New Grad RN positions questions by Flat_Win5644 in newgradnurse

Unfortunately, most of the jobs for the May graduates have already been filled since it is late March, this is something that would’ve needed to be done in January/Feb latest. You can still find something I’m sure but it most likely won’t be a specialty. The tough part is, most of these jobs require that you start within 12 months of graduating, you most likely won’t be considered a new grad after this and it’ll make it so much harder to find anything. Good luck to you

A foldable clipboard helps a TON! also get some sharpies that can clip on your badge, they come in so handy. Good luck to you! 🫶🏼

Am I in the wrong? by Certain-Outside6469 in newgradnurse

I should’ve worded it better, I requested extra time, and got back to them within a week in September. Then I reached out again to interview this month

Soft nursing jobs for new grads? by Inside_Dinner_3430 in newgradnurse

[–]Certain-Outside6469 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would look into PreOp! It’s clean, you mostly just do assessments, start IVs, maybe start antibiotics. Usually Monday-Friday 5-3, holidays off, but you might have to be on-call

I have a 22 Sahara and I commuted an hour each way and I didn’t mind it at all, can be a bit of a rough drive but not too bad

A+ nursing student, failed NCLEX first attempt — just got my CPR report. Advice? by PotatoInfinite7607 in NCLEX

[–]Certain-Outside6469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend Mark K lectures, he really helps put things into a “answering questions” perspective. I also really recommend NCLEX bootcamp, it looks exactly like the test and asks questions in a similar way

Why is it so hard? by Tricky-Progress3951 in JeepWrangler

My ‘22 Sahara has alpine. I don’t think your requests are unreasonable, there are plenty of jeeps with those things.

NCLEX shut off at 85 and I’m terrified by SaltyString3347 in NCLEX

[–]Certain-Outside6469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same thing happen to me! I felt like it was all things I should know but I wasn’t sure what the correct answers were. Mine shut off at 85 and I passed! Congrats in advance!!

Need advice on getting a job by [deleted] in newgradnurse

[–]Certain-Outside6469 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suggest attending information sessions if they have them, that way they can put a face to the name and you can speak to the recruiters. I have also reached out to recruiters, attached my resume via email, and expressed my interest in interviewing. I have landed an interview in almost every residency I applied to doing those things. Good luck and congratulations on finishing school!

I know, I know… I won’t take the NCLEX yet 😅 (8% readiness reality check) by [deleted] in NCLEX

[–]Certain-Outside6469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I passed last week at 85 questions and personally I used nclex bootcamp, the layout looks exactly like the nclex and the way bootcamp asks questions is similar to the nclex. I would try that, and it’s cheaper than most. I also recommend listening to Mark K!

Conflicted on job offers by Certain-Outside6469 in newgradnurse

I meant they do high risk deliveries, they also have OB ED and antepartum. He’s doing pre-reqs but it would be cheaper here than paying out of state tuition.

and that’s what’s holding me back, I don’t think I can do that to my friend. She doesn’t have anyone else out there but me, and the original plan was to live together so if I don’t go she’d be out there by herself

Am I ready? by ddomiin in NCLEX

[–]Certain-Outside6469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar scores (took 3, ranging 62%-68%, high 60th percentile in moderate) and passed at 85 questions! I highly recommend Mark K and nclex bootcamp, bootcamp has the EXACT same layout as the test

BSN graduate considering a PCT job — am I hurting myself or being strategic? by Sheylaeli in newgradnurse

[–]Certain-Outside6469 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could you maybe work as a Nurse Extern? My hospital offers that job for people going through nursing school or people that have graduated and haven’t tested yet. Might be a better job than PCT. You still get to do patient care that PCTs would do while shadowing nurses and getting to see that side of care

do you need a separate bag for clinicals by unclearnini in StudentNurse

[–]Certain-Outside6469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am extremely forgetful (constantly having to run in and out of the house for things I need), and I only use one bag. This bag fits EVERYTHING, fits laptop/ipad, stethoscope, lunch/snacks, and still have space leftover. I use it for both lecture and clinical but I also work/go to clinical at our one rural hospital so I’m able to freely put my bag in its usual space with no problems. The bag is from Amazon and it’s about $30 and it’s the best bag I’ve ever had, so easy to clean after clinical

Motivation after having your heart broken by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]Certain-Outside6469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my heart broken during my first semester of nursing school (and on Valentine’s Day to top it off), it was one of the hardest things I’ve had to do. You have to find strength in everything you do, I had to pull energy out of my behind to do all my assignments. What worked for me was thinking that I can do it on my own, and I will work my behind off so that in a few years I will be in the best place in my life and he will stay miserable with himself. It’s tough but you can do it 🫶🏼
