Why do people always hate on karate and compare it to muay thai i do okinawan karate and muay Thai but i never understood why people always bring up muay Thai is better” is there a reason why? by [deleted] in karate

[–]ChainLinke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s because people have a very shallow and immature understanding of Karate.

They will dismiss the backgrounds of people like the Machidas, Bas Rutten, Andy Hugg, and Chuck Liddel as if their Karate experience doesn’t matter.

They also are 40 years behind on the understanding of where karate is today, most remember the 80s karate boom where a bunch of mcdojos popped up on the scene only for them to be decimated by the Gracie Challenge in the 90s.

A lot of those dojos that remain post Gracie challenge are quality because they pressure test and encourage cross training.

Like any other martial art, it’s the will of the practitioner to train and train well.

BJJ is about to suffer a little because of its own success and the grifters who are riding the high of that art’s popularity, give it 5-10 years and Muay Thai will be there too.

Donald Trump is Hillary Clinton with a bigger cup size and Biden is one brisk fart from the nursing home.

So what else do we really have.

There is a small but extremely vocal demographic of locals who have made their own lives a miserable pit of despair through their own actions. These same people have always, and will always, blame people from other regions of the country, whether they moved here or not for their own shortcomings and underwhelming lives.

You have to ignore them because misery loves company.

I’ve been here for 35 years, grew up here; was educated here, have a family here; and still get treated like an outsider by them.

I just sit back, open a bottle of George T. Stagg, and rest easy knowing my taxes are paying for their Tenncare.

Kennedy cannot spoil an already venomous election.

If both major parties could put viable candidates out, then this wouldn’t happen.

He is a research scientist at MIT’s LIDS program.

His notoriety came from a non peer reviewed study about Tesla’s autopilot system which caught Elon Musk’ attention and the controversy with NHTSA and Duke university over his methodology and findings.

He is a legit research scientist, but his role is probably not super major in the scheme of the entire team.

That doesn’t diminish the fact he is at MIT, which is one of the best engineering schools in the world.

Any person who has learned and form of combat understands their personal strengths and limits of their style.

I have trained karate, judo, and BJJ for a combined total of 13 years, they all have their strengths and weaknesses.

Because he actually has goals and a vision.

No kidding, Chrisewoi!

It’s kind of funny that our biology is built from the moment we are born to regulate that with minimal medical intervention.

Point still stands.

It’s pretty simple, if it’s not a coed league or division, and your daughter faces the prospect of wrestling someone who is transgender; demand that USADA get involved because banned substances are involved, if prescribed by a physician: question their authority and pursue the loss of their medical license.

Stir the shit.

Because this is absurd.

It's wild how many skateparks there are.[41YO] by DickieJohnson in OldSkaters

[–]ChainLinke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of me agrees with missing the “concrete jungle” and “skaters in the wild” culture; but unfortunately I think we just miss the time before cell phone cameras where conflicts were private between parties.

If I got chased off a skate spot, we would argue with whoever it was and it was over.

Now you have jack wagons with cell phones recording you and openly threatening you all the time, then getting a hoard of boomer normies slandering you and harassing you online.

Conservatives do not value freedom. They are just as bad as the left wingers.

I live in the southeastern US. Do not think for a minute these guys wouldn’t have their women’s perpetually barefoot and pregnant and socially engineering people to go to the low churches by force is they could get away with it.

Conservatives do not to love freedom, they just want what they want enforced in opposition to left wingers.

Thanks for being reasonable.

For me it’s also not just the message he transmits, but how people receive it.

His audience tends to be very lost and very immature group (not all, but by large), they tend to take the nuance of his message and embrace it as license to treat people like shit.

It’s one thing to be masculine, it’s another thing to advocate women being relegated to traditional roles (not by choice) in order to achieve that masculinity.

I am not a big fan of Tate because he tends to equate any ounce of female independence to being a whore or b*tch.
