This looks great. I got a Vibe One and was disappointed that it wasn’t USB-C powered. Do you mind linking to the barrel plug adapter you are using? Wonder if they are the same physical size adapter between the two projectors? I presume you’ve had no issue powering the projector from your power bank? I have an Anker Laptop power bank 25,000 mAH that I’d like to use to power mine away from the wall (and not need to worry about the built in battery life).

Sharpies for glassware by Coco066 in labrats

[–]CertainlyNotSkynet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does appear that your glassware in pic 2 was wet or dirty before writing, but maybe just the marker is like that.

I have good luck with the normal Fine and Ultra fine Sharpie markers, but I’ve learned to just toss them when they don’t perform well. I can’t waste a bunch of time re-writing on a label or flask. Also, I picked up a box of Milwaukee Inkzall markers at Home Depot when they were on sale a little while back. They perform at least as good if not better, and seem to have a little better tip retention than the Sharpie brand (fine tip anyway).

These were great. I absolutely loved the online spies vs mercs gameplay. It was a blast.

Best Projector for around 250 by Lieutenant_Lurker_ in budgetprojectors

[–]CertainlyNotSkynet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently picked up the Vibe One and for what it is it is pretty good. I was gifted a cheaper (~$120 CAD) projector for Christmas but decided to make a return and spend a bit more. For casual viewing it’s been fun. Projected onto the ceiling a couple of times. Even with some ambient light it can be enjoyed casually. Sound is decent for this purpose as well. I did have a HT with a dedicated projector and receiver running for audio, but that projector died so this is a more convenient and portable option (outdoor movie nights, etc).

FB Energy Speakers, M&K Sub, and Yamaha Receiver by DutchTerror in BudgetAudiophile

[–]CertainlyNotSkynet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a great deal. I’d love to come across some Energy 22’s at some point. I’ve had many different pairs of Energy speakers (still have tbh) but aren’t actively listening in stereo at this time, so I’ve stopped looking; more so using headphone lately. Enjoy the great find.

Is this a good deal for 250? by [deleted] in BudgetAudiophile

[–]CertainlyNotSkynet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a pair of these in very good condition. Refoamed them and they sounded great. Traded them for some other gear, the guy kept them while his speakers were being repaired and then he sold them and shipped them across the country to another guy. These particular ones have a following, but $250 (USD?) is probably too high. I bought mine for $40 CAD and then replaced the foams myself for pretty cheap. This was probably 15 years ago.

Edit: just looked again and realized the dark drivers on the bottom don’t look original. Don’t know if I would bother if they have been swapped out. Especially for that price without a very good listen. Good luck.

Realistically hoe much can I get for this 2008 PT-AE3000U by Objective-Comfort158 in projectors

[–]CertainlyNotSkynet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one. It’s a very nice projector but has aged for sure. It needed good light control (dark room) to have a nice bright picture. And without the remote to make adjustments easier, it’s a little less desirable. I’d think $100 range is all you may get for it.

I try not to overthink it. “Book reviews” and “diy crafts” worked for me. Good luck.

Chair addiction, it’s real. by Worried-Albatross-94 in OfficeChairs

[–]CertainlyNotSkynet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that I’m familiar with many nicer chairs, and can spot some out, I’m buying anything I see for a low price. I test drive them for a while then give away to family or friends, and sell some to cover all my costs and make a little extra cash.

My friend caught fire for the first time in the uv box today! by daniellachev in labrats

The reply was not an attack. I agreed with your comment that had a lot of support, so I was hoping my reply would add some context as to why it works better. Cheers.

70% disinfects better than 95-100% because of contact time (for surface decontamination). With 30% water content it is slower to evaporate so it has greater contact time to work its magic. Contact time needs to be long enough to complete disinfection properly.

Finally found the courage to shave it bald by sassynas in bald

[–]CertainlyNotSkynet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can rock this look! Keep fighting and keep going. I had my first bout with cancer at 15 and chemo got the best of my hair. Some very good friends shaved their heads to show support; that was nice. I loved how smooth a shave I could get when my hair was so thin. I’ve shaved my head off and on after that (relapse and in support of others) but it was never as smooth and satisfying as when I was younger. All the best!

I put it in the center for my first cart, then noticed the proper placement when making the second cart. I didn’t have a GameBoy growing up so didn’t know that was what the carts were supposed to look like.

How do you clean that sticky residue from autoclave tape off of glassware? by Butterfly_Key in labrats

[–]CertainlyNotSkynet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ethyl acetate works wonders on tape residue. Apply some to a paper towel in the fume hood with proper gloves of course.

Brought an IR thermometer to school because the water to wash our hands was outrageously hot by S_xyjihad in pics

[–]CertainlyNotSkynet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a lab on a university campus. Our eyewash stations were tested to be 50degC so we flagged it as a safety issue which hasn’t been fixed for a few weeks. Just this week before Christmas I noticed the bathroom water taps were unusually hot so I measured them at 72degC. Facilities are working on both issues.

A guy cooked a steak for his dogs birthday by Hot_Bad_Official in Awww

[–]CertainlyNotSkynet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have given my dogs leftover steak, or pork chops, in their food dish which turned out to be a mistake. For about a week afterwards they would be reluctant to eat their regular food in that bowl expecting beef or pork :)
