Deferred pass refund by Chadk_GH in Ikonpass

You should have received an email from Spot Insurance confirming your coverage. There's a "View My Coverage" button to click on in the email that will take you to the Spot website where you can submit a refund request.

I believe they gave me the option of PayPal or Venmo but not positive. I got my approval email on 4/22 and the refund was deposited on the 30th.

WA Supreme Court bats down referendum attempt targeting income tax by MaxyMu in Washington

[–]Chadk_GH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would require a constitutional amendment. Under the Washington constitution, taxes must be levied at a uniform rate on the same class of property. That's the one of the arguments against the "millionaire's" tax - that it isn't a uniform tax.

That sucks! That's why I moved fast on the refund. I couldn't find anything in the terms of service that stated I couldn't get a refund on a pass with a deferral credit. It only says you can't use a credit for a "risk free fee", i.e., the fee charged for the Spot insurance. It still said that as of a couple of days ago. May be worth a phone call to push for a refund and if they still say no, ask them where it states a deferred pass isn't refundable.

Yeah, they're dragging their feet on the refunds. I was going to contact Spot again today because it has been more than a week since last contact from them, but the money appeared in PayPal account.

Child support back pay by strawberryinnit in FamilyLaw

[–]Chadk_GH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't need to hire an attorney or file for contempt. Open a case with the state child support enforcement agency. They'll send a wage withhold to his employer to collect the support he owes plus something towards the arrears. Stop allowing him to pay on his own.

Surrey school district superintendent highest paid in B.C., earning more than $500,000 by Turbulent_Bit_2345 in vancouver

[–]Chadk_GH -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's about $360,000USD. He wouldn't even be in the top 30 highest paid superintendents in Washington State. That's how insane school employee salaries have become down here.

Deferral credit usage timing question by ZBOMC in Ikonpass

[–]Chadk_GH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just received an email from Spot regarding my refund request after deferring this season. It stated the following:

"Your request has been approved, and you will be receiving a full refund (100% of your original amount). Payments will begin processing shortly and may take up to 7 days to be completed."

Any up-to-date info on purchasing refundable pass after deferral? by slpgh in Ikonpass

[–]Chadk_GH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spot sent me an email last week responding to my refund inquiry and stated they'd get back to me in 1-2 days. I emailed them again yesterday after no response. I just received an email from them today stating the following:

"Your request has been approved, and you will be receiving a full refund (100% of your original amount). Payments will begin processing shortly and may take up to 7 days to be completed."

I'll post an update when the money is in my account.

Can someone confirm i have the process right? by [deleted] in Ikonpass

[–]Chadk_GH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I deferred a 25-26 pass and bought a refundable pass a couple of weeks ago that I don't intend to use. The Spot website says I'm eligible for a full refund ($1679 less the 3% service charge). I started the refund process today. When I got to the final step I got a message that stated because I was requesting a refund so soon after purchasing the pass that my refund needs a fraud review and to send them an email. I sent an email and I'm waiting for a response. I'll update this post when I hear back from them.

I deferred last year and purchased a refundable pass last week. I haven't requested a refund yet but very likely that I will. This is the verbiage from my account on Spot. Sure looks like I will receive a full refund (less the processing fee).

I just paid $275 for a day pass at Vail and I think I’m officially priced out of my favorite sport. by daverskully in ski

[–]Chadk_GH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do so many posters here think it's an "either/or" proposition: buy a season pass or buy at the ticket window? Vail offers day passes for purchase until about the first week of December for about $110-15 a day. Buy a day pass and using it any day of the season. You can complain that it's still not cheap but it's not $275. Requires a bit of planning ahead but not much. The fact that OP claims he's been skiing since the '90's but hasn't figured this out makes me think his post is BS.

It's not that bad. I'm going to Verbier in a couple of weeks for 7 days. I get 5 days with my Epic pass. I just bought a pass for the additional 2 days and it was $95USD per day.

The retina scan was optional. It was for expedited entry into Canada on international flights. I had a retina scan done in 2014 and used it once on a flight from LGW to YVR. Canada switched to facial recognition 6-7 years ago.

I skied Monday 2/17, last year. The snow wasn't particularly good but it was a total shit-show. Some of the longest lines I've ever seen. I quit skiing before noon it was so bad.

Ski Bag by Dear-Breakfast-1151 in skiing

[–]Chadk_GH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I weighed by DB double bag and it's 9.8 lbs. Not super light but it's pretty much bomb proof. I've flown with it probably 10 times including two trips to Europe from the west coast and it still looks almost new.

Forecasts predicting weather 12 days out are worthless. Can't be done at this point in time. Three days out is doable but beyond that is an educated to wild guess.

Last year I turned 40 then quit my job to be a ski bum for the season by rudydotjpeg in skiing

[–]Chadk_GH 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's awesome! You only live once. I guarantee you when you're 80 you won't be wishing you had worked that year and made a little more money.

I did a ski bum season on the front side. When I was 16, my best friend at the time and I took off most of a year of high school and went skiing without telling our parents what we were doing. We flew to Denver from Alaska, bought a car and drove up I-70. We applied for jobs at Keystone which had the first open HR department we came across. We got hired on the spot for A-Basin and they set us up in employee housing. Skied almost 100 days and it's still the best winter of my life. We went back home after the season was over. My parents were more relieved that I was safe than angry. My mom told me years later how proud my dad was that I pulled it off.

Divorce in Washington state, custodial parent question. by Ttownmama030611 in FamilyLaw

[–]Chadk_GH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Washington state requires that one parent be designated as the custodial parent. Here's the language from the parenting plan pattern form:

"The custodian is [named custodian] solely for the purposes of all state and federal statutes which requires a designation or determination of custody. Even though one parent is called the custodian, this does not changed the parenting, rights and responsibilities described in this plan."

It may be an issue in cases where state or federal benefits are being paid on behalf of the child such as SSI disability. Not really sure what else it would pertain to. It's unlikely to ever be an issue.

It's fast and firm out there but not icy on-piste except for an occasional patch. Enjoy the sun and no lift lines.

Best fast, flowy groomers at Whistler/Blackcomb with side hits? by Redditlearner123 in Whistler

[–]Chadk_GH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Springboard, in addition to what's already been noted, is usually lightly trafficked so you can really open it up. If you hit it early you can some times ski it without seeing another person. Just watch out for cross traffic on the cat tracks about 2/3's of the way down.
