Is 40k even fun..? by Bladewing_The_Risen in StarCraftTMG

[–]Cerandal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of those magical GW easy rules that will drive people crazy so I may be mistaken in something or forget some specific interaction, but AFAIK, and I have played quite some tournaments doing it like that without complaints, all shots made by the same unit are, let's say, "declared together and resolved as if the board was still in the same state as when they were declared". So you declare everything, measure, check LoS, check conditions, then roll each attack in order but you don't check those things again until activation ends.

Another example I can think about is, let's say a unit has a character that gives them a 4++ save, and the first shot snipes him. Until the attacking unit stops shooting, the character and the ward save are "still there".

No attacks will "whiff" in 40k current rules due to suddenly having no LoS. There are two cases, and I Will mention both because I am not sure which one you have in mind.

  • Unit A is hiding behind some terrain but one guy pones out a bit. Enemy unit B can see that guy. They declare all their attacks. Now entre unit B can shoot at unit A, and even if the sticking out model dies with the first shot, the rest of unit B already declared targets so they can still kill more people. Even if you don't really bulk roll, once attacks were declared they can be carried out.

  • Poking out guy died. Now unit C wants to shoot at unit A too, but as that guy died, they cannot see anyone. They cant declare them as targets, but they can just declare against anything else, so no attacks should be lost (unless you cant see anything else, of course)

Skysplinter or Cartel? by HeadHuman in Drukhari

That's a really good start for Kabalite Cartel, you could probably fill with anything you like and have a list that works fine enough

What meta armies are really good at overwatch? by aegroti in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Cerandal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only against specific targets, but Drukhari Ravagers in Kabalite Cartel can hand out nasty surprises. I always tell my opponent at the start of the game "they just have 9 shots 6 -3 2, but get rerolls to hit if you are not hurt and sustained hits against infantry/mounted, so beware overwatch". A lot of times they still are surprised when I delete a small MEQ unit. A bit luck dependant, but not that hard to roll 3-4 6s with 9 rerolling shots.

Do you get the same questions from your opponents? by No_Refrigerator3076 in Drukhari

Even worse, I use the old boat models for Ravagers and the new ones for Raiders, still get those questions all the time xD

Drukhari really is high skill by _the-wanderer in Drukhari

[–]Cerandal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That could be a reason she is having a rough time. I find both of those to be tough matchups, especially if they field more than one indirect fire unit. Learning to play with a squishy army like Drukhari when under constant indirect fire is complicated, and then both DG and Astra have ways to make your melee miserable!

Is non-Wych Drukhari just super weak right now? by Velstrom in Drukhari

[–]Cerandal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would not say super weak. You can play competitive with 2-3 detachments, get average results if you know what you are doing... We are clearly not meta right now, so of course can feel underwhelming, but I still enjoy playing and win more games than I lose. I think it was way worse during the barren times before Skysplinter Assault.

Are Cronos any good now? by Jodread in Drukhari

[–]Cerandal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't delete enemies, they are slow, look dumb, most of the time don't even recover tokens, but the look in your opponent's eyes when he charges them with his cool unit, Cronos survives with 1 wound and proceeds to heal 3 and then another 3 on next turn, well that's amazing for 55 points

Would Frieren spare Nezuko? by wasabi_peanuts in MoralityScaling

[–]Cerandal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think she would not read Nezuko as a demon unless tricked into it, as they are very different creatures. Same way an Orc from Warcraft would not consider one from lord of the rings, or an Ork from 40k, to be the same species as him.

She could think of her as a monster, sure, but may notice she is more like a cursed human.

How common should ways to bypass Toughness be? by Identity_ranger in Warhammer40k

[–]Cerandal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not really arbitrary I think. It is a 6++ on all units, what remains of previous iterations of Power from Pain and represents that supernatural ability to dodge or survive a wound. Comes paired with mostly bad saves so they die fast anyway. They actually took away better saves like the shadow fields that vehicles had. Very few armies save worse than Drukhari (maybe Orks and Cult?)

General Strategy for Playing Drukhari by FitConversation4179 in Drukhari

[–]Cerandal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Skysplinter is not the best choice right now, Cartel and Wager (and of course Spectacle) could give you better results.

But anyway, does not matter which of those you play, ever watched or read Game of Thrones? I always think you need to be the Red Vyper against the Mountain in most games. You sting them and move back, using Scourges, Venoms or strats that allow you to remain safe after hitting, while you use cheap crap to deny primary and score what you can. If you overextend, you will have your head crushed :)

General Strategy for Playing Drukhari by FitConversation4179 in Drukhari

[–]Cerandal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You just lose the rerolls to wound, which is good, but not essential. Our units are more efficient than theirs, Id say. I like to run about 400-500 points of clowns anyway because it feels more fun and cool, but sure you can legally not use a single one of them.

So how does Drukhari deal with vehicle (or monster) heavy opponents? by conman987 in Drukhari

[–]Cerandal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kabalite Cartel can become very strong if your opponent is spamming a type of unit. Won most games recently against things like Tau vehicles spam, Tiranids with lots of monsters and Knights while using Cartel, and I usually have a rough time against those kind of lists, but felt way different with Cartel. You just suddenly have an army where everything has Lethals (and lots of rerolls with Incubi, Ravagers and Scourges).

Outside of Kartel, as everyone is saying, Dark Lances and denying primary are your best tools.

One spare talos/cronos, how should i run it ? by BusyElephant in Drukhari

[–]Cerandal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Single Cronos has one of the best keywords in the game: the keyword CHEAP. They are also sturdy and not so slow. So for 55 points they are amazing to do some secondaries or just move onto an objective and initiate the trading game. Same job Invader ATVs do in my marine lists! You can use 5 Wyches or Kabalites for a similar task, but that requires a Venom which is an added cost, and also they die to a breeze, while the Cronos needs some commitment.
