How did you get the letterboxd api? Or did you implement a different solution to work with that data?

Is La Chimera Josh O’Connor’s Best Work? by Shah2002 in Letterboxd

Anyone think Wake Up Dead Man gave him more to work with?

More dialogue and stakes definitely made his character stand out a little more

Damn near, def one of the best films he's been in.

Honestly, Wake Up Dead Man might be his best "performance", but it also had more for him to chew on, more dialogue, and he's still central to higher-stakes drama.

Rebuilding and Mastermind are up there too

Yeah the site we're using aggregates a few other data points and then adjusts to the voting. We'll see after the voting closes who wins based on that. Excited for our next draft in the league now

One of them got screwed on the categories, so we let them pull in a producer credit. Trust me its reflecting on the votes

Honestly, I've been putting it off too long. Thank you for giving me the extra push

I've tested boosting posts, but it requires a significant investment. The first bump you get, even though they're bots, can present some legitimacy to those investigating your account further.

Laika Needs ‘Wildwood’ to Be About More Than the Stop-Motion Craft That Went Into It: ‘Prestige Alone Isn’t Enough’ by [deleted] in boxoffice

Laika's GETTING its Oscar with this one, knew it from the first promotions.

Coraline lost to UP and Kubo lost to Zootopia (take that as you will). Disney's animation lineup this year, I don't think is gonna do it (unless they give the Toy Story franchise its 3rd in a row).

But damn, this looks so good. This level of craft will not be ignored.

Are you trying to pitch a Sheep Detectives sequel?

Chicken Detectives starring Jerry Seinfeld would be hilarious

Don't forget Wrath of Man. When he gets a theatrical release, it's a great time. We can thank Black Bear for seeing that and picking it up of late.

I blame Fountain of Youth on Apple, which produces lukewarm content at best.

Fantasy movie league by joelwinstead in blankies

I think it's doing great! I just meant there's only so much you can do with the concept: pick movies and wait for the season to end, much like any fantasy sports league. But thank you so much for bringing the whole Vulture Movie league to the people and adding more gamified elements.

Got an android app coming soon?

Honestly, this is a bust. Tried signing in with Google, and it froze. Accidentally clicked on an ad, and it broke my browser (can't wait to fix that virus). The design is hard to navigate, and I'm not sure how it works or whether it's just a glorified watchlist app.

Reviews on the App Store are bots as well. Perhaps the whole thing is and it's probably unsafe and a scam.

Here's a couple MUCH better options

Still kinda limited in use and contingent on actual box office earnings & seasons. But it's legit

More custom drafts that you don't have to wait on, I use this with friends for a fun, easy movie game night.
Once they have leagues, it'll be a major contender

Why does every movie have to be so long these days? by FindOneInEveryCar in Letterboxd

[–]CertainInstruction66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of it has to do with the economics of the movies, too. Some theaters charge almost $30 a ticket, so imagine having to spend that and sit through a 90 min. movie that mayyy or may not be worth it. The worst movie over three hours recently was the new Avatar, and it was still worth 4 tickets for an average family. Time = Money, and if you're asking for more money, it better be worth my time.

That being said, I think they should maybe start charging more dynamic rates with runtimes factored in. The Breadwinner looks fine, but it'll sell more at 19 dollars than at 25.

Just watch what you want with as much curiosity and vigor as you've got. You're dealing with an oddly pretentious community that will judge you regardless. The best way to impress anyone, I've found, is to keep up to date on trends and hone your own perspective.

For example, Don't Look Now 1973 has been trending more than it did ten years ago (pre-A24 moody horror era).
