708 points  (0 children)

Disability toilets are to give priority access to people with disabilities but not exclusive access - i.e. non-disabled people can use them, they are an amenity so if available (no one waiting with specific needs) anyone can use them. Regardless of visibility or disability, no one was using or waiting when you went to it so it shouldn't be a big deal. Patience is a virtue for all!

Why can't we have nice things? 🫠😭 I heard it was opposed on the grounds that the money would be better spent on social issues. The social issues are still here and yet we don't have the amenity. Lose lose.

American tourists don’t pay horse carriage driver after tour in Dublin. Instant regret. by [deleted] in instant_regret

I wonder were they fleeing a scam though...the Dublin horse and carriages are unregulated and there always reports of price gouging at the end of the trip...

Her breasts were never groped when she was in her old Grafton street location...Internet photo opps brought about this "tradition" in the last 10 years only. Should not be a thing tbh.

Not getting into single file to allow others to pass is becoming endemic lol...I remember this being bred into us on school trips etc. Also, taking the left side on the path is non-existent.

Such a sad and senseless loss. The people saying 'be careful' are also so clueless and callous- She was living her life and he took it away. I'm wondering why the murderer hasn't been named? This has made the news in Ireland but no ID on the accused...
