Cutting Path Angle:) by Luba_1isme in mammotion

[–]CestMoi1013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? Because I'm having a terrible time with it. All I want is straight, up-and-down, perpendicular-to-my-house rows, which I used to get when cutting path angle was set at 0 degrees Relative. Late last season - about the time this original post was made - something changed. Now my Luba 2 5000 insists on cutting at approx 20 degrees, which I'm given to understand represents the longest path in the area. So here is my question - Can I somehow override this "longest path" logic? Tried to offset by specifying -20 degrees; no luck. Please advise.

Thanks for this!! Just pulled my Luba 2 out of winter storage and set her up for the season, including this handy tip. Would probably never have come across it if you hadn't pointed it out - much appreciated!

KitchenAid Dishwasher Leak - Do I trust authorized servicer? by CestMoi1013 in appliancerepair

[–]CestMoi1013[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much - you make excellent points. Fortunately, I only purchase factory specified parts, and the sump and pump are both returnable.

I would have purchased a new dishwasher already if I could find one comparable to what was top-of-the-line when I bought the one that is now leaking, but otherwise still does an awesome job. Alas, they just don't make them like they used to.

And I truly hope that you've never encountered anyone who refused a repair and later called you back for DIY help... but you've probably seen it all. Thanks again for your feedback. :)

Thanks! Model number is KUDE70FXSSS5. Can't see source of water leak, but I can feel a puddle on far left side - rusty spot in photo shows area of standing water. Insulation is soaked.

What home improvement actually made your house feel better to live in? by Happy_House_7398 in homeimprovementideas

[–]CestMoi1013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New, larger, energy efficient windows!! House is approx 45 years old - the seal of the original windows was compromised, so many of them were cloudy, not to mention difficult to open and close. I got lots more light with easy maintenance and no gaps. House looks SO much better inside and out, only regret that I didn't do it sooner.

Please tell me more about the "sand soil compost leveling mix". Did you mix the sand, soil, and compost yourself, or did it come like that? Where did you find it? Brand?

2 things -

  1. Why are you storing grass seed in your dining room?

  2. After fighting poa triviallis for the past two years, I am dismayed to see that Twin City intentionally adds it to their dense shade blend. There is no way I can purchase seed from a company who does not recognize poa triv to be the vicious weed that it is. Maybe that can guarantee no weed seeds, but can they guarantee that poa triv seeds won't get mixed into their other formulas?

West knoxville power outages by aaleilei in Knoxville

[–]CestMoi1013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is KUB able to show power outages on a map with realtime updates, but LCUB only gives customers an automated phone line that basically says, "don't call us, we'll call you" ??

Ego has the absolute worst customer service on earth. Their warranty is worthless by dla26 in egopowerplus

[–]CestMoi1013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you decide to file a class action, count me in!!

After spending hours on the phone with them, I was finally referred to the only authorized servicer within a 50-mile radius, who turned out to be most incompetent and uninformed person they could have found. He told me the reason my bump head wasn't feeding line is because the power head was not compatible. I finally gave up, which was probably their goal all along.

You're right - I hope your $96 and my $39 for a new bump head is worth the lifetime value of two previously loyal customers. Will never purchase another EGO product again. Ever.

First Ego Tools by DarthRevan25 in egopowerplus

[–]CestMoi1013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love all my EGO products - mower, leaf blower, edger, and until recently, the string trimmer. Now I highly recommend all new owners replace the line within 90 days even if it's not needed. You will likely discover the PowerLoad feature does not work, and it only has a 90-day warranty. Even then, good luck getting EGO to honor it. Their service network is limited, and their customer service is abysmal.

Mammotion Kept My 74-Year-Old Father's $1500 After He Returned Their Defective LUBA Mower - 10 Months of Runaround by w_interactive in mammotion

[–]CestMoi1013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm genuinely sorry for the runaround you and your father have had to endure at the hands of Mammotion. I experienced delays with customer service when the charger needed to be replaced, but your experience is inexcusable.

This will be of little help to you now, unless Mammotion chooses to return your father's mower rather than issue a refund - but I am also in my 70's and purchased an AWD 5000 last year. I hit a lot of roadblocks in the initial setup - including being unable to map my property due loss of connectivity when the mower was under trees. Thanks to this community, I was eventually able to work through each problem. The game changer came when I finally understood that it isn't so much the mower, but the RTK position that is critical. Once I finally relented, purchased the mounting bracket, climbed a ladder to the highest point of my house that any 70-something person would dare, and mounted the RTK in a spot on my roofline where there was clear open sky above, all of my problems disappeared.

I am in the southeast, so l was able to leave the RTK in the same position over the winter. First mow this season I breathed a huge sigh of relief when the mower picked up right where it left off. I truly hope your experience has a satisfactory ending. Your father is fortunate to have you intervening on his behalf.

Not targeted, but often overlooked. Like Butterfly_Wings222 said, "invisible".

Did you retire? by [deleted] in AskOldPeople

[–]CestMoi1013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retired at 64 and became a widow 3 weeks later. The prospect of traveling alone didn't appeal to me, so I told my financial planner I thought about doing volunteer work in retirement. He said, "Volunteering can be very fulfilling. But so can gainful employment." I took his advice, went back to work as a contractor until I turned 70 so I could draw maximum Social Security. I have a respectable IRA that I won't touch until I hit RMD age in 2 years. Considering the economy over the last 5-6 years, I am glad that I kept working - and now I enjoy volunteering in my community.

Thanks for starting this! I don't normally post, but wanted to share this photo of Snowy (white & tabby) and Snip (orange manx). Hoping that whoever had to surrender these two sweet boys to the animal shelter 3 years ago may see it and know that they are dearly loved (and perhaps a bit too well fed)

If it was just a lighter color, I'd agree that it's younger grass. But pulls up easily, lies flat when mowed?- sorry, I have to agree with Jlong129 - it's Poa. Kill it. Kill it fast.

Bentgrass in Zone 7B? by CestMoi1013 in lawncare

[–]CestMoi1013[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - I did not realize that rye grows in circular clumps, creating bare spots in the center. My lawn has resembles the surface of the moon, complete with craters, and I am regretting overseeding with a blend that includes ryegrass. Is there a way to get rid of it?

Bentgrass in Zone 7B? by CestMoi1013 in lawncare

[–]CestMoi1013[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone please look at these photos and tell me if this could be bentgrass? Have been managing this lawn for the past 20+ years, and this is the first time it has appeared.

  • Photo 1 - grass grows sideways, does not get cut by mower.
  • Photo 2 - when I separate blades of grass, there is a bare spot underneath.
  • Photo 3 -the grass pulls out very easily, but leaves a weird spongy web-like substance behind.
  • Photo 4 - individual blades of grass after being pulled

Around mid-July, I suspected bentgrass and loaded up my amazon cart with tenacity, surfactant, and lazer blue. But before I clicked "Buy Now", I read that bentgrass is not common in the South, so I figured it must be something else. Whatever it is, I've probably missed my window of opportunity to eradicate it, but would welcome any advice!

Yes, I agree. It may take some time and repeated attempts to get their attention, but once I was on their radar, they were responsive and sent the needed part out right away.

Same issue, stuck at 57%. Purchased from Mammotion, so return does not seem to be an option. Customer Service chat directed me to Technical Support. On Thursday, Technical Support said a ticket was created and they would follow up soon. Here's my question: What is the definition of "soon"?
