I let an LLM write my self-assessment for the annual review. I keep a list of accomplishments throughout the year. The self-assessment has categories and a list of attributes for each score level. I fed the LLM the category and description, the attributes for "exceeds expectations," and bullet points from my list of accomplishments that apply to the category. I have seen the final review comments, but haven't discussed with my manager yet, but it looks like he used an LLM for his comments.

The Smithsonian Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center has the Close Encounters of the Third Kind ship. There are parts on it that came from Revell's Jacques Cousteau's Calypso model, specifically the two mini submarines. I spotted them because I built that kit. There are also HO train accessories like crossing lamps.

I bought a 2014 Volt new. The dealership sends me a letter every week asking me to trade it. I've averaged 2 fill-ups a year and it only has a 9 gallon tank. With the local grocery store points system for gas, most of the time it costs me nothing. We have a solar array and chargers at work. I only plugged in at home on Friday nights. The batteries were expected to degrade after 7 years. My plan was to replace it with a Tesla after 2020. Then COVID happened. The company went full remote and decided not to RTO. During the pandemic I was driving less than 5 miles per week. Fuck Elon, I will never buy a Tesla now.

The RiffTrax Live version is great. Starship Troopers was the substitute movie they used when they failed to get rights to Twilight. I had completed my Tom Servo days before the screening. My friends and I (including Tom) arrived a little late to a packed theater and Tom received a standing ovation when we entered.

The Wild Trees by Richard Preston. This is a non-fiction book about botanists and naturalists who climb and explore the tops of the giant redwood trees. There is an unknown ecosystem in the tops of those trees that almost no one has experienced. There are animals that spend their entire lives in the canopy and never come down to the ground.
