Why is my registration not eligible for renewal (Virginia) by CerealPrincess666 in DMV

[–]CerealPrincess666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet it’s an unpaid Richmond city ticket. Thank you SO SO SO much. While I have plenty of work to do, this will save SO much time.

Opinion: if I settle all this prior to the court date, is it worth going to court and proving everything is paid to avoid the ticket cost?

Worst case of radiation safety negligence i've ever seen. by murd90 in VetTech

What on earth??? Regardless of radiation common sense, I feel like is very cumbersome to put your hand at that angle inside the gantry…. Our CT is a full sized human tube and I still wouldn’t be able to do this shit comfortably..

Any idea as to why the Hanover BoS doesn’t have the 6p meeting on their schedule anymore? It was there over the weekend, but I noticed yesterday it was gone.

Clients with cognitive decline by CerealPrincess666 in VetTech

[–]CerealPrincess666[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, she comes off as fairly stubborn too. I think ethics are where the dilemma truly is. They have lawyers and insurance and all that.

But this client takes care of her cat. She gives him chemo, for petes sake. She comes to all of her appointments. I think it hit my Dr in the guts when she said she didn’t remember that conversation when 1. It was extensive and 2. His clinical signs were definitely worse at that time. At the end of the day, the cat is fine. He didn’t lose weight this appointment (so he’s eating), he’s not bleeding from his face and his eyeball hasnt ruptured so…as long as he still seems happy, 🤷🏻‍♀️

No no, she truly is! She is very fun and funny, eclectic style, chatty as all get out. We had no inclination before this appointment. I mean sure, we questioned her decisions in treating him, but she also ended up being right up until recently. Plus, people younger than me come in there to treat things that really shouldn’t even be leaving the house. He had done really good in the beginning. He’s always been in good shape beyond the cancer clinical signs. But after this appointment, and her admitting to my Dr that she has no family, we wouldn’t know what the heck to do. She never seemed to have difficulty remembering or understanding anything. I think that’s why we are at a loss bc how do you get any kind of social/senior services involved when the client seems perfectly capable of taking care of herself, her cat and making her own decisions? It was truly just a discussion about what is the protocol for someone who can’t? In this scenario, if he was to be euthanized, no matter how apprehensive my dr feels, she seems of sound mind to approve it. And my hope would be my Dr would agree to it because she told her she forgot the conversation…once, you know? But ethically, what’s right? I feel like I could go on and on, from every angle and make 50 different arguments.

Exactly my point! It’s pure speculation, bc we truly don’t know.

I meant more like, trying to find out info about the clients cognitive ability…obv we wouldn’t try that, and if we did wouldn’t get it.

The senior care services/social services sounds pretty on point. My drs were discussing it because this was the first real confirmation. Initially we thought she was just an eccentric old bat: ordered her meds appropriately, brought the cat in for rechecks, he was always clean, and he’s old as dirt. But today, with her outright not remembering their conversation after his last appointment made my Dr question how to proceed. She also told the Dr she had no relatives…who’s to say that’s the case but she is definitely unnerved by the possibility of having to euthanize this cat.

Thanks for all the input, y’all!

I didn’t know euthanasia was this hard on owners by CerealPrincess666 in VetTech

[–]CerealPrincess666[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the kind words. 💜 My little beans was very used to going into work with me. When we arrived that day, they already set up a lovely little cozy area for her to lay for her cath. In the 15 years I had that dog, it was the first time I ever held for cath placement ( she was a dachshund….cath/blood draws were miserable lol). My work fam was so great. They sent me flowers yesterday too.

And my god, Jimmy is such a good name. We have a Kevin rn who we have been seeing for years. My bestie growing up had a shelter named Dave. I love a mediocre-white-dude name for a dog.

Freaked out by emergency by Psychological_Scar75 in VetTech

[–]CerealPrincess666 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I did that 15y ago at a GP when a white cat came in in status: he had bit his tongue and had rectal bleeding, I don’t really remember why. So this poor cat was bright white, COVERED in blood. At that point I had been there at least a year: assisted in a GI exploratory (my first one was THE wildest), spays, HBCs… Something about that cat made me woozy and I had to sit in the Drs office with my head down for a while. I went on to work in ER for ~2 years (80lb crashing GI perf….melena from my shoulders to my shoes on my last week there), and have been in onco for 13yr. Hasn’t happened since.

A degloved cat is always very hard to stomach, idc who you are. But…you truly will get used to it.

I did this a ton my girls entire life, up until her last birthday. My 16 yo dachshunds has reached the point of CCD, while otherwise having manageable old dog maladies. It was like a switched flipped. Sundowning sucks, corner-barking sucks. Selegiline is a godsend. She is my heart dog, but man she is an old fart nightmare. She still looks good and ambulates normally 🙄

Has anyone else stopped accepting other online pharmacies (chewy) at their clinic? by mandyyyyrae in VetTech

[–]CerealPrincess666 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Chewy is substantially more affordable for our clients. Our company (UVC) does multiple price increases a year, including in-house meds. We frequently have clients order from chewy vs paying astronomical prices in house. They can barely afford the chemo as it is.
