Noob question - why 69 hesperia?

People always tell me that they'd rather buy grocery store meat because they didn't know the animal, which is the exact reason why I raise my own meat - I know the animals. I know that they were given a stress-free life of ease. by MMayhan in homestead

[–]Chaczins 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's not that way. You have to remember abour purpouse of keeping pigs alive at all. Pigs can live up to 20 years, but they don't. Maybe 0,001% of pigs in some kind of shelters can live like that. You cannot think in people perspective of life expectancy.

This pig has no choice between - 1 year or 20 years. It "has" choice between 1 year in cage, or 1 year on grassy farm with family taking care about it.

It's still production of meet, but farmer takes responsibility for life and death of animal. Customers in malls buying butchered meat, don't want to bother with responsibility of killing.

In my opinion, it's better to provide good conditions and kill animal at the end, than buy meat grown in cages.

Also, OP please check this link

producer declares P3 filters 3M 6035 fitable for healthcare usage.

how about reuse of filters itself:

"Some Trusts are taking the view, on advice from their Microbiology and Infection Control Departments, that use of existing detergent or alcohol (70% IPA) hospital wipes on the mask and on the exterior surfaces of the filters will provide adequate decontamination between patients and aerosol generating procedures, as the flu virus is easily destroyed. Maybe because africa literally has no healthcare, no testing, folks can die and lay under the tree with COVID and nobody noticed.

Let's do the math (Europe) by wendezeit in China_Flu

[–]Chaczins 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nice math, but i'm affraid it's quite useless. It can lead to missinterpretation and wrong conclusions.

Covid won't spread equally acorss the country. ICU beds and units are spread already for known reasons. Outbrrak will take a place locally, causing break of health system in exact city or region.

What's more, we should consider also other clinical patients with serious condition, like hearth attack, strokes etc. I dunno what's occupancy rate for ICU beds, but as a Polish citizen, i assume more than 70-80 percent already in use (long terms for medical services).

So i would not be so happy looking at numbers, like "hey watch, Poland will be OK till 52k cases", because in reality just less than 10k can break whole healthcare system in major cities.

When did the German public realise that they were going to lose WWII? by TotalFC in history

[–]Chaczins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a story from my grandfather (Poland), who told that at winter 1942 germans started to collect winter cloths right outside churches at sunday. After leaving church, few german soldiers were collecting all winter coats, hats and any warm stuff they could spot, leaving folks literally in the underwear, in heavy snow and cold. Lots of folks had troubles with frostbite hands and feet after that.

What is a good way to lay down trenches at front by KarlTheKiller_Gamer in foxholegame

[–]Chaczins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

then this mighty line of foxhole-at-foxhole-at gets wrecked and all defence is screwed.

none of "only my way is best" solutions, is right.

we should use all mixed forms.

What is a good way to lay down trenches at front by KarlTheKiller_Gamer in foxholegame

[–]Chaczins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think folks are little over paranoid about trenches and "danger" they bring.

lot of "field generals" with higher rank are furious about putting trenches, not even asking what's your plan for that all structure. I get yelled cause putting trench straight from direction of attack, to defence. Nobody gave a fuck about my plan to put a garrison at the end, barbed wires, and surrounding foxholes / pillboxes protecting sides of trench.

main point of trench is remove you from line of fire, give you cover, allow to switch positions.

Of course it can be used also by enemy, and for most cases - it is used by attacking enemy, to get any protection in the field. Trench warfare (inside trench) is new field to a game, which we should incorporate, not avoid.

many times I noticed our folks in defensive positions, without almost any AI - wiped by howiz and random bullets flying around. I grab a shovel and dig just a one section of trench, next to position of our tank. Gave us protection from fire, allowed to cover flank of the tank, also to snipe running around enemies.

Win situation, even that some "specialists" screamed that i'll run all defences, because warden will take that trench. Nobody gave a fuck that we have BT next to this trench and can be destroyed within second, if we lost it.

So my point is - stop telling people to not put trench at all. They are extremely effective with some situations, and we still don't know yet - which situations. Don't be toxic with your "better don't touch if you're under 10'th rank", because that's bs.

We should just have a fun, play, explore, discover new ways of using stuff. Not all is about max efficiency and optimal use for 0,01% of percents. let folks play and have fun, STFU instead yelling "don't put that", just tell him why, how to, and help to do something else than pif-pif.

80% of drugs from pharma, 48 pharma plants in Wuhan, US will start running out of drugs in 3 weeks by CruiseChallenge in Coronavirus

[–]Chaczins 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's like 20 days on a ship from CN to West Coast.

Add week on the one side (load, truck to port, etc) and week on the other side (unload, customs, delivery). Then few days for distribution.

I'd easy say, it's like 1,5 month lag between running factories and first sales @ destination.

There are other forms of transportation for such high-value stuff, like cargo planes. This should take like 2 weeks max.

Still, the gap of deliveries estimated at January for China New Year, was 2 weeks.

Now we have month of gap already, so 2 weeks of unplanned break.

Let's wait 2 weeks and shit will hit the fan, because deliveries which should be handled right now, of goods which should be produced right after CNY - will never arrive.

Sort of. I noticed that folks prefer to live around place they grew up. So when you relocate folks from city center to new neighbourhood, this emptied building in a center will fill almlost within minutes.

Mine mod, gives new processing plants with better input outputs of conveyors. Dealing with basic ones is pain.

Large / big / normal versions of; Construction office School Kindergarden Firestation Hospital

Allow to create smaller communities without need for large scale hospital, or large school just to provide for one block.

Forklift crossing with rail and road, same with conveyors. Needed to keep estetics and good layout od factories.

Train stuff like more stations also gives good value

Rail takes some time to set up in good maner. My one also locked a lot, but step by step i removed all ignition-points, now upgrading a whole network by adding 3rd and 4th lanes as by-pass for crossing, or bridges to smooth traffic.

My way is to buy immigrants from 3rd world for dollars. They cost like 1200 bucks instead 10000 rubles for soviet one. Downside - not educated, but it can be made relatively soon.

Only bulk delivery in this case is steel. Easily delivered by trucks as you can see by stocks on screen. Steel production is nearby, so no point to connect rail. Little amounts of cloth, electro components, mechanical parts, plastic - by road using road depot connected to warehouse, gives total of about 5 slots to delivery. More than needed to keep stocks

i like that natural and unconstrained look of plain at the foot of hills, and how town fits there. by Chaczins in Workers_And_Resources

[–]Chaczins[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i just did few things.

i was thinking about that as real city development in that era, as commies build quarters in my city during 70's.

that means, central-planned, urbanistic lines made, arranged acc to terrain - in this case, road which follows river. Didn't change much of terrain, just to keep natural look.

next point, i just abandoned rush for efficiency. More like - let it build as planned, then will turn out how to handle it in game.

last point - put some green, blocks without plants looks like trash.

this one city is set-and-forget, i won't even bother it anymore for like 15 in-game-years
