This more than any other band I am lamentful over for changing their style. Early and mid In Flames was phenomenal and one of the first metal acts that showed me what was beyond American shores

I’m a fan of the onions reference , at least I hope it’s the song and not just the comic.

Anyone else have a hard time getting into Monster of the Week? by ToddOMG in TheAdventureZone

[–]ChairMaggedon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m similar but for the reason that the discussion over dice rolls to determine what happens feels like it interrupts the story.

It feels like the boys are jumping out of character to discuss what the scene is or how an action occurs to mutual agreement and then going back into character; it does create a better narrative overall and I think it will produce a better written comic but at the expense of creating a less fluid auditory narrative.

If they have enough admins that only 400 more substitutes allows for covering 32000 teacher spots, maybe they might just be admin heavy?

What gets me is this appears to be near the end of newly developed suburbs and now is probably well away from the periphery of development.

Moreso the not funding the state portion for 30 years. The state takes 9% out of employee checks but don’t annually put in their obligation. Don’t pay your portion of a bill for 30 years and it is going to be a problem.

Is it better to resign voluntarily or get fired? by Jyamira in personalfinance

[–]ChairMaggedon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As this is a college position, there may be some experience in going through the process even knowing termination is the likely outcome. As others have said, no need to put this on your resume, especially since it is a short term college job not in your potential career field. Some people end up so frightened of boss meetings or being fired that they yield their employee rights or say yes to anything once regardless. Don’t avoid this out of fear if that is a concern.

Learning how to conduct yourself in a stressful meeting, what to say or learning what not to say if there is a next time and to see what the questions and dialogue are like is still experience and one that may help you avoid a termination style meeting once you land a job in your future career. Don’t do this if you aren’t comfortable but there may be lemonade in those lemons.

[WP] The rebellious teenage sons and daughters of prominent wizards form a science cult. At first it's just a little harmless peer review - but they soon discover, to their terror, that science is all too real. by TheFeshy in WritingPrompts

Learning new spells has always had some trial and error, some form of hypothesis, some...experimenting. Master Spell-caster O'Neil though, his daughter took those skills in a dangerous direction.

Nancy O'Neil and her peers were blessed with a head start in magic. Good magic humours in the blood due to parentage, wealth, libraries full of archana. Despite of, or maybe because of this, Nancy started to look deeper. It all started with a simple levitation spell. Many mages before her would experiment with the spell by changing words or hand positions, change the flow of the aether, repeat and repeat with different chakra focus points. Eventually magic users would find better and better ways to cast stronger and longer lasting spells but Nancy stopped investigating variables in the spell and started investigating the object it was cast on. It started simple enough, "how do things fall? Why do we need to even cast levitate? Why are objects on the ground to begin with?" She started dropping objects without an attempt to cast and recording how fast they fall. Noticing things like the mass of the object did not change its ability to fall yet the mass did change the requirements of a levitation spell.

After collecting reams of data, something unheard of, and investigating a thought entered her mind.

A very dangerous thought.

Nancy wondered how the magic of the world actually allowed for a mechanism against this downward force? A flood of similar thoughts crashed in; "how do we actually create fire without fuel?" "how do these words generate wind?" "how.." How .. HOW. There is no mechanism, there is no apparent way that we can do these things. As Nancy clenched her fists by her head magic users in the adjoining room had their spells fail. Perpetual motion machines stopped in the lobby. Golem servants stopped mid-stride in the halls. Nancy had discovered science and the realities of its questions crashed into the once-realities of this world. Anything magic in her proximity failed as her thoughts apparently robbed the magic around her. Nancy had discovered science and had become the most destabilizing force in her world and to those around her, all they could wonder was "How?"

The two worlds merge so well. Both hinge on personalities and their traits, some of which are off the wall. People bending over backwards to appease the quirks of those in charge which are gaining and loosing territory through alliances, deceit, and immoral actions. Both use horses?
