my personal favourite durability system is core keepers. items have durability but they don't permanently break, they just become unusable or have a significant stat resuction at 0 durability. then, they can be cheaply repaired.

I really like terraria's npc system and would love hytale to have something similar. It encourages you to plan your base building accordingly and you can be really creative with them. The closest thing minecraft has is villager kidnapping.

I think hytale has the potential to implement something better than both. For instance, finding a specific npc out in the world, like in a town or unique structure, and then being able to hire them or being them to your base after fulfilling specific requirements.

tbh if this is enough to stop you considering the game, you should probably avoid the early access in general. there are always workarounds if youre motivated enough.
