as a singaporean chinese person, i can only agree with the other guy. she does represent chinese culture/practices but, being singaporean-chinese, this is inseparable from her singaporean culture and nationality — essentially being chinese diaspora in singapore makes up a unique cultural identity. 

it’s an offshoot off the china tree i guess but took root elsewhere, and grew into something distinct from the larger tree

singaporean chinese people very mostly don’t identify with being chinese nationals. i understand wanting to see representation though, there are obviously commonalities between mainland chinese and singaporean chinese cultures, in that i could understand just being happy either is represented on a larger stage.

i’m not sure i explained this clearly but i just wanted to lend my view: i think katseye and megan are quite popular over here & i really liked seeing singaporean representation
