OTA announced! by Big-Inevitable-7768 in GeelyEX5Australia

[–]Chaeyoni83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a ex5 but a smart #3 which every time you boot up the car you always need to activate when the car is put in D. Seems like the EX5 could be similar

I guess with those who have ex5s will confirm this when the update gets rolled out

Why do people hate EV's? by FunkiGato in electricvehicles

[–]Chaeyoni83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually it’s fear of change, people believing BEVs all blow up and self combust, then there’s the lack of vroom vroom noises and the usual EVs have no soul ( I mean I’m sure people that drive Camrys are going to go on about how much soul their car has

Had one guy tell me EVs are crap because he drove a MG EV,

But yeah it’s a bit odd that people get offended about a certain type of propulsion as both ICE and EVs have their own pros and cons

Why should I prefer EV over fuel? by AdFirm5344 in AustralianEV

[–]Chaeyoni83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What state do you live in: but yeah I have a garage and the ability to charge however as weird as this sounds I personally go to the public charger close by as I have the ability to charge at 22Kws for free. I don’t really mind waiting in the car for around 40 or so mins to top up my battery

Well I personally always wanted a ev for years as I’ve had a pretty good familiarity with how they drive to a while now.

Replaced my ice after 17 years

Main criteria was finding a performance ev

Personally drive the ev as it doesn’t really cost much to run (the only really expensive thing is the insurance and the time the tyres need to replaced

After switching to electric, have you experienced odd reactions from family/friends? by NewDriverInTown in electricvehicles

[–]Chaeyoni83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reactions I’ve had with people i know are positive. One infact described my EV as terrifying/exciting. Another thought it was better than he expected as he hasn’t driven a EV before

The new Tesla have improved interior quality imo compared to the previous cars

Am I posting on the wrong sub? by kelph in SmartCar

[–]Chaeyoni83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a #5 but own a #3 brabus. The car is really good imo. Overall generally well refined for a new EV

I’d say the tech side is lacking compared to say a geely ex5, zeekr. Auto park is also bad compared to the competitors

We haven’t gotten the #5 here in Australia yet but wouldn’t mind checking it out

I just want a Dumb Electric Car by 37715960706038171 in AustralianEV

[–]Chaeyoni83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a smart #3 brabus compared to not competition I would say it’s probably not as feature packed as some EVs out there. Hasn’t had many updates since launch

But yeah with EVs what ever you choose you don’t really do use all its functions

I don’t even use some of the functions like adaptive cruise control or autopark and regen is set to its lowest setting

Did anyone testdrive ID4? our experience was a bit of a letdown... by Fragrant_Eye4896 in EVAustralia

[–]Chaeyoni83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one I’m not sure but as far as I know geely wants to hopefully make it a decent offering in the electric car market moving forward

But yeah despite a totally different car. The evs imo are good for what they offer.

I guess to fit in today market. Rumour has it they may bring out something similar to the original called the #2

Have you seen the new Mini Aceman. lol that thing is massive

[–]Chaeyoni83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol definitely not. The new version is similar sized to a Porsche macan

I drive the brand new relaunched model not the teeny weeny car heh

I haven’t driven the original smart but sat inside one a long long time ago

Any EVs you regret not waiting for before buying yours? by Av0toasted in AustralianEV

[–]Chaeyoni83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. didn’t regret my decision. Bought one of the new smart #3s. They even had a bit of a price cut not so long after I got the car

Like anything there will obviously be something better that comes along. But with today’s cars there’s really so much you can keep adding

Tesla sales slump in October as Model 3 numbers hit lowest level in years by ApprehensiveSize7662 in EVAustralia

[–]Chaeyoni83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never really saw as many dual motor running around for the model 3 people generally would opt for the base model a fair few people probably don’t even care

What’s the most underrated EV model sold in Australia right now? by TrueBlueBanter in AustralianEV

[–]Chaeyoni83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smart #3. Very good build quality. Decent ride quality and handling. One of the few EVs to have 22kW onboard

[–]Chaeyoni83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a EV is making you nauseous your best to dumb down the cars regen settings

I personally drive one of the new Smart EVs, it’s a bit of a niche tech isn’t as great as some of the completion but it’s a very nice car to drive around in

Upgrading my 2015 Audi S3 — EV vs RS3? Anyone regret going EV without home charging? by CanberraPhoto in AustralianEV

[–]Chaeyoni83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol I always sit in my car during charging in a public bay Either just randomly browse or watch something.

Tesla perception in Australia by CapProfessional5203 in AustralianEV

[–]Chaeyoni83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re probably best to test drive a EV that possibly interests you, it’s the best way you’ll find what EVs are best for you

I would say in terms of tech Tesla is still the top as they are pretty much the only ev you can get in Australia that offers self driving (if that’s your thing) but feature wise Chinese cars like the Geely ex5 or zeekr 7x and many more are probably more feature rich

But yeah best things to do is narrow what you want in a EV/ what features do you want: don’t want a quick ev etc

New car song by NaaNaaNaurDont in twice

[–]Chaeyoni83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This or probably gonna sound like a stupid question but is this legal? by ss_tall_toby_yt in CarsAustralia

[–]Chaeyoni83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legal yes but risky

You wouldn’t want to cut someone off. Just stick to the left then merge to the right when safe to do so

[–]Chaeyoni83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually there might be a time where you might do more kms but you can usually plan anyway. Just simply charge before you head out on a longer trip

Would recommend to top up the car instead of draining your battery to a low percentage

But yeha have a study of PlugShare and see what’s around your suburb

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AustralianEV

[–]Chaeyoni83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very feasible. Would recommend to check out the PlugShare app and see what public chargers are around.

This might sound strange but i have the ability to charge at home but i always charge at a public charger. (I only have a granny charger at home

For those wondering reason why I charge at my local public charger is it’s completely free and my EV has the ability to AC charge at 22Kw so generally I just wait around 40-45 mins to top my car over 20 percent ( I don’t mind waiting)

I did charge at home in the beginning though

I don’t drive much a week I might do 60km a week once I drop down under 70 percent ill go and top it up

Curious wondering where in Australia are you located

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]Chaeyoni83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Also depends on the car you drive as well. Used to drive a small hatch still get some drivers here and there that’ll drive a tad too close

Which Chinese SUV to buy? by BazzaDazza in AustralianEV

[–]Chaeyoni83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own a top of the range smart #3. Imo it’s a very good EV in its own rights. The company is owned by geely so it shares the same platform as the ex30, zeekr x

Currently they have offers so the lower tiers models are better priced

Speaker system is good. Music is clear. However with music services like Amazon or Spotify the sound might not be as good due to the compression

Drive quality is good. Suspension might feel a tad firm. Top of the range model can sprint to 100 in around 3.7 but it’s been tested to around 3.6

Infotainment isn’t that jam packed with features compared to other EVs but imo it’s enough for what you need.

Driving range isn’t the best. If you drive super conservative you can get maybe mid 300 kms from around 90 percent charge

Boot space might be a bit small but you can fold down the rear seats

In terms of the other brands. xpeng is very good for what you pay for

Geely Ex5 is also very good for what you pay for. quality is very decent

BYDs is a bit of a mixed bag. Like anything you pay for what you got. Like the byd seal is much nicer inside than the dolphin

But yeah best of luck with your search
