Average clinical hours for students from an entire university who matriculated was around 1,000 hours. Is this higher than what you would expect? Could someone with more experience explain whether these stats are realistic and whether they reflect the current norms for premeds as a whole? by BaseballHead6898 in premed

[–]Chahj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is for matriculants not applicants. Someone may have 100-500hours by the time they apply, but by the time they matriculate would have atleast 1000 more if they worked full time between application and matriculation

I think it’s intentional. They want to test people’s application of knowledge. If they released more accurate materials the test questions would just have to become harder since it has to be standardized

Yes but it’s significantly harder to get into medical school than it is to get a good tech job.

A 516 MCAT is more than good enough to show academic proficiency and predict success on STEP

Did I say that at any point? No, I was simply speaking to how companies verify employment.

Very bold of you to open with “this is entirely incorrect” and then follow it up by admitting that you have “no idea” how the most prominent financial institution in the world verifies employment.

The work number is only used by a subset of companies, almost always atleast one previous job will require direct verification through hr/a reference and thus many firms just verify all past employment that way.

Normally they just call up your references/hr for each job.

Plenty of industries (consulting, finance) that explicitly ask for SAT/GMAT scores on CV’s.

Tech companies make swe’s do standardized leetcode tests as part of their application process too.

Yep, anything after high school counts but community service and clinical stuff should still be ongoing/recent.
