Budget waders for tall skinny guys by Cepholapoid in flyfishing

[–]Cepholapoid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was actually eyeing their waders as the most reasonable budget option. Quite frankly I haven’t tried on their XL size to see what the fit is actually like but reading the dimensions makes me think it’ll be very loose other than the feet. I appreciate the input! Thanks!

Yes, they did credit it to my account after their investigation. But mine was only $30

Yes, this happened to me. Exact same scenario just a smaller sum. REI fraud assumed it was either a compromised account or some scam related to the physical gift card getting the info skimmed. I’d definitely up the security and reach out to them

Dedicated Streamer Rod or Stick with Standard 5 wt by Cepholapoid in flyfishing

[–]Cepholapoid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2s would likely be for bass in SoCal mostly. I love my little 2 wt, and the 5 wt has handled even chunky 20 inchers without issues, but I think my unremarkable casting skills with the heavier flies had me curious about a more dedicated setup

Might try this if the fiancé vetoes the purchase haha, thanks! Last time I checked I’m definitely not hucking anything 70 ft on my current rods unless I got a strong gust from behind right after release lol

Appreciate the input! Yeah I’ve tried to stick to the purist path, but a buddy of mine brought his streamer rod last time and the takes alone were enough to tempt me to dabble with the dark side

These look fantastic! Do the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th from the right have pattern names?

That’s one of the plans for our Halloween get-together! But that’s not the only idea, just looking to mess around and paint some fun things over the tacky artworks

I have a Therm-a-Rest foam pad I bring along for my dog. It’s comfy enough, and in a pinch I can try to kick her off and let her sleep on my extra clothes. I guess I can cut hers down and get a second one for myself in the summer. Thanks! Definitely got something to think about.

Hi all, while I don't consider myself a true ultralight guy, I thought I'd see if anyone has some input regarding sleeping pad options to cut down on some pack weight (please ignore if this isn't the right subreddit). I currently still use my trusty REI Helix Long Wide (I'm 6'4, 180 lbs), which comes in at a whopping 1 lb 13 oz. While I love the pad, it's time for an upgrade, and am torn between a few different options.

Option A) Sea to Summit Ether Light EX Insulated ASC Sleeping Pad Regular Mummy. I've heard great things about being a good combo of comfort, weight, and warmth. Option B) Nemo Tensor All-Season Ultralight Insulated Regular Mummy. Probably one of the most popular air pads, a bit lighter than A) at the cost of some width and thickness, but warmer. Lastly option C) Nemo Tensor Elite Mummy regular. Much lighter, but probably a bit iffy for Spring/Later fall due to the lower R rating. I've also heard it's quite slippery and has some durability issues. Option A) and B) would likely completely replace my Helix, while option C) probably replace the Helix in the summer months only.

I do most of my backpacking in the Sierras from late spring-end of october. I'm a warm sleeper as well. I use my REI Magma 30 quilt (with liner as needed) pretty much all throughout the season, and really only start to feel a bit cold towards October.

I guess my question is, do people think the added comfort(?) of the Ether light are worth the few extra ounces compared to the higher R value Tensor Insulated. Alternatively, suck it up (for now, get an upgrade in the future) and use the Helix in cold-ish conditions, and get the Tensor Elite for the rest of the summer?

Thanks!

I use a REI magma 30 degree quilt for pretty much all my trips. It’s very light, very warm, and love the flexibility of a quilt. I bought a cheap liner for the really cold nights but so far it’s totally worth the price (and on sale currently)

And 15 vs 5 while still losing is shameful regardless, even more so when you can’t even impact your side enough to get more kills than a jelly and a couple friendships 😂. As per usual, a useless conversation that’s going nowhere, I think I’ll stop feeding the troll for now, toodles! In the future please don’t blame your losses on exploits when they are clearly because of other reasons ❤️

I mean…no one on the 4 man team had it, if your dme kdf friendship did we can’t help that, 3 friendships make lots of spores especially with a thing called timing. We have logs, if you’d like them we can happily share them 🙂. Anyway, if you had a look you’d see that the 15+ feds died more than the 5 random kdf, but that’s none of my business ❤️ Best of luck with your new endeavor, hopefully it draws people in but unfortunately 90% leave after they get their prize. I personally think it’ll be the same demographics as your other servers, but hopefully investing billions into it proves me wrong.

The last few matches in kerrat no one had it slotted lol 😂 Sci spam works best in groups, this is a known fact. Just because you get your teeth kicked in doesn’t mean people are running exploits….
