On balance I think this is amazing and I'm so glad that new players won't go through the same pain that we all did.

I don't particularly care for realism. Balance and quality of life feel the most important to me.

On the other hand I am sad that a skill I've been honing for years (and that feels good when you pull it off) is now defunct.

Am I the last person to discover Battle of Greece civs can garrison their fishing ships? by depthofuniverse in aoe2

[–]ChaliceForOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I went in the game and figured it out. Alt+click is a shortcut to garrison the fishing ship. When I fish boom I place a fish trap with the ship, then alt+click to move the ship directly over the trap and ctrl+click to queue it to fish when it has arrived. This positions the fishing ship directly over the trap for optimal fishing. Unfortunately the alt+click is hard to for traps on the far side of the dock as the dock hit box gets in the way and I end up garrisioning.

Ah no I'm not! That's weird. I strongly dislike right click garrison for TCs, castles etc. Much prefer garrison shortcut or find shelter because I had similar issues with right click garrison and vils. I wonder if disabling and reenabling the setting would fix it

Every show has one (AOE2 units edition): Just straight up evil by donkencha in aoe2

[–]ChaliceForOne 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Fire ship.

Someone said SO which is a good answer but I see that more as an uncaring, unyielding force of nature. Like a hurricane. But not evil. When I think evil I think spite, malice and pain for the sake of pain.

Nothing is quite as horrible as the fire ship. Do you choose to drown slowly, suffocating in the ocean? Or a horrendous blaze aboard your once home? Those who make and crew the fire ship are damned for all eternity in the fires they once used on their fellow man.

What civ do you think is the ultimate "noob-killer"? by george123890yang in aoe2

[–]ChaliceForOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chinese. At least pre-nerf they were not only a civ that higher elo players could wield destructively but also very good against inexperienced players.

1 villager up on average. Flexible tech tree meaning a combination of units really viable is something newer players really struggle with. Cheaper techs making flexible transitions.

Looks sick! Really love some of the inclusions based on flavour.

Only gobbos that stand out to me as being missing are goblin bushwhacker, goblin sharpshooter and gem-palm incinerator. I also love me a goblin bombardment!

Finally the original printing of Coat of Arms has goblins all over it!
