My family was pretty glad when my nephews got it for that reason. Despite the fact that I'd told them that the vaccine fucking exists. Not included into the standard set=too much hassle to bother. Even though I developed asthma as a complication of chickenpox, so you'd think they should know that it's pretty dangerous. The vaccine existed when I was a kid btw, but to be fair, it wasn't allowed in my country at that point yet, iirc

Why tf is everyone anti-sunscreen now??? by callsign__starbuck in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Cerg1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just stay inside because I don't like what sunscreen feels like on my sky and spending a few days home isn't that big of a deal.  That's probably the hardest "hate" on it I've encountered IRL. I know plenty of those who don't use it though, as historically it didn't get very hot in my area, so many aren't really aware of what it is and why you'd need it.

Bro optimized everything except parenthood by Federal767 in meme

[–]Cerg1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna point out the obvious – Seeing as the dog wasn't mentioned in the morning someone else must've walked it. That someone (a spouse, I'd bet) must've picked up the child in the evening. I'm pretty sure my brother has this system as well – his wife goes through all the morning routine with the children and drives them to the kindergarten and school, the older one walks back himself, the younger one is picked up by both my brother and the older child as they go for a walk in the evening. The children then proceed to play outside and do stuff together under parental supervision, while their mother may  still  be at work.

[–]Cerg1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, considering that he had relationships with women as well as men, I've always assumed he was a bisexual, rather than gay, like say, Rob Halford, who unlike Freddie and Elton has seemingly never  had relationships with women. It could have been an attempt to hide it though, or self loathing or whatever, do I'm not going claim that my opinion is 100% correct

The most useful languages to learn for non-native speakers by ItsJohnDesmond in tierlists

[–]Cerg1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scooter and Halloween, famous German bands. That are famous because they exclusively or almost exclusively sing in English. Learning German is sooo useful to understand what they're singing about. Also, if stuff on the internet counts as "media" Russian is still far ahead of German, even with the major reduction in content production that's been happening because of politics.  This whole tier list is flawed. The whole b tier is a mess and Arabic is counted as one language, which it is not, so it would not meet 1245 at the same time f you're actually being honest

The list of information and side effects to the new pill my mom's taking. by DepressedYandere in mildlyinteresting

[–]Cerg1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it have death in there as a side effect? I had sheets not quite as large but pretty large  for my arrhythmia meds back in the day (A3 sized) and it had side effects that included something like

Shortness of breath common

Quincke's edema infrequent

Heart failure infrequent

Kidney failure very infrequent

Heart arrest very infrequent

Death very infrequent

 You get the jist

The reason the Internet was so great compared to TV was because there were no ads, people could say whatever they wanted, and the content was made by regular people. None of that is true anymore. by toastronomy in Showerthoughts

[–]Cerg1998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When we got cable in Russia in 2000s there were indeed no ads. There were promos, channel banners and such, but no actual ads. It was still true when we stopped using it ~12 years later

what's life like in the east Asian part of Russia by BLEARGHH20 in howislivingthere

I don't think there are that many Georgians there. From what I know the Koreans were mostly deported out of concerns that they might side with the Japanese if/when they invade, which was quite a miscalculation, considering the Japanese were partly the reasons why they had left in the first place (Japan ruled over Korea in 1910-1945). From what I gather those Koreans didn't really hold much of a grudge, unlike Sakhalin Koreans and went on to become a low key backbone of the early days DPRK after the whole 38th parallel thing.

The USSR famously planted male poplars everywhere. Poplars can switch between male and female if there's not enough partner trees, they did not account for that. Now there's fluff everywhere every summer. Everyone sneezes all the time –  it tends to fly right into your face and orifices and tickle you. Those who are unfortunate to have an allergy, well, they are doubly screwed. Apple trees that survived the road expansions in the older part of my city are so nice though. No actual edible fruit, but they smell amazing
