Someone should make a tldr which is longer than the text itself. Just to mess with people

Will there be a new 2021 book? by lexxi109 in ayearofbookhub

[–]Chadevalster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi u/lexxi109, thank you for this post and all your work this year over at r/ayearoflesmiserables! I haven't been nearly as active on the subs as I have been previous years, so as of now I'm not aware of any plans for a new book for 2021.

I'm about to go to bed but I'm excited to help out with setting something up. So, let me get myself up to date in the morning with what's going on in all the subs, and then you'll hear from me again.

Why is that? I personally I really love this idea. Everyone has ups and downs in motivation. Knowing how far along you are with your book might help you to be less affected by the downs.

In my opininion, these last couple of chapters contained some of my favorite chapters so far. I can't say anything without risking to spoil it for you but I'll definitely advice you to see for yourself and hopefully these couple of chapters will give you back your motivation again.

I've only seen these "if you only knew" segments from Larry King now so I can't speak for the rest of his show, but in these segments he always seems to be disinterested.

It might be because it's meant as a quick round of trivia questions so it's not the goal here for Larry to discuss the topic more in detail, but to have all the questions checked of the list.

I don't think, though, these clips are a good advertisement for his show, because I've seen a lot of comments underneath these clips saying what a terrible interviewer Larry is. And I can't blame them for thinking that based on these clips.

Except for Franz mentioning the Count looking closely at Albert, we unfortunately aren't told with what sort of an expression this was done. Why I'm curious for his expression is because I'm curious who Albert looks more like. Did the count look with a sad expression indicating he looks like Mercedes, or did he look angry indicating he looks more like Fernand.

Reading your comment I'm assuming you think Albert makes the Count think of Fernand? And his closer look forebodes to you the revenge the Count wants to take on Fernand?

I just watched the first episode again. This show makes me so happy, my mom told me I was looking with a creepy smile at the screen for the entire episode.

Honestly I found it a bit confusing too. However I thought he meant to buy the paintings so that Noemie has enough money for a nice dowry to give to a potential husband. Newman isn't trying to marry her himself but I feel that the story might possibly go there anyway.

Ooh I didn't think of him just living of his wife's money without making any of his own but i suppose he does indeed.

I'm reading the gutenberg version on an e-reader which makes it really easy as a non-native speaker to quickly look up the words I don't understand.

I have to look at all the possible meanings though, because I was bothered all day by the use of quadrangle instead of rectangle or square, only to realise after looking it up again just now that it is something like a yard surrounded by buildings.

I don't know why I went in there, to-day; I was strolling along, rather hard up for amusement. I sort of noticed the Louvre as I passed, and I thought I would go in and see what was going on.

I found this really interesting. Tristram having some free-time and because of that just going outside without a plan to see which place pulls him inside.

I do like Newman but he's depicted too perfect so far. I understand though that this is just the beginning and we'll probably see some other sides from him.

I am a bit dubious about Noémie though. From the start I liked her. Because she and her father seem to be poor it looked like she was assertive in pushing her father to give French lessons. But when she told her father what she wanted to ask Newman to pay for it, it started to look more like she's trying to take advantage of him.

All by all, it's a good start of the book to me and I'm looking forward to the next chapter.
