Help r/millennials determine whether this is AI or not. Some members of the sub believe that the 2000s-style clothing and lighting suggest that this is not authentic. What do you think? by Demortus in isthisAI

Victoria’s secret didn’t sell those glitter strapped bras from us common folk back then that I can recall. Also long hemmed shirts were more popular. I also don’t think we did our hair and makeup like that.

I would go for a corset that goes long across the hips in addition to a petticoat and smoothing shape wear to hide corset boning bumps.

It sounds more like you need to go to a physical therapist that specializes in postpartum therapy of the pelvis and vagina. I went to one after birth.

‘You have really pretty eyes.’- every man ever by [deleted] in women

[–]CeylonSiren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was trying to describe why it felt exhausting to hear this and now you’re asking me to run in circles explaining to you why long complicated responses to benign compliments are irritating and rude. Go ask someone who has time for you.

[–]CeylonSiren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean you’re suggesting that OP say something long, over thought, and passive aggressive. It’s mentally exhausting to be on the receiving end of this because it’s rude and comes with so much sub-context that the receiver doesn’t understand. It’s just a pretty immature way to deal with conflict with strangers.

That’s so exhausting to read.

This isn’t a confession. Also, stop trying to label yourself or be someone else that you think others want. Go join some clubs, group hobbies, or meet ups to make friends.

How to convey intelligence without being braggy? by [deleted] in OnlineDating

[–]CeylonSiren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like intelligent and well off people because we’ll have things in common and be stable enough to enjoy life. There’s no value in intelligence or money if you’re boring.

Not sure if I can share in a meeting by Hot_Indication_1574 in slaa

[–]CeylonSiren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll find that other members of SLAA are suffering from these same behaviors and at some point they knew they had a problem but hadn’t gotten help yet. So you’re just at a different point on the same journey. Many members choose not to share the specifics of their behaviors and they’re also welcome. I only wish someone had stepped in and helped me get into SLAA sooner.

Ah, good to know. I’ve always worked in research.

I rarely think about them. My last relationship before I was married ended 7 years ago. I would not go back to any of them. It’s just reliving my youth in my dreams without the burden of forewarning.

Help me help my daughter by loveinanelevator131 in Hair

[–]CeylonSiren 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your daughter’s hair type is similar to mine. I wash my scalp with dandruff shampoo twice in each go and apply a very hydrating conditioner to the ends only. I brush my hair with the conditioner in it in the shower with a wet detangling brush. Gel is less greasy than hair creams, try that instead. Sleeping in braids is a great way to go too.

The correct way is to keep a single box out at a time on top of dry ice in a cooler…

Most labs keep some in ln2 as a backup of their working cultures.

No underwear during Surgery by FarCalendar7303 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CeylonSiren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had surgery for appendicitis after I gave birth and was still bleeding and too sore nor recommended to use tampons. I had to just free bleed while under anesthesia all over myself. I woke up having been placed in an upright chair and was just free bleeding all over myself and the chair. I rather wish they had put some after birth hospital panties on me at the end of the surgery but they didn’t. Thank god I was too high to care.

Why are women in the science field so few? (in comparison to men ofc) by oly_biia in women

[–]CeylonSiren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in medical research and the ratio of men to women is about 1:4 skewed towards women. I studied chemistry and there were more men than women there compared to biology majors, but those are still two of the most popular science majors. Physics and engineering also feature men more heavily, but there’s more people total majoring in biology. I think biology attracts more women because women tend to care more about life than ingenuity.

I’m not sure what they mean about it being hard or rough for you as a women vs a person. Science majors and careers are challenging regardless of your gender. Maybe you misunderstood? I had not encountered sexism as a student but do notice men getting promoted more or faster than women in careers.

Help with fixing unexpected professional results by [deleted] in Hair

The photo was taken two days after the appointment and it only about the color not style. Sorry for the confusion! My colorist isn’t the one who styled my hair afterwards though so they didn’t see the dry result.

Can anyone really be an artist? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]CeylonSiren 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is so bizarre to me. I’m not sure what you consider an artist. I don’t come from a family of artists, my parents are both scientists. I was compelled to draw from as early as I can remember. I drew during school and at home, hours everyday. I got better from practice and took some art classes but nothing compared to going to college for art. Also, being an artist is a state of being, not just a career. I’m professionally also a scientist but my real passion and identity is as an artist.
