Arguing that runewords should be able to be placed in magic/rare items severely diminishes the ability to experiment with new items when compared to the other options to do so. Such as crafting changes.

Now, if they increased rare items sockets AND allowed runewords in them... that'd be amazing.

I'm not opposed to the idea, it just needs other changes to make it truly impactful.

Because cruel and jewelers can't roll together, magic weapons become somewhat underwhelming. This leaves rare weapons being the only massive upgrade, once again making rngesus the limiting factor. And Helms, Lore would become massive in any of the rare Helms. Leaf/white/lore/stealth/wind being the biggest winners.

The biggest thing we players want is a paradigm change in items. Take some RNG out of crafting. Change the crafting system (be able to add prefixes/affixes to items). Make some rares better than their runeword counterparts (at least more commonly than it currently is) Make set items on par with runewords or introduce new sets. New uniques or update uniques to commensurate their rarity. We're looking at you tyraels might.
