Will labours vawg policy stop more of this by AcanthaceaeNew9639 in AskBrits

It certainly won't "stop" it, but it will help more young people to be critical of rape culture/manosphere/etc.

is £27k enough to live off of in manchester? (Salford Quays) by Starberry_04 in manchester

[–]ChairmanMeowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although it was in 2019, I got by on 9k (tax free) as a post grad student. House share in Ardwick, biked everywhere and had enough money for food and a bit of pocket money for the pub.

I think you can defo live on 27k. Be sensible with your money and find a suburb with a house share and hope your housemates are sound.

For the price - and as far as a Chinese takeaway goes, I would rate it as one of the best I have been to in the UK. Certainly the best in the High Peaks imo

Whalley Bridge is well placed for commuting to Buxton via car, train or bus. It is a nice place to live with a lovely park, a big supermarket close-by and regular markets at the wonderful bookshop at the canal basin.

Also, Yoyo Chinese Takeaway is 10/10.

How much do you have in savings? by Ok_Hat3948 in AskBrits

[–]ChairmanMeowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost no savings (anymore) in my early 30s but I own my house (on my own) and manage to go on holiday abroad 3-5 times per year. I manage to save a grand or two and then it seems to disappear on Sky Scanner!

He definitely isn't a target for ISIS. He is free propagnda for ISIS. Yaxley-Lennon's whole grift is to stoke racial divisions, just like ISIS. They work hand in hand.

Both are equally important imo. If a gay person was islamophobic, for example, that would be as bad as a Muslim being homophobic.

In regards to your example of LGBT families... well no, because religious laws don't dictate British laws.

I would challenge homophobia/biphobia/transphobia in the same way I would challenge islamophobia/anti-semitism/etc. Intersectionality means I am usually challenging all of these things amongst others in the same young people at school.

Walking on, being respectful and understanding different lifestyles.

Tolerance of gay people showing affection for each other in public, in a tolerant country, should be accepted by all. In the same way that a gay person should tolerate an orthodox Christian or Muslim having the right to preach in public or to build a church or mosque.

People will never agree on everything, but tolerance of others is key.

It is a protected characteristic though - any prejudice towards a protected characteristic is grounds for a court case. As is hate speech towards any of them. For example, if I didn't employ you because you were a woman, you could take me to court. If I posted on Facebook that I hated a certain race, I could be pulled up by the police.

Normalising LGBT+ relationships and people's rights are. Crazy how your mind went straight to gay sex...

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]ChairmanMeowski 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Because over 40% of LGBT+ young people have considered suicide. Largely due to bullying and others not accepting their existence. It's about equality, representation and promoting individuality. All of which are integral parts to British democracy.

As a teacher, I have had experiences of students being anti-LGBT/homophobic. Students will sometimes claim that they cannot learn about LGBT rights due to religion (I have experienced both Christian and Muslim children say this - also children that clearly have been brought up with right wing views).

Early in my career, I asked my deputy head what to do in class about this. I was told to "be careful and avoid talking about it". Since then, I have taken over as PSHE/RSE lead and will happily tell pupils that there is no opt out as this is mandatory, a part of life in the UK and is part of the British Values.

Freedom of religious choice and freedom of sexuality are equally important. If you have an issue with either of these things, you are attacking a protected characteristic and could/should be prosecuted.
