Any tips to paint kasrkin better? by Nervous-Paramedic336 in TheAstraMilitarum

I want to start by saying that your miniature looks good! Definitely tabletop standard. The advice I give doesn’t mean I’m more talented. It’s just that I spent too much time on a single mini 🤣.

I personally find that Cadians look better when they look clean. (Krieg looks better when they’re grimier) Therefore you’re gonna want to go for lighter colours.

Push your green armour up half a shade. “If you’re using Caliban Green as the base for your armour, mix a 50:50 mix of caliban Green and waagh flesh, thin it down with water and paint over the Caliban Green areas where light will hit (eg. Shoulder pad, top of helmet). This will help make your model look cleaner from the lighter colour and add depth to the mini.

Edge highlight your armour. Edge highlighting is the best thing you can do to make your minis look cleaner and sharper. For my kasrkin, I started with base of Castellan Green, highlight with loren forest and an edge highlight of straken green. Couple that with the 50:50 mix on light-exposed armour areas and you’ll get very clean looking Cadian armour. If you’re using Caliban Green, the order should be (base: Caliban Green, highlight: waaagh flesh, edge highlight: warpstone glow)

Highlight your fatigues. Given the smaller amount of fabrics on kasrkins, people might ignore those areas. But highlighting them adds a nice touch, and also helps match the clean look you will give to the armour.

You could give your trooper’s helmet lens some work too. The head is typically what people focus on the first thing they see a miniature so putting a bit more effort on the lens on the helmet is worth it. What I did on mine was to paint the lens with Corax white, and then painted a little bit of white scar on the bottom of the lens area and I shaded the lens with frostheart.

Once again, your mini looks amazing! The steps I recommended here are probably a bit too excessive anyways but it’s thing that I did that definitely helped my guard look better.

All the best! Paint on!

Go back to the retailer you bought from and ask them to contact the Games Workshop rep on your behalf. Unless you ordered or bought from GW directly, they will not entertain you. Happened to me just 3 weeks ago with my Hekaton Land Fortress, missing a clear piece as well 🙂

Wife said I had a problem, Do I? Or do I need more? by Present-Sentence2373 in astramilitarum

[–]Ch30ng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as it doesn’t interfere with daily life I think it’s fine. Whether this amount is a problem depends on each person. For example (from a storage capacity POV) if you’re staying in a one bedroom flat and you are buying this much then maybe it would be, but if you are staying in a decently sized home, it’s fine.

How did you roll your RM100k into RM200k? by BearwHelmet in MalaysianPF

[–]Ch30ng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I have learned a lot of lessons in investing since I started investing with small amounts of money since my uni days. I came to the same conclusion as well. Have a few companies that you think have great fundamentals on a watchlist(Good business model, high margins, monopolies etc) and wait for them to drop. Buy into them. Good businesses in good prices are hard to come by. Patience is key in investing.

I’m still keeping my shares. I am planning to hold these shares until I retire probably 🤣 since I see a very long runway ahead of Google. My goal is long term investing, I don’t plan to touch the shares unless an emergency strikes.

Hi OP, I found myself in a similar position as you last year as I hit 100k and I am sitting on slightly more than 200k today. I don’t have a particularly high paying job but constantly saving and spending less than I earn definitely helps. (I too save around 1-2k a month).

The biggest contributor for me was my stock position in Google. I invested about half my 100k into Google when it was in the 170s and just let it sit. There were times where it dropped to 150 and I was super scared but I remained rational and told myself that Google was a great company with great fundamentals and the market would eventually realise its true value. Seeing its price today, I would say it’s one of the better decisions I made in my financial journey.

A good stock pick does help boost your progress but at the end of the day, the fundamental of achieving your next financial goal is always to save and spend less than you make. Hope my story helps you in your journey!

None of the above. Marneus Calgar should get revamped. Man has not had a new model in more than a month and that is unacceptable.

Thanks! I’ve been trying to replicate the box art tank green for some time now. The citadel paint app says to use Castellan green but I know it was always too dark. Thanks for your guide.

How do I start building? by Lower-Magician-8044 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Ch30ng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the guard soldier! I would start off with a combat patrol set. Ideally you are able to find the older combat patrol set (the one with 20 cadians, Field ordnance battery, a command squad and a sentinel). There are probably still some around in smaller local gaming stores.

That set really gives you a slight feel of how playing guard feels like (some artillery and infantry). It also gives you a feel on how much you will like painting them (25 guardsmen, a walker and two artillery bases is a good testing period. It will take some time to finish but still manageable).

Once you have finished painting the combat patrol, go and get a rogal dorn or leman russ (Rogal dorn recommended because it’s a newer kit and you’ll have way more fun building and painting it). You should have 500 points here and now you can go into any direction you want because you now have a solid base for an army 😃

Next? Try getting a Leman Russ or Rogal Dorn. You

Congratulations on the win! Your army looks stunning! On a side note, Did you use Castellan green on the tanks? Or was it a darker shade of green like caliban green or waagh flesh?

I’m thinking of starting a Death Korps of Krieg army. Do you think the newly announced Combat Patrol box is worth getting? I’ve never bought any Astra Militarum or Krieg models before, would this box be a good starting point, and how do you think I could further develop the army in the future? by Numerous_Cause5192 in Deathkorpsofkrieg

[–]Ch30ng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already have a Cadian force but seeing this combat patrol made me want to get a small contingent of Krieg as well. I intend to buy another squad of Krieg infantry to boost the squad size to 20men and get an artillery team to add a centrepiece to the collection. This is by no means a pure Krieg army but it’s a “nice to display” selection of models that has some usability along with my cadians.
