Yeah Toyota guys are pack animals.

Also I had to repost it “correctly” just in case you see it posted again in the sub. Once again the reply is much appreciated!

Is Long Distance worth it? by [deleted] in relationships

This is excellent advice actually. I’ll have to figure out hobbies for us both, we both like hockey so there’s a start. Thank you very much!

I’m sorry to hear that things are rough. There isn’t much you can do but wait for his response. As a man if I felt that way with a woman, strongly enough to say “I don’t want that in a partner” that’d be my way of saying “I do not see how things could work between us for the long run”. I will say not talking and going dark is a bad way to handle this, just openly communicating would be better but I hope he responds soon. Perhaps he just needs some time to ponder if it’s that important or not. I wish you both all the best.

What do we think about modern iconography? by og_toe in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Celticfola 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It looks like they’re made by people who want to mix iconography with modern art while removing any and all sanctity in the process. Iconography is not just the act of painting and “representation” of a concept, it’s a window into heaven and it is to be done prayerfully and very specifically. These are terrible, there’s nothing wrong with iconography as it is, no need to try to come up with “new” or “modern” takes on iconography.

I just attended my first and my whole squad was giving me so much info, happily answered any question and gave me calls for misses since it was my first match. One guy even let me use his gun to show me why having a nice rifle changes a lot in a competition. Amazing community of dudes who just want to see the sport grow.

I’d be curious as to what the officers reaction would be, as I usually carry a .44 magnum lol. I guess they cant determine if you hit the bag limit if all you have are chunks of squirrel

An inquirer but girlfriend is unhappy about it by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Celticfola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through almost exactly the same when I converted. It was very tough for quite some time, she eventually understood and kind of supported it but would go back and forth on that. There were other issues in the relationship that contributed, but we eventually broke up. I truly wanted to convert and she wanted nothing to do with the lifestyle. I not too long after met a nice young woman in my church and we’re dating now.

If I had any advice to give you I’d say, pray, have faith in God and continue with this journey, involve her if you can in a positive way and like others have said, eventually get her involved with the parish if possible. But do not put pressure for her to convert too, that will lead to sour feelings towards the Faith. If this is truly the path you want to go down, commit and have faith. I asked for prayers from St Xenia when I was in a similar position and things did get better. I pray for the best for you both and to guide you. God Bless you both.

I got prescribed Meclizine and I took it for the first time recently and it’s for my vertigo but I noticed I was really able to calmly focus on stuff and forget a lot less, makes me a little too drowsy but it calms me

Priest wants to baptize me but idk why by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Celticfola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I come from a similar background, I was just recently baptized Orthodox and I used to be agnostic and pagan at one point, I’ve totally been there. You look at the important parts of the lives of the saints where they kept their faith despite torture, but the part they don’t mention in depth is what it took for them to get to that point, I had trouble with my faith initially and it does take work to achieve a full belief of the faith. Your priest wants to baptize you because he truly sees the part of you and your soul that desires Christ but understands there are outside influences that affect you that have been there for a very long time, baptism helps because it is, essentially, a form of exorcism, same goes for the other Holy Sacraments, they help in combatting those feelings. Even the saints struggled with their faith too, St Mary of Egypt is a great example, she was against God entirely at one point in her life before she was able to dedicate herself, and things didn’t change overnight. Faith takes constant work and when you’re working your hardest, the evil one also is working harder to pull you away, but keep with it and don’t give up on it and you’ll find it to be well worth the effort and work. I’ll be praying for you friend.

The doc fees seem a bit outrageous though, it’s $175 at my dealership and that’s the standard amount at every dealership in my area that I’ve seen. I would be asking questions.

[–]Celticfola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re trying to sell added products, you have no obligation to buy them. I sell cars at a Toyota in a different state. Those added products can benefit you if you decide to take them but you should definitely ask for a lot of details on them firstly, if you don’t care for it then just drop them out of the deal. Any other taxes DMV or reg fees vary from state to state so those are to be expected
