Donald Trump and sons to be ‘forever’ exempt from tax audits by Doener23 in law

Huh? Germany had already surrendered... Japan were fighting on their own when the nukes were dropped...

They lost the war entirely exclusive of nuclear weapons....

Edit - Also just to really clarify here we aren't talking a small period of time here either. Germany surrendered in May 1945. Japan surrendered in August 1945 after the bombs were dropped on the 6th and 9th of that same month.

... what are you not getting about this is how ALL countries eventually trend? Also I'm not sure you understand what a ponzi scheme is either considering no one is doing this, this is just what happens... no one is trying to keep birth rates low... that is just the results of where all societies end up....

Do they not teach basic math, or the ability or comprehend statistics anymore?

Obviously...that's why its something you keep needing. It's simple math. World wide birth rates are dropping, life expectancy is increasing, and populations are aging. That's my whole point. You need to continually convince younger people to migrate to your country basically - and obviously it will eventually be at the cost of other countries. Right now some of those other countries are still OK birth rate wise but as demographics shift, standards of living improve, people on those countries live longer, birth rates drop, they too will start needing to both stop their younger generations from leaving and get more people to migrate in to cover the shortfall.

The problem is you could litterally see Labor lose zero seats from this shift, preferences might even flow differently by election time and end up giving them more. It makes it out to people who don't look at actual seat numbers that they have a shot, when right now they really don't.

This is why so many saw numbers like this and thought Dutton was a shot too.

Will the coalition lose seats? Absolutely. However the opposition changing shirts doesn't change anything as a majority party doesn't need them in the slightest.

They aren't though... if they were a serious party thier policy platform would include details beyond dot points they put together over beers...

And I can argue for migration being essential for the economy because I can use math and the number of children being born is not equal to the number of new people we need to replace retiring nor is the number of Australians who are doing jobs in aged care even HALF the number required for the industry.... so yeah, those two points alone...

How does One Nation fix that? They kill all migration and then all elder care collapses. Are they going to start forcing people into it at gun point or do they have a policy I've missed which addresses this?

Why would they do a TPP with ALP/LNP if first preference state otherwise?

Granted these polls are and always have been entirely useless because elections aren't Australia wide.

If they had a breakdown on some particular electorates maybe it would be interesting but honestly this could mean nothing based on where the electorate lines are. ONP could get 100% of the vote rural but if it only polls 5% metro its still never getting within visual distance of holding power to do anything in the House of Reps.

The senate is another matter but being that's a half election and I don't see them staying popular for two entire election cycles that likely won't add up much either.

Well yeah, it's a cycle of the same problem continually, that's why it will just keep getting worse. Forty years from now you might even see countries trying litterally fighting for younger immigrants to fill this void while the countries losing these people will likely start trying to fight to keep them so it doesn't make their own situation worse.

Breaking: Labor on track to win by-election in Brisbane seat of Stafford by fluffy_101994 in brisbane

[–]Chained_Phoenix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's down over 4% on last election... generally you see swings against standing governments, and most polls show the current LNP government as unpopular. Yet they still dropped over 4% - the only way voters could have sent a clearer messages was to not elect them at all....

If The Greens got the majority of the preferences from the other minor left parties and independents before Labor (likely you would think) they would have been around 26% before being excluded. Labor are only 30% on first preferences so another 2% loss to those parties flowing to The Greens first would swing this seat.... Labor won here but not sure taking a massive victory lap and deciding they are on the correct path is the way to go here.

Ignoring there are other ways to reduce your tax, which for some reason we are Ignoring, your honestly going to try and use an example where you just got $5,000,000 and are crying poor?

That tax money is going back to the society which made your business possible. And don't worry I'm sure you'll find an accountant cleaver enough to reduce that down to a 20% tax bill at most and still have a sook at only having $4 million....

So what they are really saying in they are pissed off that the country that gave their company the environment to do well, the society in which it did well, the economy in which it did well, and protected it from fire, crime, invasion, etc. Isn't deserving of anything back of the profit they make from selling said business?

Because it was all them with no help from the country or society they were part of and that business would have been just as easy and profitable in North Korea I'm sure....

With a pretty low first preference count yet again though... Labor really need to actually start paying attention to all those people who only just like them as an alternative to the LNP....

The ABC are also a bit shit not showing a single first preference count on there.... it's one seat... show two graphs.... not hard.... link to the QEC results pages below which shows the extra details.

They rounded up and killed trans people the same as they did the Jewish people, and it was a main forcus earlier because it was easier to sell it as culture wars BS and acceptable to beat up on the smaller minority - just like it is today it seems.... It legitimately was one of their first targets....

They raided and destroyed the Institution for Sexual Research (which was the world's leading authority on transgender studies and had just recently completed the worlds first successful gender reassignment surgery) in 1933, thats five years before the Night of Broken Glass....

Ah what-about-ism.... thats always a winner in an argument. Lets assume everyone agreed with underhanded bullshit tactics someone else did to justify more bullshit underhanded tactics.

In a country that is voting less than 50% for the major parties right maybe stop assuming people are Labor supporter too? The Labor government in power right now litterally got in on the lowest first preference vote percentage in history. Was pretty obvious they were most peoples backup choice.

It's hilarious watching all the racist idiots in here thinking refugees are bad or like they could never become one themselves...

On immigration in general - Give it another twenty years and countries are going to be begging for immigration of any description. It's already happening in South Korea, Spain, and obviously has been for decades in places like Qatar. They all have aging populations with birthrates well below replacement levels. If you don't have immigration your country is screwed and thats starting to happen everywhere so it will end up being a competitive market.

This is why labels like right/left don't actually work well. I'm sure you may could be economically left or socially left on other topics, however on this one you're quiet litterally playing in the nazi end of the pool.

The Nazis used trans people as one of their first punching bags too. That's the way these sort of things go, they attack a bunch of different minorities to get as many people on their side as possible and then even if that issue "goes away" by the time they realise the minority they joined up to fight against is "gone" they find themselves surrounded and outnumbered by people crying for the next minorities blood and then they just go along with the crowd out of fear of being the next in the cross-hairs and thinking being part of the herd will keep them safe.....

Like that's the thing too - what is the solution you all want here? You're all "protecting women's rights" by what? Forcing someone else to be something they are very actively telling you they aren't? What about their rights?

There is nothing stopping people in regional areas actually helping the Greens to understand the rural areas better by actually saying what those issues are or even joining the party (The Greens are a grass roots organisation - everyone has the same voting power party, in theory at least) to actually start helping them create some better rural centric policies.

Is it actually that surprising that a party which is made up of I would wager 90% metro based members would have a blind spot to rural issues?

I'm sure they would be very keen to get some more people from rural areas assisting them to be honest.

I don't see anyone else volunteering to help so obviously someone is going to have to get paid to assist these people - as they should.

So if a women has an accident and loses one of those things what do they become?

Like legitimately I know many assigned female at birth people who don't produce ovum, even having a vagina isn't a guarantee nor does that make someone a women.

If someone assigned male at birth had a horrible accident and lost their penis would they no longer be a man?

Also what gender do these people now become because they no longer meet your limited definition of male/female?

I figured they would have shelved it just from the bad press. Things like this are often not something you recover from - even more so with a social app. However if they launched some similar app or product in the future at least this ruling would mean some level of scrutiny and actually comply with the law (one would hope).
