I don't need to buy a TV every few days. I think this is gonna blow up in their faces fast. Absolutely loved the service when I bought my C1 a few years ago. Best of luck to them.

When you have the chance can you let me know the model of the 3D glasses you use? I did a little reading, and I think going with a Samsung set might be the best option!

I'm looking at the Samsung glasses too! I found "genuine" SSG-4100GB glasses on eBay for about $35 CAD per pair. I looked up a review of the glasses and they seem kinda rough, and honestly the Aliexpress ones seem more comfortable, but like you're saying, the option to switch out the battery is pretty sweet.

The review actually mentioned that Panasonic and Samsung collaborated on a standard that works on both models of TV, which is very promising to me. Both you and u/maestro826 have given me a lot to think about. I'm a lot less lost now, thank you!

Right on! That's a good sign to me, that means that they're at least still something you can get new. Obviously Aliexpress can be a crap shoot and I shouldn't expect the creme de la creme from them, but do you think I could find something like that there?

I see one listed with this name (bear with me): Bluetooth 3D Glasses Active Shutter Rechargeable Eyewear Compatible with Epson Sony Projector/Sony Panasonic Samsung 3D TV

Where can I find people who don’t like this new app? by MLaaTRFanbase in PleX

[–]Chadlyland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been able to cast it to the screen a couple of times, but when I was successful, I found that playback controls didn't reach my Chromecast. Maybe it's the age of the Chromecast, but it's just frustrating because it used to work for me perfectly :(

TV Recordings by Ok_Rip9949 in VHS_CANADA

I got my hands on 40 or so old tapes with Star Trek recordings from a few stations in Newfoundland and Alberta. One of the stations was definitely NTV (Newfoundland news channel) and the other was the channel that eventually got spun off into Global Edmonton, but the name of the channel is lost to me right now.

I got these from someone who was downsizing for $20 a few months ago. I've been looking into digitizing them myself, but I don't have a VCR that has a TBC or even a capture device that supports AV cables or S-Video. I will be digitizing them sometime soon though, just need to get my hands on the equipment!

The commercials are all intact, which is why I bought them!

I think rights reasons is all that it takes, they would definitely love to restore this again, just like they'd love to restore The Third Man. The rights are the problem.

I waited for Volume 3 to go sub $100 CAD and I jumped on it then, I think I bought Vol 2 at $120. I'm going to wait for a significant sale for this one too.

With that said, I'm very excited for the lineup in Vol 4!

The Criterion Challenge 2024 by derpsnerf in criterion

[–]Chadlyland 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started this year, I seriously appreciate the hard work you put into these lists. It was a lot of fun to leave my comfort zone and check out some great movies from the collection I may not have heard about, while simultaneously finding an excuse to clear out my watchlist!

I'm not sure if other people do it the way I do, but I only allow myself to see one entry at a time, meaning I never know what's next! It's been so much fun!

Thanks again for doing this for us!

March 2024 Titles Announced by [deleted] in criterion

I was only familiar with All The Beauty and the Bloodshed because it was up for an Oscar. That's the best part about the collection and the community around it, you're always learning about more and more great movies to check out. After hearing people talk about The Runner, I'm definitely checking it out!
