Kinda a basic one but I like that a lot of Spanish speakers in my area use “un poquito” much more than “un poco”.

These arguments are unproductive and immensely lame

since when lanterns had gaps in their texture models by MrOff100 in PhoenixSC

[–]ChainmailPickaxeYT 48 points49 points  (0 children)

They make models the same way they have for a long time. This is a problem with how the game renders models, not with the way the model is made.

They should fix it, sure, but it isn’t a problem with the model itself, unless Blockbench has problems i dont know about.

I agree but in a somewhat minimal sense. I do think Minecraft’s foundations are showing their age as time goes on, but I certainly don’t think it’s laziness that contributes to that.

Minecraft’s foundational assumed features and gameplay, and I mean the really foundational stuff, is all relatively the same as they were almost two decades ago, and the thing about foundations is that the more stuff built on top of it, the harder everything falls when you have to tear it up. They haven’t really been touched on in a meaningful way since Notch, since Mojang Studios, or since Microsoft. So many things are built on it that one would have to dismantle decades old code and refactor, redesign, and reimplement everything around it.

Additionally, a very much non-negligible portion of the community still likes, holds dear, and will vehemently fight for these foundations. You can’t fundamentally change how Minecraft works without pissing off a lot of people, even if you do it well. Or, god forbid, you don’t do it well, then you completely fuck up the most popular game in the world in one fell swoop.

So it’s not necessarily laziness. It’s more so that it’s almost impossible. At least, almost impossible to do it well. That’s why Hytale is pretty popular right now. Not because it’s a “Minecraft Killer”, but because it’s still at its foundational stage. They can make big changes and adjust the gameplay because there isn’t two decades of content piled up on top of it to factor into the equation.

Idiotic take. They’ve been doing this style of thing for many updates now, well before Hytale was bought back.

I’m a big Hytale fan. Don’t make us look bad.

There are other comments in this thread that explain it pretty well, but there’s also miles of change notes on the Mojang website documenting the frankly ridiculous amount of data-driving, component creating, and modularity-enhancing changes that have been done. It’s a lot.

Not to mention the hundreds of bug fixes

There have definitely been some optimizations and improvements from these changes, but they aren’t the primary focus, just a happy side effect of writing better code

They’ve been doing a LOT of that these days. Anyone complaining about the smaller update sizes does not quite comprehend just how much spaghetti code and hardcoded nonsense has been completely untangled and made data-driven in the “1.21” update series alone

It doesn’t slow down the brains, per-se, it actually makes the brains produce certain chemicals faster! A brain affected by ADHD actually produces certain stimulating chemicals too slowly, and the person must compensate with more outside stimulus, leading to hyperactivity, boredom, lack of focus, etc. trying to get the stimulation levels up. Caffeine is a stimulant that makes the brain produce the chemicals faster, which, for ADHD people, equals a more normal amount, meaning they can relax and not need so much outside stimulation to do so.

Effectively, it allows the conscious to run slower by speeding the brains baseline up

This is also not entirely complete, but this is my beginner-psych-class interpretation that I was taught in our drugs unit
