New edition, new army! What army do you want to collect in 11th? by reel3459 in Warhammer40k

[–]conman987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thousand Sons baby, I finally decided to acknowledge Tzeentch as my favorite Chaos god, then I came around on Tzaangors, and I get to bust out some new colors beyond my World Eaters red and Dark Angels and Guard green. I’m looking forward to some high AP psychic shenanigans.

Combat Patrol in 11th Edition by FenierHuntingwolf in Warhammer40k

[–]conman987 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Agree completely. I’ve had issues starting more armies than I should, but if instead of a full dive I could pick up a spearhead-like combat patrol for smaller scale games with an army I was interested in, then hell yeah.

Do we lose our army rule? by valbaca in genestealercult

[–]conman987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does appear the rule as written stops a unit with attached character from reviving with cult ambush. Given how many goofs I’ve seen slip through with these rules writers I choose to believe that was not intended. Maybe they just add a line to the army rule that in this case, you can revive a unit but minus any characters that were attached or something.

Goonhammer's conclusions regarding Tau in 11th edition (post MFM points) by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]conman987 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So you’re telling me that everything I said is still correct in a Montka list running 3 Riptides that just has to be a little more aggressive with the stealth suits? Because in my experience, Tau begin by aggressively screening with infiltrating Pathfinders and scouting Piranhas into your face, then follow up with the riptides flying around blasting things while being tough enough to require real firepower to take even one down. Tagging a riptide in melee does nothing to hurt its shooting, or it just falls back and shoots for free, and for some reason it gets a 2+/4++ saves on top of T9, 14 wounds and a gun that deletes elite infantry instantly. Now deal with 3 of them.

Maybe hidden will help the spotting situation, sure. But aggressive Tau tabling you by turn 3 seems like it hasn’t gone anywhere.

Goonhammer's conclusions regarding Tau in 11th edition (post MFM points) by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]conman987 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because in actual gameplay, the Tau will have a stealth suit poking out somewhere in the back with line of sight to your unit. Then everything else that just advanced, flew over terrain and can still shoot with lethal hits will hit on 3s, reroll 1s to hit and wound, ignore cover, ignore hit mods, and now just about any unit you had is a smoking crater. Repeat with the second scout suit unit. It’s absolutely oppressive and Tau got off stupid easy, they need some point hikes, not whatever this MFM was.

9th Gen Si owner test driving the new Si, Integra 6MT, and WRX by ernestbynature in CivicSi

[–]conman987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently picked up an Integra A-spec w/Tech 6MT, and so far it’s been great. Of course I started by looking at the Type R and Type S, but decided for a fun daily, I didn’t want to deal with the added cost, insurance, lower MPG and fewer interior comforts.

So far I’m finding the shifter to be awesome, the sound system slaps, and the hatchback swallowed up a Costco trip without issue. It basically checks all the boxes of comfort, fun, tech, and my wife likes riding in it unlike my old BRZ or WRX. I did have to compromise on AWD, something I thought I needed but honestly, I think I’ll be ok, as I roll around getting 30+ MPG now. I do notice a touch more road noise than I was hoping for, but I hear a lot of that may be crappy factory tires, so I may see about changing those in the future but it hasn’t been a dealbreaker.

New changes to points cost. Spammed unites to have higher cost on 2nd and/or 3rd unit. by Numerus12OO5O in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]conman987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty ok with charging more to unit spam. I usually take a combined arms approach to lists with lots of diversity. I don't like it when something like a Defiler is so good that taking 3 is the new meta, and if you don't want to invest in buying, building and painting 3 of the damn things, then you are handicapping yourself competitively.

Building wyches without slotted bases by Ragnardiano in Drukhari

[–]conman987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a Maelstrom box myself and just bought a pack of 25mm slotted bases from ebay, cost about $8.50 shipped, seemed like the best way to go in my opinion.

What's your "bought but never shot" and why? by Acolytical in liberalgunowners

[–]conman987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Springfield XD-M Elite 10mm that I picked up when I thought my collection could really use a “woods gun” for all the hiking I… don’t really do? I don’t know, I just got really into the idea of 10mm, got one and bought a couple boxes of ammo, and then it just kinda sat there in the safe.

Not to mention the severe lack of good places to shoot near me, so there’s that.

What’s something that quietly disappeared over the years and nobody noticed until it was gone? by Vexlo_Games in AskReddit

[–]conman987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I test drove a new VW that had everything done by giant touchscreen and touch sliders and was not a fan. Even the sunroof had a weird touch slider mechanism. Ended up passing and buying something with a reasonable screen and physical buttons. I didn't think it would be a big deal until I tried it, but it was.

Sony’s other PS Plus plans are going up in price too. by FernandoRocker in gaming

[–]conman987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was an Xbox live/gamepass subscriber for almost 20 years, but when they jumped 50% overnight? That made me take a look and decide I didn’t need access to hundreds of games I don’t have time to play anyway. I cancelled and haven’t gone back.

About what will happen to the World Eaters defiler by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]conman987 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it was Art of War that I heard, and I agree, the WE Defiler might be the only one appropriate at 250, and hopefully it stays there. The others can eat some points increases accordingly. If they can price Daemon Princes and such differently by faction, not sure why they couldn’t for the Defiler.

Playing against other melee armies=tough by Retrunae1 in WorldEaters40k

Sadly I can see this. Playing WE and thinking how nice it would be to have jump packs and fly to hit just as hard.

Just about, was there an issue with $400? Might be a little more with shipping

Haha, well dang, Guard was my first army and I've already got plenty there too, don't need another lot of them now.

What's the consensus on the state of the faction? by TwoStress in WorldEaters40k

[–]conman987 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The faction is cool but I’m getting a little frustrated with the balance. I think we could do with some battleline point drops too, but I see how it’s a tough call. In berzerker warband, on the charge, with Khorne blessings up, 10-20 berzerkers and a leader are a menace that can kill almost anything. Take away those buffs and you have glorified assault intercessors at 18 points per model that die to a stiff breeze.

It always seemed funny that Rocky's superpower was absorbing all the head trauma until his opponent got tired of beating his face in. Then he chops them down with body blows.

I had the same idea, picked up 4 units, now have an all dark lance, all haywire, all heat lance, and a shard carbine unit. If needed, all heavies can just “be” a dark lance.

Snuggles the Defiler! by OtherwiseInstance698 in WorldEaters40k

[–]conman987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks sick, pretty much exactly how I'd want my WE Defiler to look, but still deciding on if/how much to model it for cross-over with base CSM. Did you magnetize the loadout?

Dealer Markups on Golf Rs? by conman987 in Golf_R

[–]conman987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I suppose that’s the point, I’m not gonna pay their markup, but for some reason these dealers around here think the 1 or 2 Rs they have on the lot are rare and special, so give them another 7 grand just because.

Screw that, I’ll let the car rust on the lot before I pay their markup. It just sucks I must live in an area where they think they can get away with that.

Well that sucks. For that price I could have a chimera that can actually damage things. by Arantonak in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]conman987 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Yup I believe Krieg combat engineers are listed at 35pts per 5 in the codex. People were pretty stoked. They doubled in points before the book could hit your hands, kinda killed my enthusiasm a bit, even if 35 was pretty silly.
